Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love Kingdom Movie (2019)
Anime concert
This is an anime concert for perhaps die-hard fans of the show/j-pop. But I don't quite fit into that demographic and there is no plot, and so this movie was not for me. But it was rather interesting to see the combination of characters that were put together to perform individual songs.
Hakuouki (2010)
Sadness earned
A terribly sad show because it manages to make one care deeply about the characters. The (male) main characters were well developed and their relationships with others are a joy to watch.
Burazâzu konfurikuto (2013)
Ridiculous but fun
Superficial story and characters, but the show's fun and has some funny moments. Heroine is bland as h*ll but some of the brothers are interesting (or at least have the potential to be if they were better developed..unlike the heroine).
Homeland (2011)
Excellent final season
Full of tension, emotion, and complexity. Also writing this in Sept 2021-insane realism, if you know what I mean.
Really loved this series from beginning to end. The first season totally hooked me. The final season is insanely satisfying and is the perfect way to close the curtains on this excellent show.
Nisekoi (2014)
Terrible 2nd season
First season was light, fun, and had decent character development and plot progression.
Second season was fun but full of unnecessary filler episodes that should not have been part of a regular season. They needed at least another 20-something-episode season to wrap things up after the season two they gave us.
But oh yes-the best part-no season 3 and no resolution. Fun.
Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)
Too effective
Perfect depiction of highly stressful circumstances means this is a highly stressful and heavy watch.
But wow.
Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)
Good technically but not very interesting
Great soundtrack, score, and acting, and I really liked the tone of the movie. Especially liked the opening scene. But the movie lacks overall depth, which is a shame since there were moments that reveal it was definitely capable of insight. I think the writing was just missing something.
It isn't exactly an entertaining film--perhaps a bit boring at times because it isn't exactly plot-driven--but it was a nice "experience", if you will.
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Made great actors look like amateurs
I'm not judging the special effects by today's standards...no, my rating is a reflection of how horrendous the writing, editing, depiction of character development, and action sequences are. No thrill, and worse, zero emotional impact. Even the experienced actors in this film-actors we KNOW can act well like Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman-gave shaky performances because of the material they were given. How Anakin became Darth Vader is one of the most interesting things about the Star Wars mythology, so what an absolute waste it is that his story was depicted so badly. George Lucas may be a great visionary, but a director and screenwriter...especially after seeing this film...I don't see it.
The music was good.
