A Christmas Cookie Catastrophe (2022)
A delightful Christmas who done it!
Okay it is a bit "hamy" BUT it is a delightful change up from the same old same old Christmas movies, a Cookie Christmas Caper is a wonderful premise for a movie. I get that somaae Hallmark fans will not appreciate this movie for the delightful comedy it is, so to those folks, come on lighten up, this was funny and such a change for a Christmas movie. In the end there is enough of the traditional, romance, lessons learned and happy ending for those needing that fix. Do the lead characters seem a bit like they are at times a wee bit silly? Sure, but that is the jest of the movie, it is just a "sweet" movie and I for one enjoyed it and laughed a lot which, who doesn't need a good ha ha today! So take of the serious hat, put on your silly Christmas sweater and grab a coffee, tea, or hot chocolate, turn on the Christmas lights watch the snow and just let your mind take a bit of a Christmas break from the stress and ENJOY!
Curious Caterer: Dying for Chocolate (2022)
Not your traditional Who Done It...
I love anything that these two are featured in. I hope that this is one of MANY more movies by this writer... The books are great, so lots of material for future movies... I did find it strange that the detective was so quick to allow a simple caterer assist him with a murder, but, meh, that was the only issue I had with the story line. It was a good find on TV, have missed a quality Hallmark Mystery, these two made the wait for something new worth it!
Christmas Sail (2021)
Finally....A Different story line for a Holiday movie ....
I have to disagree with the low star ratings from other reviews.... I found the story a delightful change from the "traditional" winter wonderland holiday romance movies. Thank you Hallmark for going a different direction with this movie! I did not find that there were any real issues with the lead, it is more a case of you either like Katee or you don't...so thinking the lower reviews simply don't care for the lead. I like to think I am a bit more open minded and can actually rate a movie on the entire film and cast and not on one actor! I am neither a fan or not of Katee but I enjoyed her in this movie. There should be nervous laughter, the two characters that are rekindling their childhood romance are nervous and unsure, it should be expected, it certainly would be in real life... Was the result expected, of course... it's a Hallmark and that is the way we want our Hallmark movies to end. But, the unexpected part, and you all know who watched this know what I am talking about, well that did make me cry and it was beautiful.... so after the horrible year the world has been through in 2020 and now 2021 it is an absolutely joy to be seeing a NEW Hallmark Christmas movie and I for one found it a delight!
Dear Christmas (2020)
Wanted to like it.... really really wanted to but...
As what seems to be a trademark of any mother/daughter Hart production this movie is sub par ... It was difficult to pay attention to the actual story line, just kept waiting for the botox to ware off Mellissa's forehead and finally see some facial expression. Movie was okay, not at the Hallmark level, but when there was nothing else left in the PVR to watch.... eventually made it through.
Love on Harbor Island (2020)
Who wrote the ending.... did they just give up..
As a Hallmark movie it was better then some and was predictable with the final half hour conflict thrown in which was as expected. What was really weak was the ending, the idea that a party can presume that a offer at an open house is automatically accepted is so far off base, as was the "counter offer" at the end. As sweet as the gesture was it is not at all realistic to what happens in the real world and just made zero sense no matter which country one is making a purchase on any property... It was just weird and evident the writer had no clue how purchasing or selling properties worked. It was like the writer could not figure out the ending and just came up with "something" and really should do their research if they do not have the knowledge to write a story... Otherwise a good story, just weird last fifteen minutes.
Stranded in Paradise (2014)
Beautiful location for a Hallmark love story...
It may be that there are some MINOR story inconstancies, like dancing in the street with apparently sunburned feet, HOWEVER, that is such a small and insignificant thing it borders on nitpicking a delightful movie. The story lines are well done and characters are enjoyable. The development of the characters into their new environment is nicely done. One character is free spritz'd the other a corporate stiff and soon discovers letting go and taking chances to enjoy life is not so bad. Some advice we can all do a little more of in our lives! Beautiful location and nice clean movie! Enjoy it EVERY-TIME it is showing on our "Hallmark" channel...
You're Bacon Me Crazy (2020)
Cute movie but...
The idea is cute, but the set design group really went too overboard on the whole fake flowers in the spring time thing.... Just WAY over the top. Okay we get it, it is spring time in Portland, there are flowers, but come on... way too many fake bunches EVERYWHERE ... Flowers that are not even in season. The morning farmer's market is a joke, it is spring, Romaine lettuce heads that big! And no way are apples, carrots and persimmons ready in April even in Portland. The story line was okay, you can tell how the story will end, but the journey there is so very Hallmark but of all the Spring Fling movies they churned out this year the set design was actually off putting. You know the old saying less is more... it would have been a much more visually appealing movie with far less. There are spring veggies and fruits around work with them and it would still be a good Hallmark flick... whether or not food trucks are in old town Portland is not relevant to me, it is a story and it was actually filmed in Langley BC so the fact that there may not be food trucks i Portland makes no difference. Even in Langley in April those "spring" flowers and veggies are not around... Good Hallmark movie, just bad set decor
No Sleep 'Til Christmas (2018)
A change to the ho hum grind me out Christmas movies...
I do not agree with the negative reviews. I found that the chemistry between the two lead characters worked, did not realize they were married until I googled the film locations.... So, now on to what was great...This was certainly not a typical "Hallma..." you know who ... movie, which I for one appreciated. It had a decent storyline, and in the end girl chooses the right guy...which ultimately let's face it, isn't that why we watch these kinds of movies? There was no bad language or sex, it was a good tween age and adult movie....
My Christmas Prince (2017)
A pleasantly predictable Christmas delight
I have to say, I disagree with the poor review given by others... Is this the absolute best Holiday or Royal Christmas movie out there? NO, it is not, but to say that there is no chemistry and the acting is bad, well, I would have to say I have seen far worse. The movie does not have a huge number of known actors, or Hallmark regulars in it. That being said it is not horrible. The theme is predictable, but they all are. Let's be honest, there is never too much if a twist in these movies is there? Consequently, there isn't much of a surprise as to the plot. Holiday movies begin each year in October so it is always likely that we are going to come across a few that are not rated highly, but as a fill in for something of a Christmas theme it is a good family watch. Give it a try, it really is not bad and there is as always a nice message and really, isn't that why those of us who watch these types of movies do so. So, my recommendation, grab your cuddle blanket, a cup of hot chocolate and a plate of cookies, sit back and just enjoy!
