Damal (2022)
Tries hard but fails to engage and portray any meaningful message
Extremely loud and meaningless background music that doesn't sync with the visuals. The movie seems very rushed with out any consistency among the scenes and any meaningful back stories of the lead characters. It heavily relies on gore and violence to trigger emotions which falls due to the absence of any meaningful script and story. The visuals are something I expect out of a mediocre action film but this movie wasn't one of them and I expected better visuals considering it is a sports drama movie.
Disappointing acting, although the actors and actresses aren't to be blamed. As the saying goes, no actor can rise above a bad script.
Mirzapur: Dhenkul (2020)
I don't even understand the low ratings.
Who are you people ? Maybe extreme violence isn't your thing, but that doesn't mean you should be dismissive of such a masterpiece calling it bad and a waste of time. I would suggest getting a grip on your taste of content since I've seen reviews of people complaining about bad words. This is a series that is based on the lives of Gangsters, corrupt politicians and the story revolves around people who are willing to go to any length for power. If you are expecting these people to hold conversations like your typical sitcom characters chilling in a coffee shop, maybe this is not for you. Maybe watch Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah or something on that line.
The series is an epic saga of violence, sexual exploitation and hunger for power which is very much reflective of the current political and social status of various Indian cultures. Hats off to all the characters for their performance. The storyline is great and while there are minor mistakes here and there, those things are not enough to spoil your engagement to the series and I can guarantee that you will enjoy the dark comedy and extreme violence this series has to offer.
Asur: Welcome to Your Dark Side (2020)
Ghatiya TV series
This series had caught my eyes with its first episode where a gruesome murder takes place. The first 2 episodes were engaging but the show went downhill from episode 3 and I lost complete interest on the series by episode 4. The story line is so bad that recalling some of the scenes made me want to laugh hysterically. Ershad Warsi did a terrible job in playing his role and made me cringe every time he spoke a dialogue. There are ninja blades flying out of a coffin that kills several policemen while the serial killer is inside the coffin risking his own life for what ?! "To look cool". The sheer amount of absurdity in this TV series made it seem like another B grade superhero series with 150 IQ serial killer who also happens to be a pandit that murders people based on their Kundli. I mean come on!
I Am Sam (2001)
True definition of Love
I've waited too long to watch this film and I realize that the predictability of stupidity can never be underestimated. As we all know Sean Penn is a great actor but this must be his BEST performance. His acting makes the movie very original and extremely emotional. The film puts out the value of Love to ones family and its strength very nicely. The movie gives a joy ride of humor and thrill and does with great excellence. This is one of those movies which you can watch over and over again and not feel bored. Apart from great acting from the great cast and crew the movie has a great storyline which will keep you attached to it the whole time. Its very artistic and genuine and to me personally it feels underrated.
A great family movie and recommended to every one out there. You just cannot dislike this masterpiece.
Oldeuboi (2003)
Ohh my God!!!
I've seen some pretty twisted and sick movies but this has to be the number one on my list by far. The movie isn't filled with blood and gore but its mentally sickening. The movie starts with a mystery and everything starts to make sense as you keep watching this masterpiece. Min-sik Choi does a great performance acting and is a complete badass throughout the movie. Every moments are filled with mystery and thrills creating a hell of a ride. Now this isn't a movie for those who are faint hearted and are easily disturbed by taboos i.e. incest etc..So if you can't tolerate such things it might not be for you.
The movie is recommend to anyone who is looking for the wtf moment after finishing the movie cause I can guarantee you would get goosebumps every time you think about the film.
Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma (1975)
Not Entertaining, Yet Very realistic !
Salo is a kind of film that will make the viewer confused weather he likes the movie or not and that's the beauty of it. It is different from those films which concentrates on disturbing the viewers with violence while making it entertaining whereas Salo makes its audiences realize violence is not meant to be entertaining rather disgusting and unmerciful. It concentrates on both physical and mental torture that will leave the audience thinking about the film long after they've watched it. Its one of those films that makes you think "Gosh I hope that never happens to anybody" The violence in this movie builds up gradually and are the least expected ones. One of the things that makes the movie so horrifying is that the sort of things shown in the movie can actually happen in real life and had me confused if it actually did! There is no hope for the victims, they are trapped and their only option is to choose between dying a fast or slow death.
