Mapa (2020)
Beautifully written, heavy weight yet funny and cool
Rarely do I watch German shows. This one is unexpected. I am a fan of Max Mauff. Love his performance in movies and TV shows. In this one, he really delivered something.
But I am most impressed by the writing, the script of the show. When I was watching the last episode, the structure calls back to the beginning of the show. I felt like gut-punched, tears were rolling down. The writing is so intricate and so well-thought, structurally and emotionally.
I do also enjoy the small quirky little details and jokes and how Emma is so cool and Max got pissed. It is cool stuff. The show also tried to address social issue with the big background of Berlin.
It's definitely a good show, and the script is just superb.
Fractured (2019)
Very predictable...
I would say the plot is basically predictable since the beginning...
Although the writer tried to "confuse" the audience. But if you have some logic, you would find the ending is very very predicted from the beginning.
Undone (2019)
Alma is really disturbing, using her sister and disrupting people's lives
I don't understand why the writers are hating so much Alma. The character is really unlikeable. She thinks she is always right and she is the center of the Universe, and she manipulate other people and cast her idea to others and force them to follow. This is really awful and difficult to be enjoyed. .
Land of Dreams (2021)
Disappointed by the production
The production could be much better with even a lower budget. I can just feel that there are some sloppiness here and there. Also, the solo part of the leading actress is too straightforward.
Spencer (2021)
Kristen is acting too hard
While we should appreciate the hard work of Kristen, but it's also distracting by the way she speaks, which seems from her acting too hard so as being a bit hysterical... this is not the Diana in real life.
Machuca (2004)
a coming-of-age under a huge historical moment
I am a fan of coming-of-age movies. They always touches me, maybe because the stories are told from the point of views of kids.
The coming-of-age stories are embedded under some huge historical moment, the 1973 Chilean coup d'état. The historical event is part of Chilean's collective memory. It influences everyone. Even today, as a foreigner, I observe the division between classes.
I think from this movie, as a non-Chilean, I can form a better understanding of the country. Recommend it!
Young Royals (2021)
An authentic portrait of a modern royal teen drama
I really enjoy the plots. Firstly, the actors are in proper age, no over aged actors (not saying they are bad, but just suitable for acting teens). Secondly, the characters are written in flesh and bones as teens, who have flaws and acting irrationally. Thirdly, there is no over dramatic plots but things happen in real life.
The biggest tension is definitely the END of the royal blood vs true love. The ending leaves us a big suspense and we are all pumped to see Season 2!
