Jim Jefferies: High & Dry (2023)
Great step!
Not sure why there's so much hate. I loved Jim's old specials during the "Legit" era, then he got that comedy central show... That was a rough era and I wasn't enjoying much of what he was putting out, it felt like the comedy was restricted. This special feels like he's going back to the crass style of comedy that got him famous! Doesn't feel like he was pulling punches or over politicized the special. While there are bits about current social issues, they don't feel incredibly pointed or like he's trying to get a message out of them. It feels like a talented writer making jokes about modern society. Great to have ya back Jim! Keep this up!
The Rehearsal (2022)
Comedic Genius
Nathan's continuing his path of creating his own genre of comedy, and he nails it again! As great as Nathan For You. It's incredibly original, cleverly written, and full of genuine moments with real people, which will feel very familiar if you're a fan of his earlier work. Nathan travels around helping people practice or "rehearse" for some of the biggest moments in their life, things like coming clean to a friend all the way up to raising a child. These rehearsals are very intricate with things like actor imitating companions and complete recreations of real life locations. A great show all aound, happy to hear its been renewed. Can't wait for season 2!
Far Cry 5 (2018)
This Game Made Me Realize The Story Matters
*Mild Spoilers* Haven't played 6 yet, tinkered around with all the previous games. Far Cry 5 is the only one I've actually played all the way through. The cult story is right up my alley. The psychedelic plants and mind control really tie the whole thing together. It's been awhile since playing, from what I remember it's less of a heart wrenching story than certain games, but it's coherent and put together well enough that it's damn fun and keeps you aching to figure out what will happen next. My favorite Far Cry by far. One of the best games of 2018.
The Batman (2022)
Y'all seeing this through rose colored glasses?
Was not a fan at all, my biggest fear going in was Pattinson as Batman, he did very well and my complaints aren't with him at all. His Batman characters stinks however, but he didn't write it only acted it. Allow me to elaborate complaints below.
1. Batman's soft and weak, it literally opens with Batman asking if what he's doing is even worth it. If you're a longtime Batman fan you know that's just not the character in any other form of media, other movies included. Sure some villains make him wonder himself, but not a "crime wave" that he hears about on the news... Also this is kinda little but at one point he's pushing a table across a floor and lets out an audible grunt! This man swings through the city with a grapple hook but can't slide a table... Literally weak in his portrayal, not figuratively.
2. Villains stink, Riddler feels like an edgy reddit user who you would never believe could pull of the elaborate plans he does. Definitely not cool witty riddler, seems like theyre trying to show how dangerous the anon "chan" style websites are and it just feels so transparent and played out.
2b. The Penguin and Falcone are caricatures of old Italian mobsters. Not believable at all... These Tony Bolognas can't get through a sentence without a "Ayyyy, Ohhh" or something along those lines, I was just waiting for a "I'm walking here!". Genuinely had my friends and I laughing at the theater.
3. Old writers trying to play to young people. At one point commissioner Gordon says "The Riddler's video has gone ViRaL!" and then several scenes later they say in a completely serious tone, "He's got almost 500 followers". Clearly seems like someone trying to be modern when they're just not... Also, Catwoman, "White Privilege", c'mon. Another quote that had my friends and I laughing in the theaters, your political points in a movie about an adult dressing up and punching people aren't necessary. Remember when movies were great escapism? This movie doesn't. Lol and none of the political points are any different than the status quo, you're not breaking ground or sharing some new age opinion, please just stop.
To wrap it up the movie just isn't good. Politics aside I just don't like the vision they were going for. A weak, non-confident, sadboy, Batman. Again, I don't blame this on Pattinson as it was acted very well. Just a horrible idea on the story telling side. If you genuinely think this is remotely close to as good as the dark night, you've lost your marbles!
Resident Alien (2021)
Very fun show!
Hilarious show with clever writing, great casting, and standout performances from Sara Tomko and the always funny Alan Tudyk!
Schulz Saves America (2020)
Fantastic
Lol at the dude saying it appeals to idiots. The complete opposite, it's an open minded shows that highlight all points and sides and that just upsets some people these days. Hilarious, quick, pointed. Schulz nails it again, he did many of these on youtube before netflix picked them up if anyones hungry for more!
The 2020 ESPY Awards (2020)
One giant commercial
This ESPY consisted of dumb sketches, celebrities literally doing nothing for "entertainment", rich people lecturing poor people about how we need to do more for police brutality, an unapologetic amount of commercials and literal paid promotion durring the show. It's weird to see them talk about such a serious topic, then pipe in horribly unfunny comedy sketches, and be happy to sell ludicrous amounts of adds and placements on it. Oh there's also like 5 minutes of sports related stuff, if you're looking for sports go somewhere else.
