Insectula! (2015)
Better than the bad reviews here claim
The opening intro was a nice homage to the corny intro by Criswell to Plan 9 From Outer Space and the rest of the movie was better than I had expected. The quality of the film copy/print was very good as it should be for any modern movie and while the special effects were at times campy, that was to be expected and some were quite funny. The females were gorgeous and the ending was great by making a hero of the nerdy EPA agent.
One Way Passage (1932)
Look-a-likes
Great movie but am I the only one who thinks that Kay Francis and Aline MacMahon are look-a-likes?...especially if Aline dressed the same way Kay did and did her eye makeup and her hair the same. Btw, are we to assume that Wm. Powell is doomed to be executed or is it possible he might serve a life sentence or even have his conviction overturned or get a pardon?...and because I did not hear him ever profess his innocence, are we to assume that he did in fact murder someone? He should have IMO explained the facts of the murder and whether he was provoked or had any excuse. One reason I ask these questions is because Wm. Powell does not look or act like the type of character who would or could murder anyone.
Dial 1119 (1950)
Pretty Grim
Pretty good acting by Marshall Thomson but the bar fly utterly overacted her role, especially her fake loud very annoying laughter. I assume phone # 1119 must have been the 50's version of 911.
You Must Be Joking! (1965)
My 3 Rating is probably too generous
This movie is the definition of over-acting. Very very forced comedy and a stupid so-called plot that is not even that funny from mostly over the hill British actors. A few chuckles here and there but no side-splitting laughter like you get with great British comedies/comics like George Formby, Benny Hill, Fawlty Towers or Monty Python.
I criminali della galassia (1966)
So Bad and Silly it's just Bad and Silly
The over-use of toy sets and toy cars and rockets and other fake props makes Plan 9 From Outer Space look like a masterpiece. The dubbing was awful and the fights were pathetic and the story was goofy.
Happily (2021)
Intriguing
Those here suggesting this is the worst movie ever just don't get it or the dark comedy and likely did not like the cool music...and have never seen Monster A Go-Go (1965). That POS and many others from the 50's and 60's make this look like Academy Award material.
Top Sensation (1969)
WOW!! Wait until you see the disturbing ending!!!
Most of this movie is silly harmless soft core naked women on a large boat. However, there is an undercurrent of mystery regarding the efforts to cure the boat's lesbian/bisexual captain's insular child-like son by trying to set him up with a female to have sex but right at the end the plan backfires horribly. Then it gets even more shocking at the very very end with what happens between the son and his mother and the cold way the rest of the crew get rid of two "problems" with violence. Watch to the end and if you like crazy shocking finales, your rating of this movie will go up as mine did.
The Wild World of Batwoman (1966)
I wish I could vote zero
Not sure which is worse...this piece of trash or Monster A Go-Go. Perhaps a tie for the worst.
The Alien Factor (1978)
Whoever heard of a two door police car??
A beige two door police car! Clearly no expense was made when making this gem.
Fit for a King (1937)
Only Fit For A Few Laughs
...and the lack of any music during many scenes made the movie older and stiffer than it's 1937 date.
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957)
The "Ruler" was a dud
One of the best so bad it's funny films ever. All the acting is bad but I award the worst acting award to John Breckinridge who overplayed the part of the "Ruler" on the spaceship. His flourishes with his arms were hilariously silly and he was obviously reading from an unseen script. However the lines he was given to read were so juvenile I almost felt sorry watching him.
Vacation (2015)
Not impressed
I agree with the "Take a break" reviewer above about the foul language. In fact I stopped watching as soon as the two bratty brothers started swearing as did their mother. I lose all respect for anyone who cannot construct a sentence without including F this and F that and descending into toilet humor. Not exactly a sign of intelligence or good humor. How I miss real humor like W. C. Fields or the Honeymooners or Get Smart when comedy was actually funny and not offensive and forced feeling.
Vice Raid (1959)
Not too bad...
...for a low budget movie. Mamie of course looks gorgeous. However the end of the movie is laughable as the 3 supposedly crime syndicate bosses from Detroit and other cities look like tubby marshmallows and hardly hard nosed tough mob bosses. One of those 3 actors is I think one of the regulars on the later Andy Griffiths TV series.
The Deadly Mantis (1957)
Much better than The Giant Claw also in 1957
At least this flying monster insect was quite scary unlike the laughable ugly flying turkey-like bird in the Giant Claw.
They Came from Beyond Space (1967)
Pretty lame
Did everyone notice Michael Gough's ugly yellow teeth? You would think that when the smartest alien beings in the universe took over his brain that they would have whitened his teeth!...and what was with the silly flowing robes worn by Gough and his fellow aliens at the end of the movie? The music in this movie was jarring and horrible and did not for the most part fit the scenes on which the music was foisted. The acting (except for Gough) was OK but the special effects were not special. I was at least hoping for some "beyond space" babes in mini skirts and heels but I left disappointed.
One Way Ticket to Hell (1955)
Not too bad considering...
...considering that none of the actors had any dialogue and considering the lousy music.
The Early Bird (1965)
Very very contrived so-called comedy
Some movies are so stupid they're funny. This rubbish is just stupid. Norman Wisdom makes George Formby look like a genius (which in fact he was). Compare this failure to British movies and TV which are actually funny like the Man in the White Suit or the Lavender Hill Mob or the Carry On movies or Benny Hill or On the Buses or Keeping Up Appearances or as I said George Formby films and dozens of others. There is no comparison as this movie is at the bottom of the heap. Ugh!
The Steel Jungle (1956)
Beverly Garland needed a better taller husband
Not a bad tough prison movie but as others have suggested, the good looking Beverly Garland deserved a taller husband...the short Perry Lopez was IMO miscast as the husband of Beverly although his acting was pretty good.
Dead Sexy (2018)
Funnier than many here claim and with a very surprise ending
Most of the other reviewers here have little sense of humor...I thought the characters were both funny and (drop dead) sexy. Many here took the movie waaay too seriously. However I wonder if anyone here stayed until the very last line of the movie...because that surprise ending made the whole ghost lover premise of the movie even more hilarious.
Ring of Terror (1961)
Not That Bad IMO
I've seen a lot worse but I thought the scene at the end was fairly scary and not predictable in terms of exactly what would happen to our hero. I thought the fat couple were pretty amusing and the acting and the script were not too bad. There are too many nitpickers here as for example those who say the actors look too old to be med students...well by the time you get to med school most students are at least 25 plus we all know that most of the younger generation in the 1950's and 60's looked older than they do these days because they wore clothes and had hair styles similar to their parents. I also thought the fat couple dancing was pretty funny. The hero also drove a very cool MG TD but the critics here must not be classic car fans as I am. The only part I thought was hokey and unnecessary was the opening monologue and the beauty contest should have had more closeups of the contestants in their swimsuits.
Undercover High (2014)
Cute show with funny pranks
While channel surfing I ran across this show on the Disney channel in March 2020 and thought it was well done and after seeing a few episodes, while obviously some episodes were funnier than others, I thought most were quite hilarious watching gullible high school students being pranked and often scared. Unlike the super negative review here of the person who said he/she went to 4 high schools and thought everything was "scripted" (I assume he/she meant the students were told they were being pranked ahead of time), I did not see any evidence of that. Also unlike that negative Nancy reviewer, I also thought the cute blonde girl hosting the couple of 2014 episodes I saw was just fine (named Lisa Gilroy I think) and not a bad actress at all and was a good bubbly host. I am 70 years old and only went to one high school and recall how dumb many students were and still are. I could not care less if this show is a re-run from several years ago, it made me laugh. I am a just retired litigation lawyer so maybe what some people regard as a silly prank show I enjoy as an occasional escape from thinking about my serious profession.
Johnny O'Clock (1947)
Way too much canned talk
This movie dragged because of all the canned talk and the story was confusing...and rather boring. Not one of Powell's best noir performances. Much of the emotionial talk came off as fake.
12 to the Moon (1960)
Not as bad as some here claim for 1960
IMO this movie had pretty good music and sets and photography and the dialogue was not that corny and the storyline and imagination was quite good for 1960. One curious feature was that although the space suits were not bad (similar or the same as in the Phantom Planet which movie I also liked), the men's suits had a little pouch in the frontal groin area which left little to the imagination...
Fingerman (1955)
Tame mechanical dialogue with weak casting and a lame ending
The dialogue was very canned-not natural/full of platitudes and for the good looking Ms. Castle to fall for the ordinary looking Mr. Lovejoy was not believable. Forrest Tucker did not come across as the evil mob boss he was supposed to be playing and his lines were mechanical and delivered mechanically. As someone else here mentioned, the casting of Lovejoy as a crook was not credible as he came across as too nice a guy but his quick fists were also not credible as he was always hitting bigger guys. The ending of the movie was pretty lame/not very imaginative at all. Not exactly Jimmy Cagney in White Heat.
Daughter of Darkness (1948)
I Don't Get It...
The servant girl most of the women hate but all the men cannot resist is neither especially pretty or flirtatious...she does not even wear provocative clothes and the film never really explains why she is supposedly so evil. Based on her interactions with men in the movie, it seems like each man tried to rape her and thus they got what they deserved. I was expecting she was a vampire/Dracula's daughter but no such thing. I felt sorry for her. Having said that, the movie was quite suspenseful and well photographed...it just made little sense without any explanation of her "evil" and why men were drawn to her.
