The Substance (2024)
Avoid, Total garbage. Zero logic even in the context of a fiction.
While I can respect other people's taste, I find it hard (almost impossible) to believe this piece of garbage has a 7.5 average rating. Something is fishy, I would seriously dig into "one review new users". The story is completely pointless and lacks fundamental logic (even in the permissive world of fiction). Dennis Quaid's character is 1000% annoying. The sets in which it takes place are extremey weird. Most cars shown in the street are from the 70s, yet Dennis Quaid grabs a cell phone when leaving the disgusting lunch scene. Cameras in the studio are also modern so the 70s cars become a complete WTF addition. Storyline gets worse and worse. It could end 4 or 5 times before the actual ending. This is (by far) one of the worst movies I have watched in my life.
Trap (2024)
Bad. Pointless. Stupid story.
What a waste of time! My guess is that the whole point of making the movie was to showcase the music by the (conveniently related to the director) singer. I do not recommend this movie at all. The alleged plot twists are all as stupid and unbelievable as can be. Josh Harnett's character is completely exaggerated, almost cartoonish. His acting performance leaves a lot of room for improvement. The "police trap" premise of the movie is dumb and totally unrealistic. This particular director seems to be more "hit or miss" than most. I insist, it seems the movie was made as a mere excuse to promote an artist.
Todas las veces que nos enamoramos (2023)
Ridiculous non-aging of the characters
From the first episode to the second, approximately 18 years go by in the calendar. Not in the characters' faces or bodies. This is totally
ridiculous and amateurish. This is taking the audience for fools and simply not caring about the story or the product. And, let's be honest, if the creators themselves have so little respect and care for their own creation, why should then we have it? The story itself is rather mediocre although I must admit that Georgina Amorós steals the spotlight. Some of the other characters are too much of a cliché and bring nothing new or worthy. It is just passable if you have low expectations.
The Disappeared (2012)
Total waste of your time (and theirs)
What a stupid, pointless movie. Nothing happens in 90 minutes that should have been 15 (if that). No risk of a spoiler when the story never goes anywhere. Why would someone choose to make and release this movie is beyond me. It must have been a pain to film and it is certainly a pain to watch. Avoid it. Take a 90 minute nap, you are better off. This is the typical movie that participates in festivals for unknown reasons but that makes you regret having given some of your valuable time to watch. I do not recommend this movie to anyone and I wish I could have my time back. Low budget movies can be great, unfortunately this one is not.
Elijo creer (2023)
Good documentary that plagiarizes the documentary "Heroes" verbatim.
As an Argentine, I naturally loved it. But it must be said: at least in the original Spanish version several phrases are shamelessly robbed from another similar documentary called "Heroes" (Mexico'86 World Cup). Also the music and some filming resources are copied from that same movie. I would have appreciated more originality in that respect, but overall it is a good movie and will not disappoint soccer fans. Unlike Heroes (which was about the whole tournament), this one is almost 100% centered on the Argentine team and includes interviews with several significant members of the Argentine national team.
The Staircase (2022)
So so
Good performance by Firth. The "constantly back and forth narrative" was pointless and even irritating. A lot of scenes had no meaning whatsoever. It should have been 4 episodes, there's way too many pointless minutes.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019)
So bad...
As a KS fan, I'm very sad to see this movie come to light. Seriously, what were they thinking?
