For All Mankind: Bring It Down (2022)
Soap opera with exciting premise
I watch the show for the what if story line and the sci fi stuff. Unfortunately that is just 10-20% of the show. The rest is soap opera. Good old fashion soap opera.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
Noooo! It only last for 47 minutes :(
The only bad thing with this episode is that it only last 47 minutes. I was shouting "Nooo!" at the end. No spoiler, only that it's a Mando episode, not just a cameo.
Moon Zero Two (1969)
This was good 👍
How did I miss this? I never heard of this one. It was good. A product of its time, but good. The effects were good, the plot was good, the actors were good and fun, the science seems to try keep to hard sci fi, the only thing that was horrible and dated was the music score. The miniatures and sets were also great and frlt believable.
I give it 10/10 because of the unfair rating. This is more a 7/10.
Mission to Mars (2000)
That one element that breaks a movie
As movie it's okay, what brings it up are the effects, the mystery, the acting. What breaks it for me are all the deaths that just falls completely flat for me. The movie have a uplifting, wonderful tone and a beautiful unique soundtrack which makes the deaths come out of the blue.
When the alien are revealed at their reasons the deaths in the beginning makes no sense. Why were these aliens waiting for an answer/code? Don't they have a sci fi scanner which could activate and scan the living things outside their door instead of running alien jeopardy without any answers?
The soundtrack is really beautiful and the effects are wonderfully sci fi - worth a watch for that. And maybe the deaths wont break the movie for you and then you would probably rate it higher.
The Predator (2018)
Is this comedy or action?
This is a movie with an identity crisis. It starts off good but then it becomes a mess. I saw the first and second movie for the first time and then went on this and it was weird compared. There are not much to say, the movie is uninteresting.
Babes in Toyland (1961)
Watch the Ed Wynn scenes
I think this is a movie that you either love or are indifferent to. The production design is absolutely amazing, almost cartoonish.
Ed Wynn was great as always so be sure to at least see his scenes if nothing else.
The main problem with the movie is that I don't care for the characters. It starts with a sing and dance number and we are told our main characters are getting married. Then we cut to the villain and all focus is on him and his henchmen for the better start of the movie.
The Mitchells vs the Machines (2021)
Either you love or you meh it
Loved the movie, the style, the humor, the real moments, but seeing the reviews off those who didn't like it I can understand their arguments. I think this is a movie that you either love it or you feel it was nothing special, depending on your life situation and humor.
To me the movies characters were fun and surprisingly relatable with dept.
And the animation, wow. Just wow.
For All Mankind: Triage (2021)
Much better then the last, but things had to be resolved
The soap opera plot/plots from the two last episodes had to have consequences of course and needed to resolved, and I'm glad they did not use to much time on that this time. The show is still great, but all critique of things going forward to fast is a result of the soap opera plot. If the soap opera plot had been dropped we could had more time with the tension on the moon.
Right now the episode feels like and 8, but I will give it a 7 because of subplots that I honestly skipped.
To be clear, when i say soap opera I mean soap opera, not the medical thing and sight thing that was great and sad. I'm thinking of "you know who" not being able to resolve their mistakes or issue.
For All Mankind: And Here's to You (2021)
6 and a half star . I have been thinking about it a lot
This episode have bothered me. It had a stupid soap opera subplot that just ruined a lot for me and when I come to think about it, the end scene of the episode and episode before it. Because the last moment/scene of this episode was great, but felt rushed. If they had dropped the subplot and maybe some more and paid more attention to the moon plot the last scene would not have been so rushed. They could have built up the end scene a lot more, because it feel so unnatural that trained personell would act like they do so quickly.
If it's still not set, drop the soap opera bits. Please, for the love of all mankind!
For All Mankind: Rules of Engagement (2021)
Great episode
That scene with the Baldwins...masterful. I cried, I laughed, it was so good.
The rest of the episode was also really good. It feels like an episode before the show really kicks off.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
I want to see more
I joked with my friend when the movie started: Oh they are going to make a SEGA universe - because of the Marvel Universe looking intro before the movie started.
But after seeing this movie, I truly would like to see a sequel or another in-universe movie.
This is truly more then we could hope for. I mean, I went because they did the redesign. The first design looked like the Smurfs all over again. But there was no guarantee for the movie.
The redesign really helps, because some moments would not have the impact they had with the other design.
This movie starts great, have a great. middle and actually builds up at the end.
It had some moments that brought it down for me personally, and therefore I give it my honest score of 7/10, but I have no problem seeing this being a 8 to 10/10 for some people.
Thanks for listening to the fans Jeff Fowler and thank you Paramount for letting them redesign. I want to see more.
Disenchantment (2018)
"I know how pick them, don't I!"
I remind my self of the last episode, because that was when it all came together and became pretty pretty awesome.
The season felt slow and that's saying much about an season with only 10 episodes. It was beautiful made but was boring at times. Some good jokes in between, but I mostly watch through this because of my love to futurama. Episode 10 was when I put my phone aside and really paid attention, because everything came togheter and it was a lot of fun.
I hope we see season 2, but I hope for improvements.
Ghost in the Shell (2017)
Unappreciated
I saw this movie On Netflix with no exceptions. I knew about the disappointment people had to it, and some of it's specific criticism.
I loved the characters in this movie, the setting and the story. I would love to see a sequel with the same actors. Loved Pilou Askbæk as Batou - P E R F E C T.
I had a bit of a bad feeling when it came to Scarlett playing what originally was a Japanese character. However, without spoiling anything, it made cold, cruel and a bit sadistic sense later in the movie.
I think the backlash must have come from the fans of the original. It can be hard watching something you felt was perfect being remade. It just can't ever beat that feeling. I have seen the originals, but I never got that attached to them.
If you are a die hard fan of the originals, lower your expectations! If you love scifi action with an existential deeper plot, this is for you. If you like action, but don't really care for scifi you might find it boring. Should see it for Batou, just saying.
Rock Dog (2016)
Rock on
Really nice movie. Bodi's neverending optimism is to be inspired by and his dynamics with Agnus Scattergood is great.
Really love the character design in this movie, it really feels like 1930 cartoon design brought into 3D.
I never understood the Fleetwood Yak character...he narrates sometimes and it really don't fit at all. There are points in the movie that feels like two separated movies. The sheeps are also at some point incredible stupid and I feel they try making them like the minions from despicable me but fails. So that is the reason for my 7 score, or else I would have given it up to 9-10.
If you liked "Cats don't dance" I think you gonna love this one.
If you love this movie you should go and see "Cats don't dance".
Spark: A Space Tail (2016)
Great characters but the story was a mess
I really like the characters and creature design in the this movie, but the story was a mess and a lot of really stupid jokes.
The main character Spark is like any teenager hero they create out there, but he is not unlikable. His biggest flaw is that they don't give him enough flaws, they try to make him this always right guy and it had been much better seeing him fail.
As I said, the story is a mess and it really overshadows the characters. Had love to see them again actually, but with the box office it got it's unlikely.
Smurfs: The Lost Village (2017)
What the...
Why is this movie getting such a low score? This was a good movie! The animation was amazing, the smurfs was funny and had hearth. The only off putting thing was some places in the movie they put in modern music - it was so off putting I almost feel there must be a first cut with original music, but some marketing guy rushed in and insisted "Modern music! We must have modern clitchey music! Money in the bank!"
This is a good childrens movie, a score of 5.9 is not fair, not fair at all.
