Slender Man (2018)
A Horror film with scare effect that doesn't affect
The cast are amateurish. They're pretty and they know how to act but that's just it. Nothing impressive. The story is too simple. It's like finishing a book in one seating. I intended to watched this film alone so I will get scared. But it didn't happened even though I'm using a Hi-Fi earpiece and no lights in my room.
The CGI effects are not good. Half-way the movie, I already lose my interest. I'm no longer expecting anything. I just want it to end. That's it.
Thanks!
Geostorm (2017)
The Special Effects Are The Only Reason Why I Continue Watching this Film
Too many flaws in this movie. This movie is just for entertainment. I'm actually horrified by what they did to Earth to prevent climate change. It's very unrealistic and too dumb.
So his little brother took the position and left his older brother with no job. Note, they kicked the older brother who saved the world from extreme climate change. Then after years, the system messed up. The younger brother harassed his older brother and tells him to fix the mess with the Dutchboy, the technology that controls Earth's climate. The older brother was pressured more because of weird drama from her daughter so he decided to fix it.
Another scrutiny, at Hong Kong, It's apparent that the crushed egg boils in the ground while the car tires don't? The science really failed in this film.
At space, the analyst guy Dunkin is rude and they expect the station not infested with a rat? What an unethical workspace they have in space.
And when Lawson's jetpack malfunction he unbelievably survive. That is so very unbelievable. Anyway, It's called entertainment. I should be entertained.
Another one, the security woman went home, she's the wife of the younger brother, and she just heard a crushed object and she just called "Max!"? Seriously, this is the kind of reaction you'll expect from a Secret Service Agent? And later she found a stranger and then her husband pops up behind her. The husband said it's okay, it's okay, it's okay and she's still pointing a gun at the visitor. That's so hilarious! It's so wrong. It's a very failed script.
At space, they were searching for a high-tech USB device. The security guy just found them, pointing a gun at Lawson. Where Lawson is with the woman helping him search. You know who's that woman is? It's the Chief Scientist who's the boss of the security guy. Unbelievable! The security guy just did that in front of his boss. They should take Work Ethics in Space Station seriously. I guess, the Gun Control Law is not popular in Space Station.
Another one, thunder hitting the Stadium and making the stadium explode. Is that even possible?!
One scene, the President is arguing about Lawson serious accusation to Sec. of state while they're under Geostorm, I mean, where is his mind?
So there's a geostorm all over the world, politically all power country will react. There is a serious repercussion to the US. I guess the sequel will be called Nuclear Storm.
At the end part, they're fishing near a sandy beach shore. Very stupid indeed. Are they waiting for a crab?
This film is so bad. What they're doing is a crime to humanity and to planet Earth. Very very bad.
Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
The Creeper is an Horror Version of Superman
Victor Salva did well in the first two installments of Jeepers Creepers. And he messed up with this third film. What's with the special effects? It's like it was degraded. There are redundant scenes and some scenes were also unexplained. The part where they touched the dismembered Creeper's hand, you thought they already know the secrets to killing the Creeper but in the end, they didn't.
Lastly, I read somewhere, they're writing and going to release a sequel. I suggest if they don't have the budget, don't repeat what they did in this third Jeepers Creepers film. They're just going to ruin it again. Perhaps, make the 4th film the last.
Thanks!
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
A comedy Thor film you wouldn't disagree
Waititi and the team are game-changer. They made this film more entertaining with humorous lines. With more than two hours of film length, you wouldn't feel tiredness because of the said funny scenes. Fans who haven't watched it yet might find my review about Thor being a comedy, a cardinal sin. No. The comedy lines are just right and fitting even though it kind of overrides the meaning of Ragnarok.
This is the best Thor movie so far than its prequels. I highly recommend it. Thanks!
John Wick (2014)
I find it cool at first and eventually unbelievably funny as the story goes
When the Kingpin learned about whom did his son messed up with, It's John Wick, that's where the hype started. Eventually, as the story goes, the hype is kind of messed up.
I'm kind of unsatisfied about how John Wick kills his enemies. His killer moves is not a move of a killer. It's not poor acting. I guess, It's just a fair acting. He moves so lame and looked untrained. It's like his enemies have a lot of chances to gunned him down, but they're not taking the chances.
One more ridiculous scene is when Viggo caught John Wick and tied him in a chair. Yes, Viggo didn't kill him in that part even after John Wick ambushed him in the Church. But after Viggo interrogated him, he commanded his guard to kill John Wick. The funny thing, the guard tries to kill John Wick with a plastic bag. The man who is feared, known by the killer circle, will be killed with a plastic bag by suffocation? Seriously? But that didn't succeed because his old friend who first tried to kill him saves him.
At the end, Viggo and John Wick battles hand-to-hand and then hand-to-knife because Viggo thinks he's going to lose it so he used a knife. The fight scene is very unacceptable. I remember Viggo told his son that John Wick killed three men in a bar with just a pencil. And then the film give us the said funny fight scene. John Wick was able to stab Viggo in the right shoulder while Viggo stabbed John Wick in the stomach. What's more lethal and what's the chance of survival when you're stabbed in the stomach versus stabbed in your left shoulder? You don't need a medical degree to decide the obvious. The film defies biology. Viggo died because he was stabbed in the shoulder. And John Wick survived the lethality of his injury. What the hell!
I think, my vote is just fair. I enjoyed the first half of the film which is good til the second & last half of the film which gives an unbelievable poor story.
Riaru onigokko (2015)
I'd appreciate the story if I've read it as a book
I discovered this film from a Humour site who posted a sample video of this film. It made me curious to watch this film because of the cute chick plus the gory scene in the trailer.
The story is kind of deep. I think, It's trying to make its audience a mind blown effect. But it isn't. I'm unsatisfied with the dialogue trying to give a meaningful line. I think the novel version tells a lot than the movie version.
Regarding the special effects, instead of scrutinizing the not so bad and not so good gory scenes, just okay, I just laugh it out. I don't know if there's something wrong with me, but I really find those scenes funny.
After watching this film, It made me more curious and I want to read the original story of the novel this film was based.
Thank you.
Heneral Luna (2015)
A game changer in the world of Philippine Cinema
I am not used to watching Filipino-made films due to their shallowness, poor quality and most of them are just-for-laugh. I don't want to generalize this view. To be fair, I can't deny there are some Filipino films, few of them that outstand and "makes sense". But the word of the mouth rounding about Heneral Luna being a very good film made me watch it in the local cinema.
Here are my positive points for this film: one, each actor closely resembles the character's face, historically. Second, they're finally comfortable with filming some gory scene. I saw a soldier's head being blasted while on battle with American soldiers. Third, pushcart being broken in the middle of the river and a dog with scabies, showing a sign of bad omen. Fourth, a particular scene where it can be compared to Juan Luna's painting "Spolarium", very brilliant! And lastly, fifth: the burning of the Philippine flag at the end scene where it somehow ignites my patriotism.
The release of Heneral Luna movie is a rare occurrence in the history of the Philippine cinema. It's a game changer. A must watch and must be promoted to fight against Filipino's anti-intellectual films.

Shingeki no kyojin (2015)
I neither like or dislike it. It's okay. But a big turndown for Attack on Titans' fans.
Expectedly, the story was altered. Alteration is a common practice in filming a story based from a book or anime. They do that to give the film a unique market value. If they don't, the audience who read the original media might not give the film version a patronage. But what they did with this film is a big turndown.
First, the big alteration with the character of characters: they turned Mikasa into a sweet girl. They turned Eren into a loving person. And they've added some new characters who are really annoying.
Second, I felt I just watched a short film. I guesstimate the film's duration is 1 and half hours only? (without looking in the IMDb details for reference) Not really worth what I've paid in the cinema.
Third and the last thing, I'm disappointed about the outcome of the story. I don't think they will release a sequel to this live film. Perhaps if they stumbled upon here and read this review, or from another honest review you'll read here, they'll not even give it a second thought.
Aside to the above turndowns, I must admit, I enjoyed the fight scenes. The CGI is okay. The live portrayal of Titans good. Actors doing & acting the Titans are good.
How else can you appreciate this film? Let's just put it this way. Just pretend you didn't know the story of the original media, the anime or the manga. Then watch and enjoy.
Give & Take (2013)
A GMRC short film. Recommended watch for young students.
This short film is a very good example of good morals and right conduct. Has a good ending, of course. It's subtitled in English if you already watched it in ViddSee. Unlike other Asian short film produced, Give & Take English-sub is fairly understandable and you can go with the flow of story even though you don't understand Chinese.
The actor and actresses acted well.
I highly recommend this short film for teachers to share watching this to their student. The short film is freely available in ViddSee and alternatively from WWV - Worth Watching Videos website (re-shared).
Thanks!
