Regular Show (2010)
Rated PG!
Regular Show is a fitting title for a program that takes ordinary chores, such as preparing hot dogs, setting up chairs or cleaning a rain gutter and exaggerating the consequences of not performing said chores correctly. The main characters are a couple of slackers in their twenties who live only for the moment, even if that means getting fired. They constantly get into trouble due to their irresponsibility, but always manage to end up on top through some hilarious twist.
That said...
Regular Show is rated PG, not G, not Y7. Every time I read a negative review for this show, someone is whining about how Cartoon Network should feel ashamed for making such a vulgar children's program. Newsflash, just because it's a cartoon doesn't mean it's for kids. Family Guy has already proved that. There is a warning ahead of time that underage viewers require parental guidance, PG. Personally, I'd say it's about as raunchy as Ren and Stimpy or Rocko's Modern Life and Rocko was very, very raunchy, hence the deletion of certain scenes during re-runs. And who can forget Chokey Chicken, hm? If you're a grown up, give it a chance. If you're a grown up with kids who wanna watch it, consider their age and go from there. And if you do end up loving this show, you'll be telling "my mom" jokes in no time.
Can I get an "OOOOHH!" from everybody else who is addicted to this show? And remember to raise your right arm while you do it.
Great Balls of Fire! (1989)
Interesting enough...
Well, I first saw this movie some time ago but, I don't think I was able to appreciate it until I became an adult. I'll admit, there were some situations that I think could have been illustrated better but, the film was in fact watchable.
Dennis Quaid was a believable Jerry Lee, though some have insisted that his character was bizarre...Any grown man who doesn't see the shadiness in have a sexual relationship with a girl who still played with dolls is by all definitions, bizarre. No matter what era this was.
I expected more out of the ending. The music was good. Winona Ryder's youthful face was convincing as a thirteen year old.
El Norte (1983)
So true.
This movie was amazing. I saw it in my Spanish class. The story makes you feel very included and at the end of it I was moved. Most of the other people in my class said they hated it because it was sad or depressing which proved that they were also moved by the intensity of the film. But, that's how life is sometimes. You win some you lose some and sometimes nobody wins at all. A lot of Immigrants come to America for a better life. That wasn't entirely the case in El Norte, the two main characters come to America just stay alive. The "better life" concept is put on the back burner so long as they can cheat death in several respects. This is one of the most realistic films I have ever seen.
Wedding Crashers (2005)
Boring...
This movie was so boring! I became angry during the first ten minutes because of the dull dialogue. I almost left the theatre but, decided to stick it out. And that's why I didn't give this film any less than a 7, because the middle of the movie was non-stop laughs. The end was just as lame as the beginning but, if you can bare all the bull just long enough to get to the good stuff then Wedding Crashers is worth seeing at least once. The two leading actors are personal favorites of mine and they manage to make even the stupidest jokes funny most of the time. Honestly, I wish I hadn't paid $9.25 to see it. It works better as a cheap rental for the weekend.
Dude, Where's My Car? (2000)
Wow, what a waste.
I knew this movie would be a little stupid, after all, it's a comedy. And I expected to be a little disappointed but, I had no idea that I'd actually feel angry afterward. I fell asleep within the first half hour. Like I said, I knew it would be stupid, I like stupid movies: Harold and Kumar go to Whitecastle, Jay and Silent Bob films...but, this...was awful. This movie might be funny if you're under 16 and currently stoned. Just don't don't expect to be amused if otherwise. Your friends may tell you, "oh it's so funny...it's about pot and stuff. And pot equals funny!" They're lying, they just want you to suffer through it like they had to in order to feel better. Bottom line, skip this film.
