Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Enjoyed it
Of course the live action is going to be criticized against the classic anime but, I separated it in its own sphere and really enjoyed it. It didn't get a 10 from me because I thought Vicious was a little too emotional and animated. But other than that I thought the story line was good, the lead and supporting actors were good and it was visually entertaining. I'm actually disappointed that there won't be a second season. If Netflix gave it some time, I think there would be a cult following. I want to see more and watch the characters develope and evolve.
Hidden (2015)
Solid concept, annoying character
I really enjoyed the concept and the isolating feel of the film. The whole time your trying to figure out who these creatures are and what they want.
The pros are almost outweighed by the annoying little girl's character. I thought there girl's acting was great but the character was so obnoxious. She wouldn't shut the heck up for one second. She's taught to keep quiet in order to survive but she was so loud and cried every five minutes. I honestly wanted to shut the film off because of it. Not only that, but her need to interject stupidly all the time felt pointless. Instead of the parents doubling down in ensuring she knows her role for survival, they catered to her every question and babied every sad expression she made. Your sitting there thinking that this is no time for Mickey mouse b.s. this is the time to shut up and stay alive.
Honestly, this movie would be great if the kid's character was cut or they made her not the center of the movie.
Five stars because I liked the concept and the overall plot line but hated the kid.
Ash vs Evil Dead (2015)
Easily my favorite show and only three seasons:(
I love all the movies and I was thoroughly excited when I found this show about a year ago. This is so entertaining, funny, and gory in the best ways. Such a refreshing take on a classic fan favorite. Im disapointed there are only three seasons. It ended on a cliffhanger. Not cool. Convince Bruce to continue the show by offering a contract he can't refuse. Please.
Child's Play (2019)
A spin on a classic
I watched this expecting to hate it but it's just different. I think it's a little creepier as it translates the child's play story to the modern world. There could have been a little more character development without the cliche implied backstory of the main characters. But, honestly, I didnt watch this movie for that. I watched to see my boi chucky. It's just a good 'ol quirky doll slasher. Though, I did expect some sort of ade due demballa scene. Whatever your expectations are comparing to the original, throw it out the window. It's a complete rewrite with different origins and different motives. I can see how sequels can come out of this, like chucky sending himself in the cloud and going into another body or even uploading himself to some sort of super-robodoll. Interesting. Fun concept.
You (2018)
I get it, but kinda juvenile
The concept of the show is actually pretty interesting. You're looking through the eyes and knowing the thoughts of a stalker-serial killer-r/ niceguy. It could have been better if the story line and characters weren't so juvenile. The main female character is supposed to be an intellectual writer but seems to have an immature lifestyle like not actually writing much. Instead of focusing on scool, she seems to spend her time with Tinder one night stands, and brunch with teenage-like friends. She basically lives in a fish bowl and never buys curtains for her very publicly displayed apartment. The main male character isn't realistic. He doesn't share many personality traits as a typical stalker. Instead of being controlling and having manipulative mood swings that a person of this nature should, he's patient and accommodating. It romanticizes stalkers like they would be a white knight to save your day. The only realistic thing in my opinion is his trophy box where he stored a used tampon, seemingly from the main female character... because that's the kind of thing creeps like this would do. Maybe I'm slightly disappointed because it didn't have as many 'wtf!' moments as I thought it would.
