The Office (2005)
The Office, the greatest cartoon ever.
Every time I read that someone criticizes Michael Scott's actions (played by Steve Carell, Golden Globe Winner 2006) reminds me how television has the power to blur people's limits between fiction and reality. You can't blame a made-up goofy boss for its actions or dumbness. It's just that. In this website or other fan sites from The Office, I find comments like "How can Michael quit his job in this bad economy times?"... Hey, he doesn't think, he is a character! I enjoy The Office very much. The witty script writing plus the great improv talent in every artist makes this TV show a hit in comedy. You would hardly bump into some of these people in real life. Can you imagine working next to Dwight Schrute or Angela Martin? This is a taped cartoon, the greatest ever... and we all enjoy it as it is, while it lasts.
La famiglia (1987)
Wonderful Italian movie.
A great movie by master of Italian cinema, Ettore Scola, the director of C'eravamo tanti amati, La cena and Le Bal. This film is a wonderful insight view of the ups and downs of a middle class family, how everybody grows, makes his own family, the good and the bad moments, crisis and celebrations. Vittorio Gassmann delights with his portrait of Carlo, a Literature professor whose life is rather plain but fulfilled with the stories of everybody else in his house, his family. Also Fanny Ardant and Stephania Sandrelli do a great job as two sisters who fall in love with the same man, and try to live with that pain inside, putting family respect before anything else.
Amazon Women on the Moon (1987)
Amazing Film on the TV!
This is, so far, the most entertaining film I've ever seen. YOu can't get bored because gags pop up on your screen at any moment. And the only storyline that goes along the whole movie (the B-film Amazon Women on the Moon inside the film) is as hilarious as the rest of the stories.
Don't miss the opportunity to watch this movie if it's on your local cable or local video store. You'll be surprised to see the bunch of actors casted here, from Arsenio Hall to Joe Pantoliano, Rosanna Arquette to Michelle Pfeiffer... As the opening credits say: "Lots of actors", instead of everybody's name.
Sure this is a movie for SNL fans. Who's your favorite SNL star you would like to work in this movie? Will Ferrel, I guess...
Grab your popcorn, don't get choke on the laughs... Enjoy!
