Steptoe and Son: Divided We Stand (1972)
Put the ballet back on!
An incredible episode, the genius of Galton and Simpson to split the house down the middle will mean this episode will be regarded as one of the best they did. It is littered with wonderful lines and scenes but my favorite is while they tried to watch the television, they have half a screen each so decide that on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays Harold would choose, On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays Albert would choose. They would each get alternate Sundays.
Harold: Tonight is Wednesday,I have the law of contract on my side. Albert: Yeah but I have the knobs on mine.
The turnstile in the hallway is another brilliant stroke, chalking up the pennies going in and having a share out at the end of the year, you always knew Albert would add a few to his score.
Grand Slam (1978)
A wonderful film with a bit of rugby.
What goes on tour stays on tour. Well not this time anyway, the boys from a small welsh village are away to France for the Grandslam match.
A truly delightful film to watch again and again regardless of your nationality and sport you follow. Mog and the boys do what they can to make the weekend one to remember, which includes strip clubs, dust ups and getting collars felt by the local Gendarme.
"Some have been know not to make it to the match, some were known not to get back to Wales" warns Mog.
I wholly recommend this film.
