Captain America: Civil War (2016)
When action and story become one
First of I've got to say that this is a masterpiece in combining a story with action. Yeah explosions, fighting and stuff - but you actually care about it all.
Secondly, here is my good/bad summary:
+ A damn good story! The conflict is built up believably and there is a reason for every choice a character make. It's a dramatic good vs good fight and you are conflicted in who to root for. There are several parallel stories, like the introduction of the new character Black Panther. Such parallel stories risk to mix badly with the main story but here that isn't the case. 10/10
+ Action (duh). Not only it's fantastic visuals, but it also help telling the story. If you love explosions and fist fighting: you'll love it. If you love fleshed out fights where you really feel something: you'll love it. 10/10
+ Cinemaography. What to say? The visuals perfectly set the tone of every moment 10/10
+ Acting. Very good. Every character feel true and relatable, you can feel their inner conflicts. 8/10
+ Spiderman, Black Panther and Ant-man. Do I have to say more? They are all seamlessly introduced and even Black Panther who has a pretty strong story arc are perfectly built-up without taking any focus from the main story. And by the way: this Peter Parker is my favourite up to date! :D
+ The blending of each element stated above is done so good. Great action scenes and a lot of storytelling tend to be difficult to blend, resulting in pointless action sequences and a lot of "character development" that feels out of place. This clearly isn't the case here. 10/10
Now my biggest (and only BTW) complaint about the movie is - ironically - about the story: it could have been even stronger. You do have a big conflict between good and good, but I think it's to much to call it a "civil war". So there were multiple things that split the Avengers up which I feel could have been built up even more, and possibly intertwined to make a greater impact, making the split more final than it were now.
So all in all: very well-made, very enjoyable with great action and story. Highly recommended! :)
Bamse och tjuvstaden (2014)
The reborn of traditional animation and nostalgia
I have to say I've never been so excited over a new movie being released. And for once it's not because of the story but because of the fact that its actually made. Does it make any sense? Well, I grew up with Bamse as every child grew up with Disneys. Now when I've grew older (around 18 now) I can only look back at the era of hand traditional animated movies. Since many years I have mourned the "end" of traditional animation since Disney switched to CGI. Time moves on, it always have been. Or?
Suddenly I hear about a Bamse movie being made, headed for the big screen in traditional animation with no other driving forces than creativity! Suddenly I live in the best of the worlds... Even money doesn't seem to matter - which is one of the reasons Disney quit with traditional animation. A sparkle of hope has been lit...
My point is that this movie has clearly not been made to tell the story of an epic adventure of our beloved bear, but to tell about our very beloved bear.
But this is a review, right?
So here are (in my opinion) the goodies and the baddies:
+ The nostalgia (have I mentioned it earlier? Oh yeah...) + That every character have an own voice + The animation, it's simply beautiful + The cute but important moral of the story, that friendship is whats most important
- The lip syncing
- it seems as the Taiwanese studio based the lips on an English dialog.
- The story was pretty simple - nostalgia doesn't exclude an interesting story
- The proportions of the characters - this is hardly noticeable, but the characters have a bit "cuter" design in this movie than the classic Bamse.
And here is the worst baddie of them all: that this movie wasn't made earlier!!!
