Deadpool (2016)
Deadpool Review by Deadpool himself: Breaking the fourth wall!
You saw a bullet create a hole on my body in those trailers, though Indian censor had some culture supporting cuts, my movie is worth watching. Oh wait, you may be wondering why the Deadpool narrative review, that's because reviewers don't make me bleed! What do they usually start a review with? The storyline right, my movie doesn't have a great story to deal with; like those Marvel films, yes the Wolverine film, I hunt the ones who gave me super powers and get back my girl –but stop, I got a better love story here, Indian audience won't get to feel the 'love' completely. The plot isn't that twisting or philosophical uh...oh, I saw some of them complaining my lukewarm plot, were you expecting Nolan or what? You can actually relate my film to Guardians of the Galaxy, well, the whole pack wasn't as abusive as me indeed, but the fun factor resonates. May be, I could have coffee with those guys in some crossover film.
Yeah, I know that you all saw my Red band trailer, so you might've got an idea of what kinda superhero I'm- I'm of the rambunctious sort, thanks to my creators they have allowed me break the fourth wall and even re generate my body parts. I know that this thing interested you guys, you wanna see blood spurt in slow motion and the sharp blade take a full view on the screen, don't worry, though debutant, Tim Miller has packed stuff to keep you guys appealing, but nerds stay away. I'm not the type of superhero who protects the city; I'm neither a watchful guardian, nor a genius, billionaire, whatever. When you step into theaters, right from the opening credits, you stay entertained, even after the end credits. That's more important for me, when you get to see a sarcastic anti-hero like me, which is what matters more. I troll almost everyone I know, right from all those superheroes to that once-failed super hero guy, Ryan Reynolds. Uh oh, time to enter performance side, this guy is the show stealer of my film, he portrayed me in the most lovable manner, thanks man – hope you guys are reading this in his voice! Without his narration, my film wouldn't have been so effective, well, this role will patch is career. So cool he was. Ed Skrein too did his part well, he was sleek, and so were the ones who did the supportive mutants. Morenna Baccarin was sexy while TJ Miller had a couple of extra scenes than what you have seen in all the trailers combined. I did even spot Marvel's chairman, maybe he was being cautious of me breaking the fourth wall.
At the making part, as I've already said, Miller packed things together to make my movie as engaging and entertaining as possible, you won't feel even the slightest trace of bore. The action sequences are of top class, they appeal both visually and violently. Another factor that pumps energy is the music by Junkie XL, I know most of you've fallen in love with 'X Gon Give it to Ya', I saw the theater go crazy when I walked in slow motion for that song. Is there anything remaining to mention? Yes, editing was crisp with those sharp cuts and the film is technically brilliant.
You guys are still reading this? Aah, got it, the tail piece right? These days people make a statistical analysis of money spent on watching the film, I'm not gonna do that! If you wanna really see the different kinda superhero, I mean, anti-hero, go get your tickets, don't gather reasons to watch the torrent print. Though Indian censor tried to make me cultural, I'm still entertaining cause I'm Dead-f**king-pool! I hired this Sooraj Pattazhy to write this review as he was watching the film while I was slicing the baddies! I promised him that my fans are gonna shower this post with likes.
Ennu Ninte Moideen (2015)
Soulful Cinematic Experience!
Ennu Ninte Moideen: A Retrospect - The Best of 2015! The prime factor of a good movie, I consider, is ample amounts of emotion and, 'Ennu Ninte Moideen' is perfectly laced with apt amount of such emotions wherever needed. The movie started offering traces of thrill, and had an elevation which never took a drop. For its being a real story, one must appreciate the director, RS Vimal for blending hard emotions in a layer of humor and rebellion perfectly. The love story of Kaanchanamala and Moideen is purely evergreen; how were they able to expose so much of dedication, belief and love towards each other! Moideen was a real hero, he had the nerves of steel and a heart full of love, he is beyond doubts a personality of inspiration; not just for the affection he had for Kaanchana but also for the dedication he shown towards his land. While Moideen stands as an icon, there we have Kaanchanamala, epitome for boldness and perseverance! Along with them, the characters of Peruparambil Appu, Unni Moideen Haji and Kottatil Sethu had great prominence. When the characters are of such eminence, there requires actors of such caliber to perform them even. Prithviraj Sukumaran just lived as Moideen, he is one of the best actors I have ever seen! He is amazing me with his reputation and competence getting better by each movie. And, 'Moideen' lie as an example to prove his versatility in handling roles of any kind. His smile in the climax just filled my eyes! On par with Prithviraj, Parvathy pulls an equally brilliant performance as 'Kaanchanamala'; had all the boldness and zeal for the character. She too is surprising me with her selection of challenging roles. While these two actors shine, Sai Kumar perfected as Unni Moideen, one of the strongest characters in the recent times, the same in case of Lena. Along with these actors, Tovino Thomas and Bala come out as a surprise package in their roles of Appu and Sethu; Tovino is gonna make it great! When the story is eternal, there requires great skills to present it expressively on screen and this is where the director shine with immense support from the cinematographer and music directors. RS Vimal exposed the skill of an experienced director in his debut movie itself; his seven years of hard work was visible throughout the movie; it is his deep acquaintance with the subject that makes Moideen and Kanchanamala close to the heart! Jomon T John captures frames of greater quality that makes 'Ennu Ninte Moindeen' a high level cinema; one of the best cinematographed movies in Malayalam. At the music side, M.Jayachandran, Ramesh Narayan and Gopi Sunder offer beautiful songs while, Gopi Sunder's background score pulls the viewer's nerve; damn so effective it was! The soulful 'Mukkathe Penne' just raised the bar of emotion. Rafeeq Ahamed's lyrics were purely meaningful. Mahesh Narayanan edited the movie perfectly with notable pace in certain sequences. Even, the production values were rich with qualitative visual effects and sets offering that retro feel.
Overall, 'Ennu Ninte Moideen' is a soulful cinematic experience that brings one of the evergreen love stories close to our heart and thanks to RS Vimal for offering us this cinema! When the movie ended, the entire theatre was clapping and I sat there feeling the tears rolling on my cheeks.
Final Note: Must Watch; Undoubtedly the best movie of 2015! The house was fully packed for the 8:45AM show on Screen 4, Prasad's IMAX, Hyderabad in Dolby Atmos! This kind of applause and reception was never seen for a Malayalam Cinema; the atmosphere was exhilarating! With heartfelt respect to Moideen and Kanchanamala

The Martian (2015)
A solid space fiction!
The Martian (2015) : Movie Review "Space isn't that cooperative, but human beings are!" While most space fictions deal with the list line, The Martian stresses the second line, that we have a basic instinct to help others. A mission to Mars, an accident and a struggle for survival! This is what The Martian is all about.
Based on the book by Andy Weir, The Martian had a great story to deal with; A man stuck up in Mars, his fight for survival and the efforts by the humans to bring him home. Just look at the basic plot, this thing has something out of the world. But the plot is so unique that, this thing can easily formulate a boring tale; this is where The Martian makes a difference. The movie is laced with situational wits from the start to end, blended in layers of thrill; the comedy timing of Matt Damon as Mark Watney being the most gripping factor. I didn't expect such a character building; those dialogues just changed the atmosphere. Thanks that, we have ample amount of men on earth (read NASA) to beef up the trill factor, discussing and making space related stuff. While these things stand on one side, the riveting screenplay by Drew Goddard is what makes the viewer stick to seat, we always love to see something that is novel and The Martian has novel stuff in abundance; especially the hypothetical science matter! Though Watney's struggle is layered with humor and positive attitude, there could've been a better emotional approach, still no worries!
Coming to the making side, Ridley Scott, the maker of iconic science fictions, builds The Martian to the status of a solid space fiction. He made the imaginary plot into a 'could be based on real life' movie. The visuals were stunning with a deep feel of reality in it, the imagery of Mars being the most realistic ones. Even the outer space visuals were of standard quality; 3D works were spectacular, especially the ones in the beginning. Music by Harry Gregson-Williams was good at parts while Dariusz Wolski succeeded in capturing fresh frames. Editing was crisp without any boring sequences and the visual effects supervisor requires appreciation.
Matt Damon offers his career best performance as Mark Watney with unexpected sense of humor; chances for an Academy Nomination are high! Without his interesting performance, the movie would've been dry. Other noteworthy performances were from Jessica Chastain, Sean Bean and Jeff Daniels. Even Chiwetel Ejiofor's Vincent Kapoor was notable.
Overall, Ridley Scott's The Martian is a solid cinematic experience that not only entertains but also has something different. A movie that is embedded on the victory of human will power and courage; there were sequences where my spirit raised seeing the efforts by fellow human beings to save one. Though predictable, the climax offered a sense of satisfaction and happiness. Damn so realistic was the making!
Final Note: Must watch in 3D, for the ones who hunt for something different! But expecting an 'Interstellar' will offer disappointment for sure.
The house was fully packed for the 1PM show in Cinepolis CCPL Mall, Secunderabad. Real D 3D experience is something to the mentioned about.
Thank You
Black Mass (2015)
Near Classic; Strictly Criminal
Black Mass is strictly criminal; if Black Mass is a color specimen, then the canvas made out of it will be of grey, black and blue, so dark (read serious) is the movie. And, this seriousness is around the rise and characterization of James "Whitey" Bulger, one of the most notorious crime lords in US history and a strange alliance the FBI makes with him, which opens new chapters of loyalty, corruption, greed and betrayal with flavors of thrill.
Getting into the detail, the basic story is interesting, though I thought it to be a usual gangster rise and fall drama, Black Mass opened to be something different, it was more of a crime drama around Boston than a character centered biopic. For the story itself being 'stranger than fiction' stuff, the writers, Jez Butterworth and Mark Mallouk didn't have to make serious changes in the original plot; still certain things needed clarity. Though the emotional side of infamous agent, Connolly is dealt well, that of Mr. Bulger didn't have that impact; maybe he wasn't worth it. At the making side, Scott Copper paints the movie in grey, a mode of violence without any bloodshed. He was able to offer that generic feel of gangs around Boston in the latter half of 20th century; the presentation was damn too serious, perfectly fitting the narrative. Frames by Masanobu Takayanagi were of superior quality, certain slow paced shots had a classic feel. Music by Tom Holkenborg was matching Copper's narrative style without any heavy stuff; those score in climax were a scream. The movie was technically sound with appropriate color gradient. Dialogues were sharp enough to offer loud ears. The makeup team requires applause for offering that devilish look to Depp.
Coming to the acting side, Johnny Depp offers a high level performance as James "Whitey" Bulger; though his flexibility in pulling off different roles is known, this one will stand novel for its brutality of character and flawlessness in presentation. Those scenes where he panic John Morris and threaten Marianne just elevate the genius of an actor in him. While Depp exposes such versatility, there is Joel Edgerton who offers an equally brilliant performance as John Connolly, who too shares an equal space on script. His performance came out as a surprise package and offered an unnoticed emotional inclination for the plot. In addition to them, there is Benedict Cumberbatch as Bill Bulger, a role suiting him very well, though less on screen, he was good. Dakota Johnson, with appealing lips, seemed unused in a smaller role while Kevin Bacon, Jesse Plemons and David Harbour did their supportive roles well.
Overall, Scoot Copper's Black Mass is an engaging crime drama that throws light on the mobster activities around Boston in the second half of 20thcentury; though the movie has a slow paced narration, the amount of reality in theme makes the movie an enterprising watch.
Final Line: One of the best movies released this year; must watch for the ones who love serious movies..!
Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
An introductory part to a forthcoming epic drama
Bahubali: The Beginning_ My Review
The opening scene has an aged queen drowning herself protecting the life of a new born baby, presumably her grandson, thereby shielding a sovereign legacy. Generations carrying valor and vengeance blended with pride and kingship are what Bahubali offers, with a blockbuster package of breath-taking war sequences, sporadic landscapes and across-the-board epic drama. Though Bahubali has factors which stand out of a usual movie, there are certain things filling the negative side too.
Well, let's start with the making part. SS Rajamouli, a sealed logo of his name on the movie poster itself is a symbol of blockbuster and that repeats here, he packs everything perfectly but misses certain stuff that could've made Bahubali a classic beginning. He requires special applause for making a drama of this kind that raises the bar of Indian movies to the lines of certain foreign movies, that too in a comparably shoelace budget. His vision of building an empire called 'Mahishmathi' is supported by Sabu Cyril, Peter Hein and Senthil Kumar. Those mammoth size sets of Sabu Cyril itself offer that realistic feel of an epic kingdom, while Senthil Kumar ably captures them all, trying maximum to provide novel frames; whereas Peter Hein gives his best at the action sequences. On company of these men, there is MM Keeravani with gripping background score, which simply elevates every sequence to another level. There were more than a couple of sequences every hour offering goose bumps, mainly in the latter half. That quick climax just throbbed my spine, creating a hell of thrill.
While there are too many at the positive side, certain portions and misplacements disturb the mood. The supreme of them are songs, Manohari and Pacha Bottesina were purely avoidable songs, which not only disturb harmony but also lower the standard of the movie. Certain portions of Tamannah too required crop tool, especially the makeup scene, the director's attempt to mix stunt with beautification didn't come out well; seemed idiotic.
Epicness of characters is yet another interesting factor of Bahubali. Though Amerandra Bahubali and Bhallaladeva stay as usual hero and villain, the characters of Kattappa , Sivagami , Devasena, Kalakeya and Bijjaladeva make the plot look grand; Satyaraj's Kattappa inspired from 'Parvateshwar'of Shiva Trilogy, being the most interesting one. His performance was best among the actors; came out as a surprise package. Ramya Krishna's grandeur Sivagami was perfect, impeccable performance. Prabhas looked impressive with the character elevation offered to him; gave the best from him backed by macho looks. Daggubatti Rana looked good with cut shots and CGI action, had nothing great to perform, hope he gets better content in the Conclusion. Anushka's brief appearance was damn effective, whereas Tamannah revealed more skin than talent. Prabhakar's Kalakeya war lord was tailor made. Nasser was wonderful as expected.
On the whole, SS Rajamouli's Bahubali: The Beginning is an introductory part to a forthcoming epic drama, Bahubali: The Conclusion; though certain stereo elements and misplacements come as negative, the visible craftsmanship of talented men make The Beginning a great watch. The IMAX Big Screen Experience of this flick is worth mentioning.
Final Note: Brilliantly crafted; could've been better. _Sooraj Pattazhy
Indru Netru Naalai (2015)
Don't miss this time machine
Indru Netru Naalai(2015) Well, fiction blended with fun is always a great watch if crafted well, and Indru Netru Naalai is a local science fiction aptly mixed with fun and emotions. The plot taken here is 'time travel', an interesting, yet less explored theme on Indian screen. The movie has a time machine from the future, which accidentally falls onto the hands of two youngsters, who are trying to make fortune. We have seen movies like Interstellar or Looper which have projections from some certain point of time, making differences in some other point of time. The same kinda approach is adopted by director Ravi Kumar here, but he takes three pillars of comedy and a pillar of emotion to make the movie stand and that makes, Indru Netru Naalai an engaging watch. The director proves his mastery in the start itself, when Pulivetti writes his astrology exam in parallel with the life of Elango, and that scene just lighted the fuse to a string of comedies. He made the movie as simple as possible, without offering any complex stuff, the initial conversation between two scientists, funny yet simple explanation about time travel by that semi-mad scientist, everything made the plot simpler. While the genuine wits in initial half make one laugh to death, the interval block hooks thrill factor, continued by a fully engaging second half. Though, 'all-will-end-good' hope lessens the thrill factor, there was a curiosity about how they are going to end all these, and Ravi Kumar has succeeded in offering that ending, which closes loops, with small exception.
Coming to the performances, Kaunakaran just rocked all the way though he had that usual side-kick role, his comedy timing was simply superb, there was a great chemistry between him and the protagonist, Vishnu Vishal, who too equally impresses, mainly at the emotional scenes. While Mia George does decent job, Jayaprakash has a role made for him. Ravi Shankar's bad ass rowdy was perfect, and TM Karthik's Giridhara Parthasarathy was funnily awesome. A Vasanth's frames were of good quality and Leo Paul's cuts were crisp. Music by Hip Hop Tamizha lies as one of the major highlights of this movie, that theme music is simply addictive; back ground scores were of superior quality.
Overall, Indru Netru Naalai is an entertaining sci-fi which keeps us engaging from the start to end. 'Lag' doesn't even come around its surroundings; A movie that will be enjoyed for its novelty in plot, decent wits and clever scripting.
Final Word: Excellent
Chandrettan Evideya (2015)
Vintage Dileep impresses, where as Siddharth Bharathan makes his mark with gentle direction
Chandrettan Evideyaa? : Neither Classic nor Crap
It is always good to see actors coming back to form, in sense, doing roles which they fit well. This is one of the reasons which led me to watch Chandrettan Evideya, which is presumed to be the comeback of vintage Dileep from his crap entertainers. And it proved to be right; Dileep was perfect as Chandra Mohan, an officer at Secretariat, who is momentarily disturbed on phone by his over-caring wife, Sushuma, played by Anushree. Certain strings of incidents happen and a 1000year old story brings unexpected changes in support with the circumstances around.
This movie would've been a usual husband-going behind- another woman story, but Siddharth Bharatan's induction of a 1000 year old plot adds a flavor of novelty to the movie. Yes, Siddharth has done a good job as director, I liked his previous venture Nidra too, a director who tries maximum to avoid unwanted flaws. Chandrettan Evideya too was free from such flaws; one can't spot any serious mistakes, similarly no great surprises. Popping up of situational wits momentarily, adds a scent of comedy to the entire plot, in due course, Siddharth has also drawn concentration on building up of such a fragile story. Even though the climax portions seemed purely predictable, Siddhradth successfully placed a small thrill factor towards the end. Another factor which makes the movie engaging is its dialogues; they were simple, yet hilarious and meaningful at parts. Those Tamil dialogues were also good. Cinematography by Shyju Khalid was also the same, there weren't any so called novel frames or new gen camera works, all the scenes were simple, yet beautiful, offered a common feel. Music by Prashant Pillai was apt for the movie, that 'Vasanthamallikae' song was too good. Editing was crisp without any lag, trimmed perfectly.
There weren't too many characters in the film; Dileep was perfect in the role; that old 'Janapriyanaayakan' Dileep is back. But the one who draws attention is Anushree, she had all the emotions required for the character, one of the best actresses in present generation. Namitha Pramod was okay. Supporting roles by Chemban Vinod, KPAC Lalitha, Mukesh, Suraj were also good. But the one who surprised me is the one who acted as Sumesh, good handling of situational comedies. That Short appearance by Vinayakan evoked laughter.
Overall, Chandrettan Evideya is a light-hearted entertainer which can be enjoyed with a pleasant mind. Siddharth was successful in presenting the middle-class family drama in a gentle and enjoyable way. The small message he tried to pass was also effective.
My Rating: 7/10 A moon attains completion on the day of full moon day and every husband attains it when he is with his family, wholeheartedly.
There was about 25% occupancy in Sree Padmanabha Theatre, Punalur for matinée, 7/5/2015.
Thank You _Sooraj
Uttama Villain (2015)
The movie awaited by a this era, blended with mastery
Uttama Villain: Through my eyes Being one of the greatest filmmakers and actors Indian Cinema has ever seen when we go for a movie with Kamal Hassan tag, a quality of its own kind is expected, and Uttama Villain doesn't lag behind. It may not be a master piece, but Uttama Villain is a piece of Art, which has a lot of matter in it.
Uttama Villain draws a sketch over the life of Manoranjan, a Tamil Superstar, who wants to make a quality movie of his own standards. The movie in parallel with Manoranjan's story depicts the story of his movie, 'Uttama Villain', the story of a presumed to be immortal Theyyam artist.
There is a great significance in building up of the characters, Uttaman and Manoranjan, for which Kamalji requires applause, but revealing that significance kills the thrill factor. There are many such sequences which requires applause, like, the robotic dance of Kamal in 'Lovea Lovea' song, it took a few minutes for me to realize that the song was made too cinematic so as to fit in the masala movie of Manoranjan. Such a pump of reality is not seen in movies these days. But the main thing which makes 'Uttama Villain' close to heart is its appealing emotional factor. There were more than a couple of scenes which made my eyes wet. Kudos to Kamal Hassan for acting so perfectly and Ramesh Arvind for the emotional approach he has adopted.
While an emotional platform is laid for Manoranjan's story, there is a scent of humor for Uttaman's story. The poetic presentation of Uttaman's story seemed novel, even the trial of non-stereo wits offered the same novelty, yet, the entire plot of Uttaman had a half-baked outlook. When Manoranjan's story is so engaging, the story of Uttaman didn't offer that feel, instead, it offered a bit of lag, even the lag could've been justified, but that logically not that satisfying twist in climax made that lag of Uttaman's story futile. That error is negligible, yet it could've been made better, at least for the perfection built up in the entire movie. Those three poetic songs in Uttaman's story were well presented, especially, that last 'Iranyanin Kathai' song. Lyricist requires special applause for those meaningful lyrics, the story of Iraniyan in a single song.
Parallel scripting of both the plots keeping their respective genres untouched, Kamal requires applause. Not only for making such a heart touching script, but also by portraying the character, Kamal Hassan once again proves that he is a great story teller and the best actor alive. His acting was so perfect that it makes one's eyes wet. Some scenes like, Kamal talking with Jayaram, Playing ball with his son, His assistant reading letter, his daughter reading letter etc revealed Kamal's mastery in acting. One has to really experience it. These days when actors of fame go behind mass masala movies, it is great that Kamal did such a movie.
All the actors had characters of great importance.K. Balachander's portrayal of Guru was perfect, Uruvasi, Parvathy and Andrea excelled in their roles, while, Pooja Kumar stole certain frames with her beauty, she had even exposed her acting skills in that final song. Ashwin did a good role as son, while MS Bhaskar and Viswanath did justice to their roles. Special appearance by Jayaram was ideal, did it with required perfection. Nasser's idiotic antagonist was also effective.
Making by Ramesh Arvind was also good, made perfect use of technical aspects. He is gonna make it big in movies, Perfect direction for a movie of this kind. Cinematography by Shamdat was of good quality; especially the frames of Uttaman's story were good. But the one who surprised me was Ghibran, perfect music. Editor could've cut certain scenes better, seemed okayish.
Overall, Uttama Villain is a great attempt blended with mastery, which not only appeals emotionally, but also offers many implications. One can't leave theatre without tears if one watches it whole heartedly, once again thanks to Kamal Hassan for offering movies of this kind, while other top actors are busy with collections and mass image. Uttama Villain also draws light on the plight of Indian Cinema of today, where actors are trying to become superstars but not best actors. This will be one of the most discussed movies in future.
My Rating: 8/10 Movie is more of an art form than a medium of business, and the eternality of an actor depends on the quality of characters he does. An actor who makes good movies never dies; he will continue to live in the hearts of people. And, Kamal Hassan will be a 'mrityunjayan' , an immortal who will live forever, for the quality of characters he portrays and movies he make.
ThankYou _Sooraj Thailakshmi Theatre, Punalur had less than 20 people for the Morning Show, 5/7/2015
Temper (2015)
More than an entertainer, less than a path breaker
Temper: Sooraj Pattazhy's Review
Since Nenokkadine, only one telugu movie made me stick to ma seat during its climax. That is Temper. Yes, trendsetter Puri Jagannath is back with the 'actor' in Jr.NTR.
|Plot Sub Inspector Daya is a corrupt, brutal and cunning police officer, who is ready to go to any extent for making money. But he is stuck in a gruesome tragedy which opens a new beginning. The plot may seem usual one, but what Puri has is the store is a stunner.
|Making Trendsetter is what industry calls Puri Jagannath and Temper justifies it. He not only sets the trend in showing a Telugu hero in a never seen image, but also by offering a sentimental foundation for the script.
Vakkatnam Vamsi's story of a corrupt cop transforming is well scripted by the director. The way the movie travels and the unexpected surprises it opens to, really impresses the viewer.
The movie is free from unwanted action, bouncing of Hench men and mainly form crap comedies. Still, Temper has the traditional elements of a Telugu entertainer, which pulls it from being a classic.
Those small yet unwanted comedies of Ali, Saptagiri and idiotic behaviour of Kajal and Kovai Sarala could've been avoided or taken care of. The songs which come in between creates a great disturbance in the continuity ,even though they are beautifully made.
The stunning factor of the movie is its climax. Those penultimate moments of the movie was a scream. Those dialogues and performance of NTR stunned me. I didn't expect such surprises in the movie. Kudos to Puri for making Temper more of a sentimental-socially relevant drama than a time pass entertainer. Had he took care in the first half, Temper would have been a classic.
Dialogues were of top class, especially the ones between Posani and NTR about corruption. The ones in court scene too sparks thrill.
The movie also raises questions regarding the loops in our law which offers freedom for any criminal to commit crime. The movie also draws light on the corrupt system and problems faced by women. Kudos to Puri Jagannath for including this factor.
| Performances Jr NTR proves that the actor in him is still alive. One of the best performances in the recent times and the best form him. Hope he does non-stereo characters of these kind, rather than those in the masala entertainers. His dance moves were amazing as usual.
The next notable performance is from Posani. Never expected this form him. Prakash Raj rocks as usual while Tanikella Bharani touches our heart with his short role. Madhurima too exposed good acting skills, whereas Kajal revealed more skin. Kajal was just meant for that and for dancing in songs which come in equal intervals. The roles of Ali and Saptagari were purely unnecessary. There is even no trace of them after a few scenes.
| Technical Side Made in a ₹40cr+ budget, the movie was rich and had great visuals. Cinematography by Satyam K Naidu had novel frames, especially at those action sequences. The director's expertise in presenting mass scenes with greater elevation was visible on screen.
Songs by Anoop Rubens were good and foot tapping, especially Temper and item songs. BGM by Mani Sharma was good at parts. Had a great mass appeal at certain sequences, while the ones at certain moments seemed familiar.
Editing was good. Especially, those non-abusive cuts of torture. Action sequences were clean without more-than-a-human touch. That last fight scene was superb.
If we ignore those cliché elements in the first half, Temper is a stunning entertainer, which tops high due to brilliant performance by NTR and Puri's unconventional approach.
My Rating: 7.5/10 This Temperature won't be temporary...!
Sandhya 35MM at RTC X Roads had a fully packed house with heavy returns for the morning show on 14/2/2015. Thank You,
Sooraj
Picket 43 (2015)
A close to the heart military movie with superlative performances
Picket 43: A great friendship story studded with superlative performances.
Usually, the images of war, fight, shooting and some kinda rough stuff comes to our mind, when we think of an army movie. This is where Major Ravi makes a difference in our imagination with Picket 43, a simple and heart touching movie under the back drop of military.
The movie is all about the friendship between Hari, the Indian soldier at Picket 43, and his Pakistani counterpart. Iam not gonna reveal more as the movie is perfectly trimmed and revelation of anything more with destroy the thrill.
Coming to the making section, Major Ravi, the one who made path-breaking war films in Malayalam Industry, is back in great form. With Joemon T John as DOP, Major Ravi has offered novelty to most of the frames, a different kind of making actually. Scripting too requires applause, especially for the thrilling and crispy presentation of that storyline. The movie starts off slowly and proceeds slowly, only to gain speed in its latter parts. The initial half of movie passed off too simply without offering anything new, but as the movie proceeds, it got more interesting, and ended in an excellent way. Last 30 minutes of the movie was a scream, one really gets goosebumps in those emotional scenes. To be frank, I never expected such a brilliant making from Major Ravi. Kudos ji. This time, he also depicts various scenarios in Pakistan too. Both the lead roles were well balanced.
But, the show stealer was Prithviraj. What a performance man...! That dialogue delivery and performance in the climax sequences was superb.Hari will be a memorable role in his carrier, the actor who is banking on success, has yet another feather on his cap. His selection of characters too require applause. The other notable performance was from Javed Jaffery. Major has got the correct man for this role. Javed was perfect fit in his character. The duo of Javed nd Prithviraj was damn perfect. Renji Panicker is also seen in a good role. Harish Peradi's brief role was also impressive.
The other highlight factor in the film is Cinematography of Joemon T John. Frames were of top class. Even the lighter scenes had shots of great brilliancy. Kudos man. BG Score by Rex Vijayan offered novel approach and songs by Rateesh Vega were greatly impressive. Action sequences were perfect, neither too much nor too less.
The movie was good at its technical side too. Had a rich feel.
Though the family elements were presented well, that actress seemed so dumb. Except for. some forgettable slow pace in the first half, Picket 43 is an excellent movie, which touches the viewer's heart. I didn't know when ma eyes got tears. Damn effective the movie was. There was a huge applause when the movie finised. Mohanlal's narration was also good.
My Rating : 8/10 Don't miss visiting this Picket.

I (2015)
Can be called as Vikram's I rather than Shanker's I.
"I" : How I felt Shanker's magnum opus I starring Vikram is huge, but doesn't reach the expected levels of hype.
I was obviously the most-awaited movie of the year, I was damn waiting for this flick since the teaser release months ago. The main elements of expectations were Shanker and Vikram, for the former's history of great flicks and the latter's talent and dedication. Rahman's music, P.C.Sreeram's frames everything was a matter of hype.... when I heard about Suresh Gopi's presence my level of expectations increased. Being a great movie lover, I was unable to resist myself from watching the movie the first day itself.
Now,coming to the experience of the magnum opus,
the story of the movie is told in two time lines, one is that of a hunchback man who kidnaps a supermodel from her wedding and the other, is his past with her. All together, the movie draws a sketch over the life of a gym master-turned- model, Ligeshwar aka Lee.
Initially, Director Shankar pushes the viewer into a forest of thrill called "I". As the viewer proceeds, he finds it interesting and wonderful, the visuals and colors mesmerizes the viewer, but, as the viewer reaches a stage of Shanker's magnum opus forest, the roads become clearer, it becomes no more a forest, the viewer one who is able to recollect one dialoge of the first stages, find the forest nothing but a projection of huge trees and a single beast called Vikram. Finally, when the movie ends, the viewer realizes that, the 'so called' troubling paths of forest were just usual roads and the forest is usual except for some visually appealing elements, action sequences and that heavy beast called Vikram.
Yes, what you have read is correct. Shanker fails to meet expectations. I do accept that "I" is a visual wonder and treat for eyes, one can easily go crazy for those action sequences and compelling background score. Shanker really requires applause for the heights of technical brilliance he has achieved, but only visuals can't appeal the viewer, there should be a solid script which makes the viewer engaging. Yes, he keeps us engaged, takes to some level of expectation and what he delivered in pen-ultimate sequences is inside the circle of imagination, anyone could easily predict the movie as it precedes further. Had there was something which is out of the box, "I" would have been a mile-stone. It may satisfy a viewer who has normal expectations, but I am not satisfied to the core. But certain elements made "I" enterprising. The supreme of them is the jaw-dropping performance of Vikram. What an actor man...!!! How can a person expose so much dedication and hard work...! Had he committed a slight mistake, I would have been an epic failure, but he makes it stand. His transformation of characters require special applause, from start to end, it is Vikram show. 'Lee' was so effective only due to his versatility in acting and perfection in body language. The next factor is Shanker's making. Even though the scripting failed, his making was awesome. Each frame had novelty. Presented the average script in an engaging manner. Took the visuals to another level of experience. Next is undoubtedly, the maestro's music, AR Rahman's music was of top class, offered life to the movie. That BGM of main villain was terrific PC Sreeram's frames offered treat to eyes. Colouring effects were wonderful. Certain shots had an international outlook. ANL Arasu's action sequences were of great excellence, had a world class touch in it. Weta-Workshop made the make up works look damn realistic. Kudos to their work. A mixture of all these fore told elements offered a visual wonder but script still remained average.
Coming to the performances of others, Amy Jackson had a role of good importance unlike the hero-oriented flicks of these days. She was beautiful and sexy...filled the space of beauty quotient. Did her part well. Remarkable performance was from Suresh Gopi, did his job with utmost perfection. Upen Patel's negative role was impressive, where, Santhanam took charge over the comedy track. The other characters too did their part well.
Art direction too requires applause, that advertisement song (Aila Aila) was creativity brilliant and Beast song (Ennod Nee Irunthaal) had great visual excellence.
The movie had a brilliant technical crew, which require special applause for the visual experience.
Mind blowing Vikram, Stylish Making, Top Class Action sequences and wonderful visuals, altogether makes "I" huge, which makes the viewer engaging but lags behind only due to not-that- compelling script.
Kudos to Vikram again....you are a great actor....really great :)
My Rating: 7/10 Go for it, Vikram's performance is enough to make your money worth.

PK (2014)
Meaningfully Funny. Sarcastic Approach Makes it funnier but Content
PK : Simple But Content. Meaningfully Funny
"Belief is the ignition switch that gets you off the launching pad." - Demos Waitley
PK is a simple story of an alien, which falls on the earth, sorry, on our India. May be, the simplest alien story ever told. An extra-terrestrial being visits our Earth, but loses the transporter remote of his space ship. Its journey to find the remote forms the crux of the movie, which throws light on the present spiritual scenario of our country, in a compelling and sarcastic manner.
Belief is the force which drives humans to take certain decisions. A hope or belief in anything could make wonders. But the same belief in something 'wrong', welcomes disasters. The fruit of our life depends on what we decide to believe and what we don't. PK successfully questions this 'belief factor', which is being made a medium of business by spiritual leaders and Babas. It raises serious questions regarding the differentiation of religions among humans and the need for that differentiation. It also highlights some points regarding certain rituals and the way human belief is being exploited in the name of God.
Discussing the 'most-discussed topic' i.e, about the existence of God is a complex matter. But Rajkumar Hirani's compelling narrative style explains this complex topic in a much simpler and funny way.. Scripting was perfect, but it reminded 'Oh My God' at certain instants, may be a mere chance of coincidence. Making was simple with comic and feel good moments. But it is an Aamir Khan show in all aspects. His own mannerisms make the character of Mr.PK, close to heart and memorable. This is what we call breaking free of stereo roles. His expressions were novel and antics were funny. Anushka Sharma too did a neat job, supported by Boman Irani, extended cameo roles of Sushanth Singh Rajput and Sanjay Dutt. Saurabh Shukla also rendered appreciable performance as Babaji
The movie excelled in its technical side too. Cinematography was perfect, offered a good feel to the movie. Certain frames by CK Muraleedharan were new and gave a fresh feel. Music gave the film another feel, theme was good but songs could have been better. Editing by Hirani was crisp without any lag in between. Movie had a rich feel, Visual Effects were also of top class.
Overall, Hirani's PK is a thought provoking film, presented in an entertaining way.
My Rating: 4/5 Don't miss this alien Wait for a special guest appearance in post-climax.

Yevadu (2014)
Reiterating Twice the same traditional plot with the mask of a Hollywood film
Yevadu _ My Review
Yes, Yevadu has got a very interesting story line, but falls short to some extent due to the easily predictable poor narration and inevitable logic less flaws.
Coming to the story, Sathya's lover Deepthi is killed in front of him and being incapable of fighting them, he is also brutally attacked and the bus in which they were,is burnt. But surprisingly,Satya escapes death by a half burnt face and 70%burns on the body. When the doctors too leave him, a lady doc takes the risk of saving him and, by a surgery, she gives him a "new face". Then, with the new face, Satya seeks revenge on the villains. The plot of the film ends in the first half ends, with an exciting bang in the interval, growing excitement among the viewers.
The first half of the movie was dangerously fast, with some unwanted and failed comedies of Brahmanandam. Only that TV show sequence evoked few wits. But the second half seemed to reiterate the usual story. The second half, even, drew similarities with that of Nayak. A better second half could have made out Yevadu a remarkable film.
Vamsi Paidipally is successful to some extent to make Yevadu a mass film with different plot. He copied, sorry..... Inspired the basic theme of #Face Off, and planted it into the most heard, usual revenge drama. But he isn't successful here. In the film, we can see a Ramcharan coming out after, Allu Arjun undergoes surgery. The biggest flaw is regarding the Voices. A viewer may doubt, how a person's voice and physique changes after a plastic surgery... There are many such sequences, for eg. The police offices, chasing the target "alone", by driving the jeep.....just a qn of logic. The most ironical scene is that, "when Ram Charan hits an enormous gate with his hand, it just explodes into pieces" Hmmmm.....even superman may get jealous of him.... Let it be, these are common in Telugu films, but the makers must remember one thing that, All the Viewers aren't fools.
#Ram Charan carries the film on his shoulders with his heavy action and foot tapping steps. But he always had only one expression on his face....wanna improve a lot in that section...
There were too many villains and unwanted heroines in the movie. Amy Jackson offered a beach song....bikniwala song. Shruthi had 2 songs and Kajal got 1. It is better not to mention abt the actress.
The Villains, i don't remember the number, were each of them inspired from each super hit films. The tollywood villain pack was complete with, a politician, a gunda, a land mafia wala, his goons, Hench boys, a mafia don, bro of mafia don and an inevitable police officer.
Brahmanandam was wasted in the movie.
Even though, Ram Charan tops high, #Allu Arjun's cameo appearance in 2 scenes seemed more impact able. That hand drawn picture of Allu Arjun just, roared the theater.
#DSP offered average tunes, with the song, "Cheliya Cheliya" offering a good feel.
Action sequences were of top notch with good cinematography. But certain sequences seemed very much familiar.
The tollywood tradition of slapping and extragerration is continued here.
A better narration, correct use of available characters and, some corrections in script could've done better.
Overall, Yevadu is a mass film with different theme, which slowly draws itself into the class of usual revenge dramas.
My Rating: 2.5/5

Arrambam (2013)
Stylish Action Thriller in Ajith style with Vishnuvardhan trademark
#AArambham _ My Review
Risky Shots, Impulsive Action and Salt n' Pepper looks, Thala is back in a power packed role.
Aarambham was undoubtedly the most awaited Tamil movie of the year. The hype factor was nothing but Thala. The additional star cast of Aarya, Nayanz and VishnuVardhan in the director's slot increased the hype of the film. Happy to see a Thala film on large screen
The film opens in Mumbai, where Thala is seen implanting bombs in three important centres of the city. The bomb blasts create a great havoc in the city, meanwhile, Arjun(Aarya), an expertise in computer hacking meets his college mate Maya (Nayanthara) in an airport, on his way to Mumbai. On racing Mumbai, Maya is kidnapped by Ashok(Ajith) and Arjun is blackmailed by him to hack certain systems. The reason behind Ashok hacking the networks, forms the crux of the film
The story of the film is just mediocre. The first half, which started slowly with the love of Arjun etc, caught its pace in no time and managed to keep the viewer in excitement. The villainous behavior of Thala added an extra flavor of thrill in the first half. That fatty avatar of Arya too was interesting. The pre interval and interval action sequences were of top notch. Those bomb blasting scenes in the start offered a realistic feel. The interval block makes the viewer stick to the seat. But the second half didn't had the pace of the first half. The same, repeated revenge drama, same old wine, but the interesting thing is that, Vishnuvardhan offered the old wine in a much refreshing and stylish manner, through the hands of an energetic Ajith. The bullet proof jacket spam etc seemed to be novel. The 2nd half too caught its pace towards the climax and ended up with an action packed episode of gun firing and a small message.
VishnuVardhan "made it simple" by concentrating more on style and action, offering less to the content. A better reason in the second half would have made Aarambham great.
The film also throws light on the affected system and corrupt leaders of our country. But the fact is that, the same thing is seen in almost all films of these days. Through the character, Ramya Radhakrishnan, VV, takes a dig at the media and press, which slavishly serves certain corrupt leaders.
Vishnu Vardhan's stylish and racy direction, makes Aarambham interesting.A better script could have done better. There are some mistakes, unanswered questions and flaws left behind, but considering the genre of the film, they can be avoided to certain extent
#Thala Ajith's energetic screen presence, both as a handsome cop and rustic villain were excellent. Salt n' pepper style with mind blowing action sequences, Thala rocked.....he stands special. Simple presentation of a powerful role, only Thala can do it. Unexplainables are hard to explain, they are to be experienced, that is what Thala in Aarambham. ASHOK was a powerful character, but there wasn't any kind of exaggeration or over praising, which makes Aarambham different from usual top hero flicks.
Aarya added fun quotient to the film. That fatty avatar was really a surprise. In the midst of racy sequences, some genuine wits by Arya makes us laugh.
Nayanthara is really an eye candy. Was hot as usual, had nothing important to do.
The rest of the cast including, Atul Kulkarni and Mahesh Malkejkar were fit to their roles. Kishore and RaNa were perfect in their brief roles....especially Kishore. Tapsee had nothing to do, except to utter the word, "baby", a hundred times.
#Yuvan Shanker Raja, offered average songs, but the BGM scored high, with the mood of the film.
Cinematography by Om Prakash is another highlight of the film. Best in the recent times.
Other remarkable things are, high octane action sequences and qualitative VFX. Technically Brilliant. Editing was crisp. Some scenes could've been trimmed off.
On the whole, AArambham is a racy action thriller, studded with all necessary elements, except for some flaws in the second half.
If I compare this with the action flicks of the recent times, I will say that, Aarambham is Brilliant. Better than the movies of other top guns released this year.
My rating: 3.75/5 Tok....Tok....Tok Thankyou for reading ma review.... Yours truly Sooraj
Memories (2013)
Yet another Good Thriller from Prithviraj
Memories _ My Review
Finally watched the movie #Memories starring #Prithviraj , directed by #Jeethu_Joseph...
When Prithvi and Jeethu, the actor and director with consecutive hit films, joined for a new venture, the expectations were already high and when the resultant movie too opened to highly positive response, naturally I was dying to watch it...
I never expected that I could watch it in a theater.... First of all, thanks to the managers of Seema theatre, Pathanapuram for making me watch this flick...
Coming to the film.... As I expected, Memories is really an excellent work, which can be sorted into the list of the best movies released this year....
Sam Alex, who was one of the most efficient police officers, becomes a full time drunkard after the death of his wife and daughter...but his senior officer, who wants to make him right, asks Sam Alew to investigate a sensational case....
The first half of Memories is filled with the memories of Sam Alex and him getting into the case, while the latter half is racy with intelligent sequences...
First of all, I have to mention #Prithviraj for his excellent characterization as #SamAlex... I cannot imagine anyother actor except, Prithvi in this role.... He excelled as Drunkard.... Those mannerisms of him as a drunkard investigating and finding clues were really interesting and seemed novel to me... A diametrically opposite character from Antony Moses.... Prithvi is the man, on whose shoulders, Memories lies.... There was naturality in every scene and makes the viewer involve into the character.... The emotions of a sad man and sharpness of an intelligent cop were portaryed well by Prithvi...
The next is... #Jeethu_Joseph.... The man who made Memores and Sam Alex... He wrote and directed the movie aptly without unnecessary sequences..... He directed the movie very well...those rescue operation scenes in the start and end were superb..... There was a kind of freshness in each and every scene... He has done the script of the movie too in a much interesting manner, filled with memories and findings... Those finding of clues, assumptions etc made by Sam Alex were really interesting.....kudos to Jeethu for that...
There was no lag at any time and Jeethu managed to make Memories a complete thriller.....
The reason behind killing the victims and the kind of killing etc, seemed to be new and refreshing....Bringing in certain elements of Christianity into the crime is really interesting....
Climax, even though predictable to some context, managed to be a thrilling one, with intelligent sequences...
During the chase sequence b/w Sam Alex and the killer, two men sitting near me laughed....fools, they never realise that, a full time drunkard, who is already drunk, cannot run much in the rain...
Camera work of the movie is really an appreciable one.... Action sequences were also sleek... Mafia Sasi...u rock man...
Coming to the musical section... there are two songs and both are worth hearing and are well picturised... The BGM was just good....even though it is matching the mood of the film, it could've been made much more impactive....
The idea of placing graphics in between some scenes was very good.....
The rest of the cast including Vijaya Raghavan, Vanitha, Mia, Meghna.....etc too done their parts well,. Finally, Rahul Madhav got a good film...he was also good...was matching the role as Prithvi's brother
Even though, Jeethu managed to make Memories a perfect thriller, there was no explanation for how an individual alone could commit such crimes, mainly hanging the victims in such heights......he should've made an explanation for that... Excluding that, there is nothing to be categorized as negative in the movie.....
In the whole, #Memories is an excellent family thriller, blended with all elements of family, emotions and thrill....
My rating: 8/10 ......EXCELLENT....... One of the best movies of 2013......don't miss it... Memories Never Die.....
Thanks for reading ma review.....Any mistakes should be forgiven....
Pandiya Naadu (2013)
A new outlook for revenge dramas
aandiya Naadu- My Review
Finally watched Pandiyanaadu starring Vishal directed by versatile director Suseenthiran.....
Coming to the film....
| #Plot
Shiva (played by Vishal), is an ordinary guy working in a mobile shop. After killing his opponent, local mafia don, Ravi takes complete control over Palnadu and rules it with an iron fist. Siva's brother, a honest govt officer, gets killed by Ravi for opposing his unlawful mining acts. A helpless Shiva, plans to avenge the death of his brother.......meanwhile, he finds that his father too is on the floor to kill Ravi.... The basic story of the film is nothing but the most seen subject #Revenge.....But I must say that director Suseenthiran gave re- birth to the so called subject, "Revenge" and made Pandiyanaadu an excellent flick.....He didn't follow the traditional route followed by most of the film makers, instead, he made his own way..... in fact, he is popular for his different making, which we have seen in Vennela Kabadi Kuzhu, Nan Mahan Alla and recently, Aadhalaal Kaadhal Seiveer......
| #Building_Up
Sussenthiran and Bhaskar Shakti were successful in building up an excellent script for a wafer thin plot. The ''most seen'' story had a different presentation, offering a great feel to the viewers. Every character was close to the heart and the director was able to expose the mind or soul of every character. Especially, the character of #Shiva, it was intense and realistic. From the start to end, there was no transformation in the character of Shiva..In usual films, we see a meek hero transforming into a Super Man to avenge the death....but here, there was no such trans\formation of character ...Vishal too,was able to present it in a much realistic manner.....Kudos to the writers for this ordinary Shiva. A slowly started Pandiyanaadu, gained its pace slowly. Certain wits and comedy sequences in the start were interesting. Soori had some funny scenes to his credit in the first half. The first half passed off breezily in a good manner but the latter half was racy and engaging.
| #Performances
#Vishal rendered brilliant performance......Woow.... No words to say.....Excellent characterization as Shiva. He excelled as an ordinary man. There was no transformation in his character at any point of the film. Watch the film to experience it....No Mass Action No Punch Dialogues, Still the best role from Vishal. Those mannerisms of him in certain sequences, particularly realistic action sequences in the climax were wonderful. The fear and sadness in his face, even during killing the villain were appreciably good.....
Next person I have to mention here is #Bharathiraja....Never expected such performance from him.Mind Blowing.... A character close to the heart. The sadness and anger of an ordinary person, who lost his son, were well presented by him.......Excellent.
The rest of the cast including Lakshmi Menon, Soori and Vikranth rendered good performances. Other mentionable roles were of our villains, Harish Uthaman and Sharath Lohitaswa, both of them were perfect in their roles.
| #Making
Sussenthiran's versatility was visible in every scene of the film.......He had a much realistic approach and excellent direction for the well written script.
R.Madhi's cinematography is yet another highlight of the film. Was able to capture the locations very well...offered a good feel. The BGMs were matching the mood of the film but D.Imaan's songs weren't up to the mark. Could've been done better. I donno why Suseenthiran choose him.....Usually Yuvan used to compose for him...Technically, the movie was superb....Colouring was also good....
A song of Vishal and Lakshmi in the second half could have been avoided, Really misplaced and unwanted. Except that, nothing negative.....
Realistic Direction, Appreciable Performances and tight Script makes Pandiyanaadu an Enterprising Film, in all contexts...
My Rating: 4/5 Verdict: Very Good
Must watch for good film lovers....
Thank You For Reading My Review
Yours Truly Sooraj.. :)
1 - Nenokkadine (2014)
The Best Film Ever from Tollywood. The Read Path-Breaker
1 Nenokkadine_ My Review
Finally watched the film, which I have been eagerly waiting for.... 1 Nenokkadine
If anyone takes a close examination of the Telugu film industry, there are a very few flicks, which it can proudly present in front of the centenarian Indian Film Industry. Even the so called Technically Brilliant films, had the same story line. People are fed up with the concept of reiterating the same plot. This time, through "1", Sukumar changes the face of TFI by bringing in a fresh plot, never experimented in Indian Films. First of all, kudos to Sukumar, ma Thumbs Up for Mahesh and a big salute to The 14 Reels for taking the risk of produce this "non- stereotypic" flick.
Directed by Sukumar, "1" has, Mahesh in the role of a Rockstar Gautham, suffering from Psychological problems. Gautham creates an imaginary world and the projections of his past haunts him...The "One", who is unable to differentiate b/w the real and the virtual. I don't wan't to reveal more....Even If I reveal, the readers are not gonna understand it.... "The unexplainable are hard to be explained. They are to be Experienced" ....Watch the movie and reveal 'em yourself
1 Nenokkadine, is a movie of its own kind, which tops high on its script, highly impulsive action sequences and impeccable performance...
Im gonna start with #Mahesh , The "one" who took up the challenge of changing the face of TFI, changed the view of audience abt a Telugu Hero. He rocked as usual, he was perfect. He has given his own mannerisms to the character. Certain Emotional Sequences were really hair raising. I am not yet out of the character " Gautham ", done with such a perfection and uniqueness.......Any other actor could have certainly dumped this film.... Mahesh was leaner an fitter, than usual. He danced very well. Great steps in Sayanora and Oh My love Songs.... He was highly energetic. The actor's best performance till date...
This performance is an open challenge to the so called top guns of the industry.
These days, anyone can do Mass roles, but these kinda roles are for Mahesh. Polishing his Super Star Title...
The Next is, #Sukumar ,the film director and writer.... The story line he has experimented with is never seen in TFI. Racy Direction and Classy Script. I have watched the trimmed version, there wasn't any lag in between anywhere... "1" had a "multi layered" plot. The movie went on exploring many subplots, confusing the viewer, but, once the hidden plots reveal, the basic theme becomes clearer and enterprisingly thrilling. Special Appreciation to Sukumar for this brilliant Script...
The rest of the cast including Kriti Sanon, Pradeep Rawant, Nassar and Kelly were good in their roles...
#Kriti Sanon, did her part very well, never gave the feel of a débutant.....Danced Very well....A bright future ahead.... Aww Tujo Mokh Korta....
The Antagonists were also good. They were great in the climax...
Mahesh's son Gautham is introduced in this film. Another Star on the way....
Another remarkable things are, #DSP's Music. Devi Sri Prasad, u are really a rock star.... All the songs were excellent. Great Tunes... Who R U?..... Superb... The BackGround Score was perfectly matching the mood of the film.... Especially, that route indicating song... Chandrabose penned the lyrics, matching the film's theme...
Ratnavel's cinematography and "qualitative VFX", makes the film much more interesting, kind of extra flavor added to a brilliant plot.
Peter Hein's stunts were of top class....Were to the range of a Hollywood film.....offered great Standard
Dialogues too were of top class. Heart touching in certain sequences. Some On liners by Mahesh were correctly placed. Shiyaji Shinde and Posani, drew few genuine wits in the first and second halves respectively...
There was no lag in between, the trimmed version is really thrilling.... The item song could've been avoided... No negative was observed by me, except one thing that, those flirting sequences. Those too aren't unwanted, while considering the plot.... The plot was usual, but the mode of presentation of the plot was novel....
The film continues, even after the climax. The post climax scenes were of great intelligence and offered an emotional touch.
The only thing u have to do is to invest your thoughts into the film.
A Quality film, which is sure to be enjoyed by people, who have the ability to THINK...
The best Telugu Film Ever Released....
Finally, special applause for Ram Achanta, Gopichand Achanta and Anil Sunkara for producing this brilliant film....
Response: The theater roared for the intro of Mahesh and Who R U Song... There were claps for the intelligent sequences....
A Small Message to Love Our Parents was well placed in the climax......
My Rating: 4.5/5 Don't Miss, if U have the ability to think...
Thank You for Reading Ma Review... Yours Truly... Sooraj
North 24 Kaatham (2013)
A Refreshing Journey
North 24 Kaatham (2013)
Debutant Director Anil Radhakrishan's North 24 Kaatham (N24K) is close to the heart and deals with multiple plots like Harthal, psychological issues and for instance, goodness and love.....
N24K has got a refreshing plot of how certain circumstances make Hari, a brilliant but meek and geeky techie meet two strangers, Gopalan, a veteran politician, and Narayani, a social worker and his journey with them from Paravoor in the South to Kozhikode in the North part of Kerala. The movie is all about their journey which inturn becomes a life changing experience for geeky Hari.
A good content makes the script half successful, and fully successful, when it is free from flaws and lags. This is the place where dir. Anil tops high. The script was error free without any boring sequences. The movie started very slowly in an interesting manner and the first half passed in a breezy manner, but the movie became much more interesting in the second half and ended with a beautiful climax. The penultimate sequences were really close to the heart and offered a great feel.
The movie presents the helping nature and the selfishness of people, vividly. The problems faced by a malayalee on a "strike" day seemed much realistic and close to the day to day life, notable in case of that gulf malayalee, played by Chemban Vinod.
Anil didn't limit his film to a "harthal" day film, rather, he has even discussed some psychological issues, love and goodness. Being a debutant, he was highly successful in presenting the well written script in an enterprising manner on screen. Anil has added flavors of humor and thrill, making N24K an entertainer in all aspects.
A well written script becomes a good movie mainly due to the excellence in performance..... This is where N24K strikes high.... Superlative Performance from #Fahad_Faasil remains as one of the highlights of the film. Certain mannerisms of him were really awesome. The not sudden but Slow transformation in Hari's mentality from a geeky guy to a well mannered loving man was excellently portrayed by Fahad. A promising actor with great caliber.....
#Nedumudi_Venu too exposed his versatility through the character,Gopalan. It was tailor made for him. Handled it with such an ease. My opinion is that, he should stop doing those formulatic oldie roles and concentrate on characters with good potential.
The rest of the cast including #Swathi Reddy and #Chemban Vinod were perfect in their roles. But the character of #Premji Amaren was surprisingly interesting....superb characterization....
The film excels in its technical side too.... BGM was matching the mood of the film.....especially of those in penultimate scenes. Songs were also good, with the last song offering a great feel.
Camera was also handled in a good manner. Being a road movie, Cinematography is important and Jayesh Nair was successful in capturing great frames.
On the whole, North 24 Kaatham is an entertainer of its own kind, without any lags. One of the best films of the recent times, which can easily be sorted into the list of best films of 2013
The film passes a beautiful message that, "Even if you are the most brilliant, you can reach your goals only by the help or caring of some people, irrespective of their status.....We may belong to different races, cultures and religions but our basic human qualities are the same. The common core values and a beautiful heart are far more important. "
My Rating: 4/5 A movie close to the heart, sure to be liked by common people...
Thank You for reading my views about North 24 Kaatham....
_Yours Truly Sooraj.
Lingaa (2014)
Feast for Thalaivar Fans.Vintage Rajnikanth keeps the screen on fire, but.....
Lingaa
My Review
What do we expect from a Rajnikanth film, which is already labeled as a mass entertainer? Only Pure Mass and, Lingaa offers it to a good level, except for the hilariously horrible climax.
Directed by KS Ravikumar, the movie is about Raja Lingeshwara, his efforts and sacrifice to build a dam, which will be beneficial for 10 generations.
The movie started in a good manner showing the present situation of dam and gave intro to few villains. The dam-checker dies requesting to open the closed temple. And, the village head urges that, only the heir to Raja Lingeshwara should open the temple, as it was built by him. And, there comes Linga(Rajnikanth), understands the greatness of his Grandpa, Raja Lingeshwara(Again Rajnikanth) and protects the dam from villains.
The story line has nothing great in it, but presentation in an engaging manner makes Lingaa watchable. The comedy track by Rajni nd Santhanam with Anushka kept the first half engaging. Those heist scenes were also funny. But the movie entered kick-ass mode after the intro of Vintage Rajnikanth as Raja Lingeshwara. Those flash back scenes, in the pre-independence period, were near class with a good amount of mass content in it. Once those flash back scenes end, the movie enters into crap-mode eventually leading to a horrible climax. Those actions sequences seemed so funny that, I was unable to stop ma laugh.
Coming to performances, Rajnikanth is the life of the film
.A to Z, it is Rajni show. The movie required a superstar for the role and Rajnikanth was perfect. He kept the screen on fire as Raja Lingeshwara. He looked young at 64 with unmatchable screen-presence, mass dialogues, action sequences and dance moves, everything in Rajni style. Santhanam took charge over the comedy track with a few genuine wits. Coming to the heroines, Sonakshi Sinha had a rather important role than Anushka and she did justice to her role. Anushka had nothing to do except to reveal more skin, especially in Gasolina song. The one who acted as British Collector was also good. Dev Gill's good man role seemed novel. Jagapathy Babu was an unwanted antagonist, still did his part very well. Rest of the supporting cast did their usual jobs. Brief appearance of Brahmanandam was too crappy to be enjoyed.
Coming to the making side
KS Ravikumar didn't do justice to his job completely. I felt that, his concentration was fully on the flash- back part and left the other parts loose. A better script in those ending parts would have made Lingaa memorable. His direction seemed just okayish.Technically the movie didn't seem that rich. Songs were misplaced and certain scenes lacked basic logic. Pon Kumaran's story was good enough to build a decent script, but KSR screwed it with his crappy scripting in the end portions. How can one jump from bike to a parachute, then roll over it with a rope, fight with the villain, kill him, rescue the heroine from falling and kick-away the bomb into the dam that too all these in a span of less than 3minutes
.!!! May be Rajnikanth can do it
.but it felt too funny to enjoy.
Coming to the technical side, Music by AR Rahman was good. BGM was of top class but seemed normal at certain scenes. Songs could have been better, only a couple of them were good. Choreography of 'En Mannava' song was awesome. Editing wasn't crisp, certain portions could've been trimmed off. Action sequences in that Train Fight was of top class. Visual effects didn't seem that realistic except for a few shots in the train fight and dam building scenes. VFX in Gasolina song wasn't that fine. Camera work was of good quality. Kudos to Ratnavelu.
Overall, Lingaa adjusts itself to an average fare without offering anything new. Watch the film for impeccable screen presence of Superstar and those energetic flash back scenes.

Interstellar (2014)
From now, Sci-Fis will be categorized as, Before Interstellar and After Interstellar
Interstellar _ My Experience Love is the only thing that transcends Time and Space
I am not sure whether I am intelligent enough to review this film, but as a normal viewer, I am going to share my views about the Interstellar Experience.
My Interstellar experience started even before watching the film itself, I spent some time, brushing up my knowledge about the theories discussed in the film. The advantage of being a Physics student made my work easy. In fact, the movie became much more understandable.
In the near future, our earth becomes more polluted and human beings have to find a new home to survive or at least to stop their species from extinction. NASA sends a group of explorers into a newly discovered wormhole to find a habitable land for the humans. This is just the basic plot of a wonderful experience.
This is a Christopher Nolan film and he wants the viewer to have some basic knowledge of physics to understand the film. He is best known for the novelty in themes and the emotional approach he takes. The Dark Knight Trilogy director maintains his trademark of elevating the content than the characters. Nolan literally takes us to the outer space, from earth to various planets through the wormhole. One would really feel oneself as Cooper while watching the film. Placing some unexpected events in between, the writer amazes the viewer. Especially, the climax. The final phases of Interstellar were mind-blowing and thought provoking. I was blown away by the ideals Nolan placed in the penultimate scenes. The concept of fifth dimensional sequences inside the tesseract came out as a surprise, those sequences were beyond my imagination. One of the best climaxes ever. While watching the climax, only one thought appeared in my mind, "How can this Nolan be so brilliant and imaginative
!"
Special Kudos to the Nolan brothers for those excellent and heart touching dialogues. Even in the simpler scenes, certain dialogues came out as wonder.
Nolan wanted to express something which any space exploration film didn't express: the eternity of love. The emotional approach Nolan takes to describe the father-daughter relationship between Cooper and Murph was heart touching. He even draws a sketch over the life of space explorers. How they spend years of their life, selflessly, searching for something that will be beneficial for the people on the earth, keeping their lives at risk. The unnoticed friendship between Cooper & TARS and the light humor they produce, proves Nolan's mastery in presenting complex subjects in a simpler way.
Christopher Nolan's films which are known for their utmost brilliancy in making also have memorable characters and Interstellar is no exception. Oscar winning Matthew McConaughey, perfected as Cooper. Cooper will always remain as one of the most remarkable characters of all time. He excelled in the emotional scenes. I felt like crying, when Cooper watches the recorded videos sent to him from the earth, such perfection. Anne Hathaway and Miachel Caine too delivered memorable performances as Amelia Brand and Professor Brand. Anne was good in the emotional scenes, especially in the scene, she reveals her love for Edmund. Miachel Caine had an important role this time, a lengthy one indeed. The kid Murph came out as a surprise, Mackenzie Foy had all the emotions required for the character. Jessica Chastain too delivered good performance as the adult Murph. Casey Affleck 's negative shaded Tom and Matt Damon's extended cameo appearance as Dr.Mann were also interesting. The two robotic characters, TARS and CASE too had equal importance in the story line. TARS will surely be remembered as one of the best robotic characters of all time.
Music by Hans Zimmer and camera works by Hoyte van Hoytema makes Nolan's simple approach to the complex theme successful. Zimmer offered scores matching the mood of the film, in fact, certain scenes were too silent to be enjoyed, could have made better. Cinematography by Hoytema was a work of wonder. Nolan didn't use any great graphics or anything. He used limited amount of Visual Effects, concentrating more on the subject. So, this film will be a better experience for the ones who believe that content of the film is more important than Visual Effects.
Interstellar is more of an experience than a film. Missing this film on Big Screen will end in deep regression.
Special Note to the ones who are going for this film: In this film explorers are seen rotating their space ship, usual audience may not be able to understand the theory behind it i.e., the creation of artificial gravity. There are many such moments in the film, which are related to deeper physics. So before watching the film, just go through the topics such as, artificial gravity, wormholes, neutron star, relativity, time dilation and tesseract. An idea about these topic make the Interstellar experience an easier one.
I will be able to understand the film "completely" only after watching it again. I am fully satisfied with this Experience. I will be a able to rate this film only after watching it again.
"In this universe, there is time, there is space, there is gravity and there is 'love among human beings', which is much more powerful than all other universal parameters."
I Thank Christopher Nolan for this Interstellar Experience.

Mumbai Police (2013)
Breaking Free of Stereotype Police Stories
MUMBAI POLICE _ MY REVIEW
Finally Watched Mumbai Police....
As of me, Mumbai Police was the most expected malayalam film of 2013, as was penned by Bobby Sanjay duo....directed by Roshann Andrews and it had some of industry's good actors including Jayasurya, Rahman and my favourite Prithviraj Sukumaran I was planning to watch this movie at the time of its release itself, but unfortunately, my annual examinations too were of the same time and I missed this flick in Theatre.... And after 4 months of its theatrical release, I have watched it...
First of all I want to mention one thing... As I visit Facebook and other movie discussion websites frequently, the climax twist and suspense elements were already exposed to me.... A punch on the face of those who revealed suspense in social medias....These type of fellows never change.....degraders.... Even though the suspense was revealed, the script of Bobby Sanjay, offered a lot of thrill and was successful in satisfying me to the core...
The story of the film is known to most of us.... Three friends....three of them are high level police officers. One of them gets killed and one of them solves it out...Before he could reveal the murderer, he gets into an accident and looses his memory... Inspite of his memory loss, his senior officer, who is the third friend , asks him to solve the case once again and find the killer.
The story of the movie is known to most of us and hence, there is no need of explanation in that part..
I liked the movie very much......
First of all.....I applaud #Bobby_Sanjay for thinking out of the box and presenting us such a film... They have always been ma favourites....especially Ayaluum Njanum Thammil.... Their lateral thinking has delivered many good movies such as Ente Veedu Appunteyum, Notebook, Traffic, Ayalum Njanum Thammil and now Mumbai Police.. And if we make a small comparison, each movie is of different genre and had something variety in it, which breaks the boundaries of usual malayalam cinema...
Breaking free of stereotype Hero oriented films, the ANTAGONIST is focused more in this film, and the highlight of the movie is that, both the protagonist and antagonist is the same person. Kudos to them for this Brilliant Script... Super.....Super....Superb..... The best script writes....of this generation.... Quality dialogues and genuine wits in the film, showcases their talent...
Out of their brilliant Minds.....they have created one of the most powerful characters of the recent times, Antony Moses. And Antony Mosses was safe in the hands of Prithviraj. #Prithviraj delivered an wholesome performance. One of The best characterizations of the recent times....... He excelled in his roles, as rude and villainous Rascal Mosses and memory lost person, who cannot remember his history..... The mannerisms of a person who is haunted by his bad history is successfully portrayed by Prithvi. Those climax sequences were really terrific and requires great appreciation. That Bewildered Antony Mosses in climax scenes were superb.....kudos.... This is a character that none dares to play..... The character of Antony Mosses is the true definition for BOLDNESS... Breaking free of usual stereotypic heroes
#Jayasurya as Aryan John too rendered superb performance, with a good role matching him... Energetic Performance,....
#Rahman, with an equally important role, excelled in his character as Farhan.. Super.... "Farhan.....You are a Brrilliant Police Officer" :)
The trio of Prithvi..Jayasurya and Rahman worked out well.....Great casting
Other actors including Kunjan, Aparna Nair and the one who acted as Roy.. etc did their part well Kunjan's oath was superb......It remembers the duties and responsibilities of a police officer.....
#Roshann_Andrews is a director, who is known for his rich making.... His direction seemed to be apt for this dark shaded thriller...
Music by #Gopi_Sunder too was of top notch..... The Theme Music is still hearin' in ma ears...loved it...
Good camera work was visible in every scene of the movie...
Climax of the film...was really wonderful one.......I Liked it.... Even though it was revealed before watching this film, the way the script travels towards the climax was really thrilling one.... That Blue car's green colour.....automated Gun etc seemed to be an indication for coming of age thrillers in malayalam cinema...
The film is something beyond usual police films....
Totally..... Mumbai Police is one of the best thrillerrs of the recent times, with brilliant script and bold performance from Prithviraj...
Superb.... My rating: 9/10
Must watch in my views...
Thank You for reading my review.... Any mistakes should be forgiven.....Yours truly.....Sooraj Pattazhy
