interesting
I saw few versions of this short storz by Edgar Allan Poe . Familiar, generous text, fair, in many from them, use of lines. This version is seductive for option of feminine cast , for the same actress interpratating the caretaker and the policelady, for the suggestion of heart and the not bad definition of eye power and for honest construction of tension.
The limits of confession imposed by writer is solved in smart way , crating proper atmosphere.
In short, interesting adaptation and seductive solutions for recreate the familiar atmosphere , including the ax as important detail And the correct performance of Molly Virtue.
The Scarecrow (2024)
well crafted main character
Can you ignore the short films of Alex Magana ? You know the story, you know the end and the thrill is well expected.
But this film, for me, as insignificant admirer of his art , is pretty ...special. The basic motif is the realism of scarecrow who real becomes a more than well crafted one . In same measure, no doubts, the girl more practic ( and brave ) than her boyfriend, the revenge of a new piece of Halloween decoration and the use of crepe paper for characters in yard of house.
The motif of so severe punishment, like the motif of visit in this yard remains obscure . But the real creepy scarecrow, with someagainst christian air in its mercyless work, is a significant good point for film.

His fall and a huge surprise about a task. A maze and the need to find the source of his pittyfull present state . A guard , episodes from his early years and a run in labyrinth to the voice calling his name.
The answer, simple and clear, reminding, in some measure, Snowball of Citizen Kane, is fair kick to reflection for viewer himself.
Because, for each of us, a special moment is the root, the source of life who we live today.
So, a profound nice short film, decent acted, interesting crafted and offering a real useful perspective about the source who makes we us.

The first temptation was to define it as touching. Not reserves, it is it, especially for realism of story , for fair , pretty admirable portrait of young girl under pressure of the events near her and about the powerful connection with her ill mother.

Like in case of each very short film, admirable coherence of story as result of few traits admirable used, some suggestions and familiar situations or frequent fears about presumed if.
So, not a story , in exact sense, but seed of a state. Beautiful for precision and something easy to call lucidity.
A sort of diagnosis of reality today.
Dream Big (2022)

Fair to write lovely final.
But entire film, a nice parable about ambition, selfishness and a solution for perfect life is charming at whole.
First for performances , Rhonda Ofori-Attah being the good example , second for model railwaz fixing delicate situations in voodoo manner, not last, for romance in which, not exacly surprising, him is th perfect victim of his girlfriend.
A question film about temptation to controll and the wistom as cure of complicated situation in just so simple, almost childish, manner.
So, profound inspired storz with seductive witchcraft touch grace a familiar and so desirable toy.

A young man, maybe too young after my opinion, reminds his wedding with his partner, near their sex everywhere. Sustained by grandmother, mother and sister, he is , still, profound unhappy after divorce. A phone conversation with ex solves nothing , except the regrets of our hero and his obvious selfishness.
So, a desperate solution and the so profound unrealistic return to life after a super dose of pills easy kill a bull.
And the constelation from title is just a kitsch solution or only profound uninspired.
The sin - a homosexual story composed by cliches , with not bad potential. But, sure, precise target, dramatic subject.

More than hommage to Sci Fi, a testimony about our civilisation, in precise - poetic terms.
Technology in blue - green lights, silence and the absence of people.
Something defined by Sasha Myshkina as retro- futura because our progress in technology is more substantial than hypothesis - fairy tales proposed by Sci Fi literature and films. And exactly the silence, the feeling about deep loneliness are the ingredients defining this new reality in which the computer generated effects are ignored for practical effects , offering the poetic sustained by colors suggesting under water location and the cold reflection of present in light of AI evolution.

A young woman, in a room iluminated by only a lamp, expecting something or somebody.
A painting , in which the blue light, the small China porcelains, the meditative woman at table and the light from right side are pieces of the portrait of a state, familiar for many from us, poetic in essence, ball of thoughts and emotions, defining a special perception of time.
The gift - the role is assumed by Sasha Myshkyna and is not exactly so bad to see, in few occasions, the wise director of admirable very short films.
In short, I admitt, a film who I love for the wise use of minimalism, for the intense poetry.
Seventeen Hours (2022)
the knife of final
After the final credits, feeling than the impressive twist of end is the only matters.
In fact, the story is the important one. An investigation of seventeen hours in which a detective fights against the stubborn of a young man to obtain his confession about a murder. He declares his innocence but the patience of detective is more and more reduced.
The final proposes the explanation for the purpose, real one, of this battle of nerves.
Minimalistic, almost in Rembrandt tones, fair crafted tension and admirable constructed answer for the viewer about motivation of so long - and intense- interogatory.
Call Me (2022)

A girl expecting a phone call. She and her phone. Inside, outside, a so familiar image for our time than it seems normal at whole.
So, not exactly a story; more a slice of near reality or the image of tension, experimented by many from us.
But when the call seems birth, excepting the smile, beautiful one - of girl, nothing changed. Excepting the phone ingnored on grass of yard.

And, like in each film by this admirable director, the feelings as the fair embroidery in place of story itself.
So, a girl, her phone. And lovely images.

limited senses
At first sight, a film about perception, the limited senses, the apparences as bricks of near reality and the experiences of every day, heavy, cold, painful.
Not last, the lost of faith.
And, sure, the way to survive against pressure around you and the need - illusion to remain the same.
A film crafted using different sources of influence and proposing the clear image of a well familiar truth.
Seductive, thrilling, honest, like each film by Myshkina - confession and remind in same measure.
A TV , a film who reminds ghost movies, a photo aparat and images of violence, a message about non existence of God and about the need to ignore what can change you. Nothing special but profound useful.
Existentiality (2021)

It reminds me the high school period. Same question, same desire to discover what can define and be real be feeled out of ordinary definitions of life.
Two girls, friends, on rooftop at presumed coffee cup. A term invented by one of them, a brick wall photographied again and again, the feeling to discover the sense of eccentric word and the conversations exploring experiences of both girls about it.
A simple story, seductive, provocative, as testimony of the spirit of unque age.
Not exactly answers.
Only, maybe, gratitude to director for intention to propose to audience an alternative term to pretty dusty existentialism.
Everything and Nothing at the Same Time (2021)

A warning as message for viewers.
Footage reminding familiar things, from letter to the closed ones to the glass on a bench . Like part of films of Sasha Myshkina, not a story but seed of feelings, emotions, memories. And this is the basic virtue of her films - to explore- and reveal, almost in Socratic manner, profound, basic truths defining us , in what can be easy called unusual way.
In this case - the dialogue , grace messages or simple lines who can find the proper destinatary.
In short, a kind of poem about ordinary gestures and crumbs of near reality , easy ignored, parts from ourselves.
Forest (2024)

A woman in a train, not knowing its destination or her home. Descending, she discovers a steel forest, very different by the forest known by here. Lights, people, windows, streets.
It can be a nightmare.
It can be the clash between two radical different worlds . Essential , it works as parable, reminding essence of life of many from us. Sure, Existentialism in fair terms. But, in fact, little more - portrait of nature of loneliness and try to escape against it, lucid perspective about near reality and the questions animating us when we are profound honest to ourselves.
Enough for useful exercise of reflection an admiration for inspired - precise simplicity.

Rafael and his Arthur
Not brilliant, not impressive, childish in some measure, didacticist in other, far to be more than reasonable acted. But nice remind about responsability and the event creating it in case of young adults.
No doubt, a homosexual story like this has its precise target. But significant is the image of love, selfish of one of partners, refuged in short adventures dominated by copulation , noble intentioned by other who helps his ex boyfriend infected with HIV .
The worst part, the portrait of mother, awful acted, terrible crafted.
The good point - the final message of compassion and affection.
In short, with some serious indulgence, reasonable.
Joker: Folie à Deux (2024)

A musical offering to Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix the opportunity of two nice roles.
Moments / scenes not exactly a coherent story.
And , I have the convinction, it îs just enough for a decent movie, not ignoring the simple reason of this film existence - to use the succes of first part.
Virtues - atmosphere, few characters behavior defining human nature and , more simple, the dance with not noble impulses inside viewer. To expect more is childish. In short, not bad acting, a large puzzle, musical moments and a Joaquin Phoenix fixing the bad taste after Napoleon.
So, I like it. Just very much, as admirer of films about nothing and animated by nostalgia about old musicals.

I like this film. And I do not like.
It is simple - the first part - two long term friends in forest, night camp , memories about same things in childhood- a sort of reconquest of past . One offering reproches and advise about senttimental relation, in which his buddy is only victim of selfish woman , to his friend. The other tries to protect his relation before wedding.
It is the good part, obvious, enough for seduce.
The second part, for so many reasons, it is bad at whole.
Sure, in first scenes exists a clue about it but why that monster, why it looks as collection of cliches and why so long introduction before his apparence ? The reference to childhood meets are , unfortunatelly, not enough.
But , sure, noble intentions, good performances.
Washed Out (2023)

Precise image of OCD.
It is the easy and right conclusion about this short film proposing at first sight only the prepair of a young woman to leave her house ( for job, shopping, walk , visit ) in its details.
The washing of hands, again and again and again, the use of antibacterial and the clean of its bottle, the reserves about doorknob and the feeling about routine.
Not only phobia but a manner to live , in restrained circle of fear, insecure and vulnerable at whole.
Nice acting, inspired cinematography, high dose of realism and poetry of gestures and tension.
Not great but coorect to precious like a large window opened to one of easy ignored aspects of everyday about one of people near us.
Neraka (2022)
a form of revenge
In some measure, a fairy tale. A man amused by information offered by his voice assistant on iphone. But, bored, he becomes real critic about possibilities of machine and imposed radical solutions.
Not very simple solution because a metamorphis is suggested in direct manner and the final of film, with some touch of frankenstein, reminds this.
In short, a nice perspective about relation between man and AI, in which skeptikism about our chance to controll it is confirmed at whole.
Nice performance, fair crafted story, not bad moral . And the feeling about presumed warning in relation with everyday use of technology.
Call Ghost (2024)
in New Year Eve
Easy to see it as easy dark comedy. And, indeed, this is its main virtue. But, in same measure, it is a pretty religious short film, exploring the habits of many couples in New Year Eve, the rumours of final of year 1999, the advertisings at TV or the empty life in depression perspective, the curiosity of young adults- near terribilism - and the murders of first day of year and reaction of cops.
But , in same measure, a nice portrait of temptations- in radical way- of devil.
In short, a provocative film, creepy story and fair end .
And, sure, the suggest for TV - internet movies night , against video tapes.
Dance with Death (2024)
not so easy to die
A comedy in the clothes of horror.
An overweight young man affected by the death of his dog. His friend walking with him in forest for find the best place to put the ashes of pet. Memories of owner and provocative fight for his life for buddy.
But, the absurd humor saves a too simple story in tradition of a kind Ivan Turbinca by ion creanga. And this is the significant aspect about this short film about the death of...Death.
The sin- maybe the crazy look of death, reminding classic marble sculpture and childhood ghosts but not impressing in real sense.
But, sure, the smiles are the only significant . And the affection of obese guy for his dog.
