The Other Woman (2014)
Leslie Mann sucked the air out this movie, and that's not a compliment
Let me preface this review by stating that I am a married man and that I suspected that going in I was not going to enjoy the film, but I've incorrectly prejudged films before, so I went in with an open mind.
I'm not going to post any spoilers here, but I believe the previews provide a rudimentary outline on what might take place here.
The biggest problem, to me, is that LeslIe Mann's character is not even a little bit credible. We are asked to believe she can be both a victim in a fugue state and a cool and level-headed player in the film's overarching theme of revenge. Further, her acting is so over-the-top and her character so obnoxiously unpleasant that the films falls largely apart due to this.
Cameron is showing her age here and some of the shot selections make her look downright homely.
I'll confess to laughing once but if this is a comedy, comedy is no longer funny.
There's a laundry list of problems with the script, the acting, and more, but for me it was th horror show of Leslie Mann's performance that made this a 2 out of 10 stars.

The Sacrament (2013)
Why?
Without revealing too much of the plot, suffice to say this is a reimagining of an actual event.
No idea why other than to introduce the event to a young audience, but who understands the logic of why some films are made? And why the storyline was altered to make it appeal to that younger demographic.
The reality is that the actual event is even more horrific than this film, despite some of the graphic footage you are subjected to here.
I guess the idea was something like a mashup of The Blair Witch Project with the substantive portions of the actual event was the elevator pitch, but for anyone who is familiar with the actual event, this film will simply bore you to distraction until the inevitable happens.
Cold in July (2014)
Ugh, this was terrible
The plot is never fully developed and the audience is asked to suspend reality in order to accept what takes place here. Don Johnson arrives at some point, which resulted in us guffawing.
The mustache and bad haircut worn by the lead actor is also laughable, and fans of Dexter will be smirking early on into the picture.
Sam Shepard's character had an opening but the director and/or screenwriter or Sam was not able sustain what was needed for his character.
The best line is one delivered by Don Johnson near the end of the of the film, and at that point we were desperate for anything that would add some value to this thing.
Michael C. Hall also had trouble here, and maybe he's still got too much Dexter in his armor to play this kind of role. Incidentally, the character he played here was so one-dimensional that I wonder if he can really act at all.
The best part of the picture is the title: Cold in July
Too bad the film never came close to reaching the lofty heights of said title.
Age of Tomorrow (2014)
I'd rather have hot pokers plunged into my eyeballs.
From the acting, the dialogue, the plot and the laughable the SpecialFX (that look as though they were done at a cost of $189.00) this is quite possibly the worst film I have ever seen. There is nothing that redeems this movie on any level.
Was it made as a tax dodge? By people who think the public is even dumber than a box of rocks? By a middle school student with learning difficulties? By drunken porn producers looking to go mainstream? I don't know, but what I do know is that this is worse than anything I've seen in over 50 years of movie viewing.
Within the first 10 minutes you'll feel as though you've seen this movie before, or at least the movie plot it was based on. And that movie was a big-budget Hollywood dud!
Go watch some youtube videos of goats instead of this cinematic tour de garbage. Trust me, you'll thank me and be much better off.
Blood Ties (2013)
Just awful!
The cast made the film seem intriguing, but this is a terrible film. Clive Owen is Billy Crudup's older brother? No. Good brother, bad brother, ugh. So hackneyed, so amateur.
Moments to remember: Clive loses his American accent in a few scenes, Mila Kunis attempts a NY accent in some of her scenes, accent on the attempts. True that Clive is well-equipped to play a sociopath, but that's not acting that's his face.
The whole thing is a mess from start to finish. The only highlight was the period correct cars, if you're into that sort of thing. I'm giving it a 2 but only because there are actually worse films, but considering the cast here, this could easily have been a 1.
