Selfie Dad (2020)
Second Chances Can Make All the Difference
This was a hidden gem I watched on PureFlix. Michael Jr. Is a funny guy. His performance was surprisingly good in this dramedy about a man who gave up his comedy dreams but got a second chance to make that dream a reality. This was an inspiring story. Not many of us get the chance to do over parenthood and marriage, and in the process, see God prove that He knows how to bless us beyond our wildest dreams. It was great to see clean comics like Chonda Pierce and Michael Jr. Deliver such heartwarming performances. The cameo by Karen Abercrombie was priceless. I would recommend this movie to anyone. I'm not sure why we don't see PureFlix as a watch option on IMBD, but hope that will show up in the future.
A Question of Faith (2017)
Could have been a 10
This movie could have easily been rated10 because of the awesome story and stellar cast. Kim Fields gave an impressive performance as the strong mom and wife of Richard T. Jones. Richard T. Jones is awesome anyway but he did an excellent job playing this complex role as the Pastor struggling with his faith. I think they could have gone a little deeper with his struggle and with the storyline of C Thomas Howell's character and his family. I guess Howell, Stallings and Williams did their jobs because they left me wanting to know more of their individual stories. This was an excellent story of how God works ALL things together for our ultimate good.
Eternal Salvation (2016)
Great movie
I highly recommend this movie. It is a great story with quality writing and acting. I was impressed by the realistic portrayal of the physical struggles and recovery of the main character. I loved the gradual conversion he underwent and how both he and his friend shared both their faith and shortcomings with others. The gospel message was laid out simply, but not watered down. I appreciated the reality of the character Scott's rejection of the gospel even though it affected him emotionally. Following Jesus is a personal decision and can't be taken lightly. It was nice to see the good guys win!
A Christmas... Present (2022)
LOVE this movie!
This was a quality movie. It really had a great Christian and Christmas message all around the greatest gift ever given, which is Jesus; and the greatest gift we can give each other, being present. I was impressed with the story, the non-sappy writing, the beautiful location and sets, but most of all the performances were excellent. The music was awesome as well. This was the first movie I have seen from Candace since her departure from Hallmark. CONGRATULATIONS on breaking out of the Hallmark formula. It's great to know that someone actually trusts themselves and the rest of us enough to go out on a limb to create a family and faith friendly movie of such quality.
Inventing the Christmas Prince (2022)
Absolutely adorable!
This movie had it all. The main three characters were excellently scripted, and played by Tamera Mowry-Howsley, Ronnie Rowe and the precious Ms. Birch. The plot was believable, with real life situations of single motherhood and the challenges and sacrifices of a professional life. The sets were impressive and as usual, the gorgeous Christmas decor by Balsam Hill did not disappoint! This was an inspiring story about being courageous enough to find love when it's been lost or never realized. I would recommend this movie to anyone. It was sweet, wholesome, without being corny or sappy. Don't stop beliving!
The Perfect Stranger (2005)
Excellent writing and acting
This was a surprisingly well done movie. It realistically portrays the place that many modern families find themselves. The conversation at dinner was so well done. The writing was excellent and the acting was superb during those scenes where it mattered most to the film's message. The questions were answered by Jesus in an easy to understand way, both thoughtfully and scripturally. There was nothing corny or "new agey" about his responses or explanations. I was truly captivated by their conversation. The only thing that was not excellent was the lighting and video quality but that wouldn't keep me from watching it again!
Saved by Grace (2016)
Wasn't sure... at first
This was an inspiring story with a great message of hope, and a great performance by Joey Lawrence. I felt like the character "Grace," sort-of detracted from the story for at least half of the movie. Her actions didn't seem to make sense at all. It was almost like she wasn't a real person. LATER it seems like she was just avoiding getting to her destination...searching and confused but still she helps °Rick.° I love the town where this movie was shot. I instantly recognized it as Mississippi because of the architecture, home decor and landscape. It's never to late to change, to forgive, to begin again. We can learn from our circumstances and love life again.
Blonde (2022)
Worst bio-pic ever
It takes more than a look-a-like to make a good Biographical movie. This was nothing but smut, designed to make Marilyn look like a lunatic. It was so depressing and so boring that I gave up on it after the first hour. The only thing good to be said about it was that the costumers, make-up artists and and stylists were very skilled. Ms. Des Armis looked and sounded like Marilyn. I decided that it wasn't worth continuing to watch after reading that the movie had "some fictionalized" parts. I was hoping to learn some new facts about her life. This is one of the worst movies I have seen, period. It's definitely the worst bio-pic. The sex scenes were over the top, degrading to all women and since they cannot be confirmed they are so very offensive to the memory of the beloved icon and her tragic life. Unnecessary, we get it...that she was misused by men. There was no need for further degradation of her. In my opinion it was just another opportunity for men to objectify her.
