Inside the World's Toughest Prisons (2016)
I love this show
Raphael Rowe is fantastic at his job! Way better than Paul Connolly. I actually see why they replaced him rather quickly after the first season. It was incredibly uncomfortable watching Paul bring his outside mindset into the prison system. Raphael, being a former prisoner himself, knows that there is a certain mentality and culture of respect that you must abide to or it will get you killed.
The culture of the prisons fascinate me and Raphael knows this. He uses his interviewing skills and ability to navigate the prison culture while also standing his ground. It's incredible work by Raphael and I cannot get enough of this show!
The Watcher (2022)
I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it
What a strange story. I didn't love it though I'm captivated by it but based on a "true" story, it is not.
Although this series is slow, the story is compelling and keeps the viewer wanting to know what's behind the slow burn. The neighbors, neighborhood, "friends," and the house is what hell is made of. It's makes for an interesting and eerie combo.
There are times, however, that this show gets on my nerves. For example, the main couple of the show should never play poker because they are always blowing their lids at everyone at the slightest clue that gets blown their way while showing their hand to everyone.
But as you watch it more and more you'll realize, everyone has a motive for something. Just gotta keep watching to find out what.
Pinocchio (2022)
It missed the actual remaking of a classic!
It missed the actual remaking of a classic! Disney, why do you have to mess with the original story?! The story of Pinocchio was about the wooden boy learning from his mistakes and becoming honest by learning how lying 🤥 is NOT OK. But of course Disney wants to sugar coat it. Just be honest with the original story that was told. It actually teaches children a better way. That it's ok to learn from your mistakes. That's the part of growing up. Instead Disney turned into a "just be brave" and that makes you honest. NO.
Because it deviated from the story, there is really no struggle here for the character himself. Somehow Pinocchio always had it, whatever "it" is, in him. This just teaches kids to never grow up and learn from their mistakes. Really disappointed that Tom Hanks would agree to do a classic story that isnt the story at all.
The Anthrax Attacks (2022)
This documentary proves the government...
... Is run by a bunch of incompetent idiots. The lead FBI agent is sure that they got the right guy - that after he died of suicide, instead of pursuing a post-humous grand jury indictment, they just destroy all the evidence and case files after it being the most expensive FBI investigation in history?! Ok. Idiots.
Great documentary given the context. The suspect seems like a good fit on paper in regards to being a strange guy BUT again the FBI couldn't prove he was their guy otherwise they would have arrested him at that very first interview. Also, lead guy, your smoking gun is a code book that the FBI threw out, seriously?! This investigation through and through was a joke. The FBI is a joke.
I Survived a Crime (2021)
Great show
I love this show! It's documents every day people who have survived brutal attacks from ruthless, thug-like, selfish criminals. The show also shows people standing up and helping these survivors out at their most vulnerable time of need, which is polarizing and beautiful given the context of the show.

My only beef with this show is that the last 4 episodes are recaps which just feels redundant because why show us what we just watched? Other than that, it's a great real-life survival show!
I Am a Killer (2018)
Very good
You learn a lot about criminals watching this show. The biggest thing I learned in season 3 on the 'A Bad Day's was that you really don't want to know "why" a killer kills. You'll be bound to leave feeling disappointed and all the more hopeless. This was the first real answer I have ever heard that actually made some sick twisted sense but still left the viewer realizing how depraved a soul can truly be.
An overall well rounded documentary with all sides well-told. It's like that Proverbs that states "Any story sounds true until someone tells the other side and sets the record straight." This was especially true for season 3's "History Repeating." Have a watch.
Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower (2017)
Fantastic!
Joshua Wong (at the young age of 14), Agnes, Derek, Nathan and so many others fighting for their freedom in Hong Kong are my heroes! This was a fantastic watch. It is refreshing to see youth come in to make a change and do it!! So exciting, yet terrifying to watch. Go Joshua, go!

Old (2021)
Slow burn horror
This was a fantastic and a refreshing watch. Definitely seeped in a sort of slow burn horror story. I'm not going to lie, you do get to the point of asking "why am I still watching this?" due to feeling a bit hopelessness at one point in the story, but keep watching as it's worth the watch.
Also, disregard the rest of this review as it will just be repeated because IMDB changed it's minimum character limit from 150 words (reasonable) to a ridiculous 600 words minimum.

The Night House (2020)
Very good
Very good and twisted angle on a horror story! Refreshing to say the least and not what I was expecting. Also, I think an atheist wrote this script with the whole "Life after death is nothing."
Untold (2021)
A well-documented documentary!
This is a complicated story that needed to be told. I appreciate all sides being told from where they are coming from, good or bad. It's an overall well-done and thought out documentary. A must watch for everyone actively in the digital age as catfishing can happen to anyone.
Now with that being said, personally, deadspin is a toxic media website looking to destroy people without a shred of grace or mercy. This is what makes our society awful. Those two guys looking to destroy people in the name of "news" a.k.a. Money.
Trainwreck: Woodstock '99 (2022)
Good documentary
The producers of this event are ego, money-hungry maniacs. My dad always told me growing up that if someone is blaming other people consistently, to look at them closely, because there is a reason they are pointing to everyone but themselves. Sort of like wolves in sheep's clothing but these guys are all about taking money from the sheep.
Sidenote: it was cool to see some bands that I grew up with and then promptly realizing I don't miss those days at all.
The 15:17 to Paris (2018)
Very good!
Authentic, real, and what true heroism looks like. It definitely is not marvel quality action hero with the best script written ever type of movie but it's real. It's laying down one's life for another real and really good! Take a chance on this wonderful biopic movie played by the heros themselves.
Purple Hearts (2022)
Good, dramatic, cheesy slice of love
This was pretty darn good. It's definitely a romantic, fictional-based story in every sense of the imagination but still oh so cheesy good! A must watch for the hopeless romantic who wishes to stay hopeless in reality but hopeful in fictional love storylines.
Creep 2 (2017)
This is not a gem!!
Do not watch. Netflix always suggest these weird indie type movies that end up making you feel weird and depressed after watching it. This was just a whole other level of strange. Avoid and go watch something that will allow you to enjoy life! After all, it's short.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
This is truly unremarkable
I absolutely loved Dr. Strange (2016) until this cheap thrill came along. I'm pretty disappointed by the story created by the worn out Marvel machine. Please don't waste your time on this.
Moon Knight (2022)
"oh no, the idiots back"
About 18 minutes in and I'm hooked! I genuinely enjoy Steven with a 'V' character. But as the story unfolds, "more" characters come into the fold and it's great! Good script, good music, good story telling - an all around good series.
War of the Worlds (2005)
Not good
This wasn't good and the ending was terrible. The aliens die from something silly. Also, Tim Robbins was totally wasted in this movie and I hated Tom Cruise's character. Also, Dakota Fanning's character was obnoxious with all the questions, I actually cheered when Ray told her to stop talking.
When the end came, I was glad for it to be over.
Ozark (2017)
A well done show but...
I loved this show but I never thought I'd ever finish a series, rooting for the main characters to win only to find out how much I hate them. Very conflicting finale for me, as I guess innocence is bliss, until Jonah becomes exactly what his parents are...pure evil.
I guess the moral of the story is that no one wins in this fictional world of self-seeking, power-hungry people - which doesn't actually sound so fictional to me.
The Raincoat Killer: Chasing a Predator in Korea (2021)
Very good documentary!
I've watched other foreign true crime docu-series but this one so far, takes the cake. It's a very well told documentary and I was fascinated from start to finish. I'm also glad they kept it at 3 episodes because the story was not added onto nor missing anything.
The Motive (2020)
Awful
This was a truly awful documentary with truly annoying music to boot. I got to the 4th episode and still got nowhere on the whole point of this film which was "the motive." My goodness, if you enjoy a good who dunnit with no answer, this is the docu-series made just for you. Otherwise, do not waste your time.
On the Case with Paula Zahn (2009)
I love this show!
I love this show! Paula is a great narrator and interviewer. The show is well made and it's popular for a good reason!
My only caveat is the unsolved cases. I wish they would give the viewer a heads up ahead of time as I hate unsolved shows and sometimes that's the story they cover.
Other than that, a great true crime show!
Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives. (2022)
This documentary was great!
The documentary was very well told. I'm glad they actually got to interview Sarma. I'm going to say something unpopular but here it goes, Sarma was both a victim and a lying, no-good fraudster just like Anthony Strangis. I love a good true con story and this one does have it all.
Make no mistake though people, Anthony Strangis is the devil in "fat-suit" clothing and he will tell you that too minus the "fat" part. That's what's so scary about him, he knows what he is and tells people what he is and still is able to con them. The truth is truly stranger than fiction.
Home Team (2022)
This was the feel good movie I needed
I wasn't expecting this one. I thought it was going to be sophomoric humor but turned out to that feel good in America's soul kind of movie. It hit the nail on the head making it about the team and what sports really comes down too, having fun and watching each other's back. This a must watch with the fam!
Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness (2022)
This show is on crack
I love Jonathan but this show is on crack. Good luck staying on a subject long enough to get an informative answer. The experts that Johnathan interview look super uncomfortable because he always cuts them off mid-convo after he asks them a question. It's just too much. Jonathan does well in Queer Eye because the other guys can reign his wild, ADD personality in.
Archive 81 (2022)
No! I wanted to like it but no.
Man oh man was this show slow but then finally! A glimpse of it making sense in the 7th episode, 27 minutes in. Oh then everything falls apart at the end. At least reward your audience for sitting through this mess. Geez.
