The Roommate (2011)
Masterfully crafted!
When I learned that Christian Christiansen was directing this movie, it instantly went on to my must watch list. Anything from an Oscar nominated director such as Christiansen is going to be cinematic gold. Also having two of the elite actresses such as Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly in the leading roles certainly make a great film that much better. It is no wonder both were nominated at the MTV Movie Awards for the electric performances that they both put out in The Roommate. The Roommate is easily an A list movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. It draws you in and commands your attention as you will wonder what will happen next. I can say this is easily one of the top three movies of 2011 and in my opinion, one of the top 10 movies of all time. If you enjoy suspense filled thrillers, this movie is definitely for you!
Super (2010)
Bad all around
I have been a big fan of James Gunn and this movie shows why. I thought I would give it a chance because it starred Rainn Wilson. He however needs to just stick to The Office. The movie was extremely boring with really no plot interesting enough to follow. It was nonsensical. It tried to insert some humor throughout various parts, but those attempts failed miserably. The acting was terrible, embarrassing and painful to watch. Without hesitation, I would rather watch grass grow for a month straight than to have to sit through this again. The one thing I did eagerly anticipate in this movie was its ending so I did not have to endure any more of it. If you like stupid, senseless, pointless, and extremely poorly movies, then Super is right up your alley. Don't waste the time in your life that I did by watching this. You will regret it.
BloodRayne: The Third Reich (2011)
Boll Delivers Again!
I eagerly anticipated watching this movie, as I do all of Boll's projects, and I must say it was worth the wait, well worth it! Definitely one of Boll's finest projects to date. I won't go into the storyline as I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. Just watching this movie is time well spent if you enjoy an excellent storyline and superb acting. I have always been a huge fan of Natassia Malthe and needless to say, she did not disappoint. She was in top form and as always, it was a pleasure to watch her work. I am also a big fan of Clint Howard as I have followed almost all of his work in his brilliant 48 year acting career. As with Malthe, Howard performed brilliantly. The rest of the cast gave outstanding performances as this movie was a true joy to watch. All around, it was excellent in every aspect and is a movie I will enjoy watching again and again. I would definitely recommend this title to anyone who enjoys excellent films and top notch acting with a world class director in Boll at the helms. Well done!
Session (2011)
Must see!
A definite must see psychological thriller. It kept me constantly on the edge of my seat eagerly anticipating what would happen next. I don't understand the low ratings as this was easily the best movie I have seen all year. I could watch this movie over and over again. It is definitely one that will go into my classics vault. I thought the acting was superb and this movie was very well written and directed. Bar Refaeli is definitely on her way to the top if she continues to put out performances like she did in this masterpiece. I am eagerly awaiting more projects from her. Tom Bower was excellent as well. As I said, I was constantly awaiting what would happen next. Haim Bouzaglo masterfully directed and I will be looking for more of his work as a result of Session.
