The Gray Man (2022)
I'm rooting for nexflix
But whoever directed this sucks. I had to play the movie twice in the beginning to understand the plot and I still don't fully understand it. Not matter what the film is terribly flawed from the outset.
The Host (2020)
Boy oh boy
Maybe I should get it a higher mark because it kept me entertained enough to actually watch the entire film because it SO bad. I can't think of anything that was done well in this film. The cinematography was fair, acting pretty bad, screenplay yikes.
Reacher (2022)
Got Reacher right
This 8 was because they got Reacher pretty close to the Reacher in the novels. The story was good and the cast was fine. I would give this a seven if it wasn't for the fact that I liked seeing Reacher on film. Nothing deep, no great acting etc. But it was entertaining.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Really a wing and a miss for Tarantino
The casting, cinematography and character development was excellent But....
There's no cohesive story, I understand it was a period piece and supposed to be a statement or feeling for Hollywood but it falls apart. It is the worst Tarantino movie ever I my opinion because it fails on the plot or story. It is unfinished or has no real direction. At the end it feels unfinished and ends up just being a failure.
Ray Donovan: The Movie (2022)
Brutal
I basically watched the entire series and then the movie in a day and a half. It was done extremely well and the performances were excellent all the way to the end. What a dismal tale but there is some redemption I suppose but it left me despondent which I suppose is a natural reaction to such a bleak tale.
Fast Color (2018)
Wow
Really surprised by this movie. I just happened across it, never heard of it. I'm surprised that it doesn't have a higher rating but I found it very special.
Titane (2021)
Entertaining
This movie kept me guessing that's for sure. It ended up not making any sense but that's ok because it was a trip. Great filming, great acting, bizarre.
Dune: Part One (2021)
Stunning visuals
I gave this a seven because it was really amazing visually. The cast was tremendous. But it was really slow and it fell short sort wise. I know it's following the story but they took the entire film to tell half of a story. I was disappointed.
Mr. Robot (2015)
Overall 9
Very very good series. It really was ground breaking. I felt it lost it's momentum around the third season but ending up coming back around in the fourth with a strong conclusion. One of the best series every created.
The Boys (2019)
Disappointing
This series had a lot going for it. Really cool premise. A group of good superhero bad guys who had a bad good guy hunt them down one by one, great premise. On top of that great CGI and cinematography, certainly some good cast picks in there. But here's the thing you make the main character, the boyfriend a total weak unlikable self imposed victim running under everyone's feet exuding weakness everywhere. He's a non-man, it sickened me.
Peaky Blinders (2013)
I tried
You know I tried to get into this series. I tried several times. It is enticing, the cast, the acting, the cinematography. But it just didn't seem to have any real direction or story. Odd.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Ruined
I'm giving a 8 because of how excellent it was when it ended at season 8. They should have ended the series right there but I can only think they needed to squeeze every cent out of what TWD built. Season 9 was terrible, I couldn't watch it, it was just terrible. The end of Season eight actually made me cry, I never cry. Probably haven't cried for 10 years and then they put out a cheesy soap opera in season 9. I am disgusted.
The Green Knight (2021)
Truly uneventful
This movie was so bad that I can't remember one as uneventful. It's like a quest without anything happening.
Tales from the Loop (2020)
Unusual
This series took its time. It looks like there not going to renew the series fir a second season which is a shame because it was special in its own way. And maybe it was done anyway. The series was comfortable with silence and it had a definite felling throughout the film. I think it was definitely worth watching and they accomplished the overarching story well.
Sweet Tooth (2021)
Nice family series
Good family series. It's done very nicely. The cinematography and casting is well done. Really nothing negative to say about it.
Retfærdighedens ryttere (2020)
Could be a 10
Wow! What an exceptional movie. A true gem of a film 🎥 . Everything was done right here. Not sure why it doesn't have a higher rating on IMDB.
This film is comedic, it seriously tackles trauma, PSD, and a father daughter relationship all wrapped up in an action film.
The performances done by each character is phenomenal. Each character is well defined.
The cinematography is excellent even though you'll tend not to notice because you'll be so into the film. This is a movie I'll have to watch again partly because it's sub titled and partly to catch all the great cues and scenes.
Lastly there's some pretty cool action scenes that are performed well. The gun play is way realistic as I can enjoy knowing the difference.
If you are in the mood for a foreign film this ones for you. You and your wife or girlfriend can enjoy it together.
Fatman (2020)
Surprisingly good
I saw this had a low rating so I was going in with low expectations but I was really surprised. Right off the bat I thought it was going well. I kept waiting for it to disappoint but it never did.
This movie is dark. Perhaps that's why it was not received well. I thought it was inventive and the film kept me wondering what was coming next. I like that.
Jupiter's Legacy (2021)
Surprisingly bad
I'm sorry I don't like to be negative. I watched the entire season but wow. On the positive side it has nice cinematography, the casting was good. The sound and effects were great. But the dialogue was infantile. It was so basic and ham fisted as they say. I just don't understand how a series can have all this money and energy put into it and be so badly done. It's really disappointing, I don't get it.
The Marksman (2021)
Tremendously bad
I really like Liam but this was terrible on all fronts. He shoots with a scope with both eyes open! You can't do that, only with a red dots, not a scope. I was appalled. Liam actually doesn't know how to shoot a rifle, I'm baffled. The bad guys keep just randomly finding them. They set a bad guy on an overpass to give word when they enter a major city, so silly. He calls I'm "the're Here", unbelievable. Pathetic film, but I did laugh some, so there's that. Lol.
Calm with Horses (2019)
Very good 8 1/2
Cosmo Jarvis is very interesting on film. He did a fantastic performance in this film. The film was a bit slow but the performances all the way around were spot on.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Blahh
It took four hours to make a two hour movie. The four hours went by fast enough but Not once did I get an emotional response. That on top of exposition after exposition. I don't care about all the silly reviews this movie sucked. It had great effects and it wasn't awful but for all the money and screen time it was a failure.
Gotham (2014)
Barely an eight
It's overly dramatic but I think that's ok because it knows that it is and it's a comic book story. It just falls short or a soap opera which I'm thankful for. It has enough going on not to get too boring although I'll admit it is kinda boring.
The Expanse (2015)
Soap opera
So yeah it's done pretty well. The special effects are top notch and the cinematography is nice. But ultimately it's turned into a soap opera. I can't give it high marks.
Army of Darkness (1992)
Classic
Really the best horror comedy ever made. Ash is too cool, the actor really owns the role and the directing was perfect. I really show give it a higher rating. I guess it's just that I don't rate comedies higher than this. If you haven't seen this watch it, it's groovy...
Insomnia (2002)
Solid 7.5
There wasn't anything glaringly wrong with this film. The performance of Pacino was good and Robin Williams was interesting. It was intense and fatiguing. I can't put my finger on why it isn't an 8 or even higher. Maybe the plot was too simple but no not really, hmmm
