P.S. I Love You (2007)
worst I have seen for a long time
A real good book turned into a really bad movie. I have no words for the badness of this film. Swank is only giving a big horse smile, Butler is so pathetic showing his affection. It is just sooo bad, it made me cringe. I only endured it to the end as I hoped this whole thing would at least have a good ending. But no - even that is non-committal and empty. Good Lord - what a waste of time and money. One of the rare films that leaves me embarrassed watching.
What were they thinking when producing this lot? The story is incoherent, plain, boring. The tears are false, the affection over-enthusiastic.
Arabela (1980)
The best TV series ever
This is such a warm, wonderful and lovely series. The screenplay, actors and the location are just perfect. This serial connects the "real world" with the world of the well-known fairy tales. A land ruled by a fairy king who rules over Little Red Riding Head, Cinderella, the Sleeping Beauty and many more. The king who has two daughters, vain Xenia and sweet Arabela. Everything is perfect until one day an actor (Mr. Mejer) is asked to read fairy tales on TV. He finds a secret bell and by ringing it, he orders Rumburak, a 2nd grade sorcerer. At first Mr Mejer refuses any wish - in the end he wants to learn how to shoot, as he always makes an idiot of himself at the fairgrounds. So Rumburak takes him to the fairy world (with the help of a big coat) and there, the unfortunate Mr Mejer accidentally shoots the Little Red Riding Head's talking wolf. Of course the king is very enraged about this, as it disturbs the fairy tales. From then on, everything starts. Different persons are beamed into the "other world" by the help of a magic ring. So when some of the fairy characters end up in the real world, they have a real Crocodile Dundee feeling. Marvelling at watches, collecting plastic bags, etc. A wonderful series.
Mr. & Mrs. Bridge (1990)
most useless and boring film I ever saw
You sit and wait, sit and wait, and after 2,5 hours when the movie is over, you wonder why you sat and waited. An absolute useless movie. A woman being treated like a slave all her life, being misunderstood even by her own children. The greatest moment in her life is when her hubby gives her a handpainted picture in Paris (a replica). Wow! No thread leading thru this movie, no plot, no climax, no hope.
You would not expect good actors like Newman/Woodward in such a shallow movie. Even as a 30 min - sitcom, this movie would drive me nuts.
The only reason why I did not switch off or fall asleep was the hope to detect at least one second of a sense, at least in the last minute.
BUT: there was none.
