All the Light We Cannot See (2023)
Phenomenal
I put this on as a bit of background TV this evening, whilst I tucked into the latest edition of Football Manager Mobile as Netflix are offering that free to subscribers.
Within 20 minutes I was intrigued.
Within an hour I was gripped.
4 hours later and I can state that this is nothing short of phenomenal and truly gripping.
It's heart warming, tragic, beautiful and above all, a true 10/10 series.
Please do not sleep on this, and don't judge a book by its cover. I thought the synopsis sounded as dull as dishwater but it downplays its greatness so much.
This is epic, this is great.
Please watch this.
The Night Agent (2023)
This has definitely gone under the radar
Yes in parts it's a little cliched, however this has definitely gone under the radar.
It's a great watch from the outset with plenty of twists and turns along the way. It's a rollercoaster from the outset with bangs, high action, mystery and deceit.
It's one of those shows, that should a season 2 that is equally as good, this is going to pick up major traction.
It's got no actors that jump out as being "major" when you look at the cast list. Again, don't let that put you off. I'd imagine some of them will star in other shows, which will again lead people back to watching this.
All in all, a solid 9/10.
House of the Dragon: Driftmark (2022)
The end of the Beginning
This is what we've been building up to.
This is the start of the Dance With Dragons.
This is the best episode of Game of Thrones in Four years
This was, by far and away the best episode of the series so far and I'm hoping we'll finally kick into gear.
It really picked up a great pace and so much was crammed into this episode, after the previous episodes jumped around a little but seemed slow at the same time.
We've finished with character development now and this was what we've all craved for so long.
Great storytelling, great cinematography and I can't wait to see next weeks episode.
This has just exploded!
House of the Dragon (2022)
It'll always get the unenviable comparison to GOT
Okay, so after 3 episodes. My honest opinion.
Let's cut to the chase. If this wasn't linked to GOT, how many would still be watching it?
It's slow, it's kinda boring and not a lot happens.
I know GoT was like this at times, however I'm hoping this is the build up for what is set to come (having read the books).
It'll always get compared against GoTs and at the moment, this feels bland and if this wasn't related, I'd most likely have given up.
The crab feeder - how short was that battle? It sort of feels like the last season of GoT where they rushed through a lid of stuff as it felt needless to them. This adds character to people though. Can you imagine if we'd condensed the tragedy of Ned Stark into 3 episodes?
The Bubble (2022)
So so bad
Not funny.
Not clever.
Not watchable.
Painful and epitomises what Netflix does wrong.
It's just terrible from the start. I'd state it's the worst Netflix production that I've ever watched.
Eternals (2021)
A sleeping masterpiece
I don't understand the poor reviews on this.
Has marvel really lowered the expectation, or altered the standard to what is perceived as cinematic masterpiece. Don't expect the Avengers, this isn't what this is. This is the eternals and this is a new story arch.
I feel that this could be viewed as the beginning of something special.
Wrong Turn (2021)
If they'd called this "The Foundation"......
It seems most of the poor reviews here are due to this film being a reboot of the "Wrong Turn" franchise.
Quite simply, that's a mistake and they shouldn't have done that. If it would have been called "The Foundation", it would have a higher rating.
If you take this film in isolation, it's actually not that bad at all.m, it bot a little different but messy at times.
Seaspiracy (2021)
No one can do everything; everyone can do something.
It's incredibly thought provoking and gives a different take on the "damage to the ocean" debate.
Beneath (2013)
I've swam bigger lakes.
The entire concept is stupid.
Top that off with the lake being about 50 feet wide ....... they could have gone about 20 foot and got off.
Dumb concept, dumb film.
The Society (2019)
Season 2?
I found this to be a little bit boring after the first couple of episodes. I popped onto IMDb and read a few reviews, which encouraged me to continue watching.
Stick with it, it's worth it.
Hubie Halloween (2020)
The voice
Unwatchable and I like Adam Sandler.
Parts of it sounded like he was mumbling. Unwatchable as far as I was concerned.
Joker (2019)
2 hours of my life I won't get back
I struggled.....
15 minutes in and I'm waiting for something to happen.
It's boring.
Decent acting but no plot. I wasn't entertained at all.
This was badly overhyped and I actually debated just not finishing it at all.
The Order (2019)
Get past the first view episodes ....
When I watched the first few episodes, I thought what on Earth. The first episodes are actually the worst over the 2 seasons.
After that, it improves and I've enjoyed binge watching it.
It isn't polished, some of the acting is a bit hoe hum. It isn't perfect but it's watchable.
Play or Die (2019)
Genuinely horrendous
I've watched some junk in my time, however this takes the biscuit.
The spoiler isn't even that much of a twist, as we've seen it before. The main character is the killer. Well shock!!!!!
Save yourself the effort and watch the other option that you were considering.
The Big Show Show (2020)
As expected
My wife, 5 year old daughter and I watched this together. The episodes are only 20 minutes long each. We got a few laughs and the story flows through episodes. We all enjoyed it.
It doesn't take itself too serious.
COBRA (2020)
Why the hate?
I'm not sure why this is being hated on so much.
It's different and more interesting than some of the recent stuff that is currently rated higher than this.
Captain Marvel (2019)
An extra star for the cat
Car crash of a movie.
I felt at time's like I was watching Star Wars.
I don't like Star Wars. I'm so glad I've only watched this today, as it bore no meaningful need to be watched, prior to me seeing End Game when it was released.
Save yourself a few hours ... and don't be like me.
Accident (2017)
WOW
I've had more fun, watching paint dry.
Talk about car crash, it's a car crash of a movie!!
