The Last Duel (2021)
So many Shills
Soooo Tedious! What a terrible movie. The first and last ten minutes were not so bad. The middle two hours were just in the way. Ben Afleck was horribly miscast.
Copshop (2021)
I want my money back!
Just one ridiculous thing after another. I can't remember when I last saw such a stupid movie.
Reminiscence (2021)
Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk, Talk
So much talking in this movie. How Boring! For some reason the Director felt that everything had to be explained to the audience over and over again. At no point, at any time, in the entire movie did I care one bit about any of the characters, or what was happening. The action scenes were beyond ridiculous. By the midpoint of the movie virtually everyone in the small audience of the theater that I went to was browsing their phones. The one thing that I will remember from this movie will be to never go to see another movie directed by Lisa Joy.
Settlers (2021)
Tension throughout
Almost always I see such slanted reviews for most of the movies here. Typically you see many 10s and just as many 1s. This movie is different. I see a lot of 1s, and I understand that. If you don't have much patience and are looking for a lot of action this movie would not satisfy you. However, there is so much tension in every scene of this movie that you could cut it with a knife. It's easy to identify with each of the characters, but it seems like the only way for each to survive is at the expense of the others.
I wouldn't give this movie a 10 but it is a quality effort and I really enjoyed it.
Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
Painful
First movie that I have since at the theatre in over a year and I wish that I had stayed home. Nothing in this movie is the least bit plausible and I often found myself routing for the bad guys. Way too many closeups of a heavily made up 45 year old woman pretending to be a firefighter. I can't think of one single reason to go see this movie.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Entertaining if you don't take it too seriously
Sometimes its hard to figure out IMBD. A lot of shill reviewers that give terrible movies 10s and some, as in this case that give entertaining movies 1s. This movie doesn't take itself too seriously, so why are so many reviewers? My wife and I enjoyed this to kick off the weekend. Sure, there were some terrible, improbable moments, but this is not a serious movie. Come on, any movie that employs a little person as the villain should not be held to the same standards as the Godfather. Watch this, laugh a little.
The Little Things (2021)
Typical Denzel
Maybe worth watching if you like Denzel but the movie has a lot of baggage. Very, very slow and Malek is totally miscast. It's impossible to believe that he is actually a police detective and you can't help but think that he should've actually been cast as the killer.
Perfect Commando (2020)
Completely Unbelievable
Whoever wrote this has obviously never met anyone from California. The Russian interrogators are a joke. Everything about this is completely unbelievable and makes the show completely unwatchable. Its only redeeming quality is Katherine Hughes who is a very hot girl next door type.
The Flight Attendant (2020)
Fun if Flawed
We are really enjoying this series so far despite the woke messaging and rampant stereotypes throughout. The many laugh out loud moments really make this entertaining.
The Planters (2019)
Interesting, but ultimately not worth the time
I get it, this low budget, not even B movie can't really be compared to something you might pay money to go see. It is so quirky that's it's almost interesting but it ultimately falls short and is just a waste of time.
Jayde Adams: Serious Black Jumper (2020)
Not the least bit funny
Their is absolutely no rational basis for giving this show a 10 as two out of the 3 reviewers have. Don't be naive. Don't waste your time.
The 2nd (2020)
Amazing how slanted IMBD's ratings are.
This is a Terrible movie. Just look at the almost 200 customer reviews and almost all of them are 1's and 2's. Yet, this movie has a 5 star rating. Very obviously a large percentage the over 2,000 people that rated this movie are intentionally pumping up the rating for monetary reasons.
Just almost impossible to get an accurate star rating on IMBD. You have to read the customer reviews and immediately discount the 10s that are given out to horrible movies like this.
The Rising Hawk (2019)
Definitely a B grade movie, but a LOT of sword fights!
You would probably want your money back if you paid to see this in a theatre but if you're bored and sitting at home just craving an action movie with a lot of swordfights this might be your cup of tea.
Riviera (2017)
A nightime Soap Opera ala Dynasty
We watched all 3 seasons within a couple of weeks. The locations on the French Riviera are amazing and beautiful. Julia Stiles is okay but the writing is terrible. So much of what happens is completely unbelievable, especially that Stiles character constantly goes head to head with corrupt police, gangsters, and politicians, but rarely suffers any personal consequences because she is so "tuff".
The series goes downhill each season with season 3 being terrible. By the end I felt that even the writers were tired of the show and were doing their best to sabotage it.
1 Night in San Diego (2020)
Completely Unwatchable
Extremely poor writing and acting. I would be very, very, surprised if this ever actually played in a theater. Seems more like a community college film class project.
I see several 10s here. People who are very obviously related to the movie.
Beirut (2018)
My 22 son fell asleep
I read the reviews here before I went to see the movie and it seems like most of the older reviews were negative and the more recent ones were more positive. I was misled by the more favorable reviews into somehow thinking that this was an exciting and on the edge of your seat drama. It was not.
As others have mentioned. The pacing of the first two thirds of the movie is ponderous. Sure, a backstory is necessary, but this was absurd. Also, other reviewers have mentioned the handheld photography and and I'm not knowledgeable regarding that sort of thing but it was definitely noticeable that the photography was inferior, and it was distracting, and made it harder to get immersed in the movie.
The pace of the last half hour was much faster and perhaps saved the movie for anyone that was still awake.
I initially got my wife to go by telling her this was going sorta be like "Homeland". What a lie. Any episode of Homeland, over its entire 7 seasons, is much more exciting, and made much better than this movie.
I did think that Rosamund Pike was outstanding, and that Jon Hamm gave a good performance, but the movie overall was disappointing, and I had to apologize to the family for my poor choice.
Champions (2018)
Unwatchable
I could not make it through more that ten minutes of this. I can only conclude that people that gave this higher ratings are somehow connected to the show.
Extremely over the top. Acting and dialogue are terrible.
Interview with a Hitman (2012)
Throughly unsatisfying
I'm not going to pretend to be an accomplished reviewer and didn't see this at a film festival or participate with in a Q & A with the director about lighting effects. What I did do was waste my time watching this movie. It does have a lot of hand to hand combat, and many scenes where the cold blooded hit-man wastes a variety of characters, (which I did like), but a major, (very, very, implausible), plot twist left me with with very negative feelings about the film, and I would not recommend it to others.
I just felt like the makers of this movie tried to be a little bit, well make that way, too cute, with the plot, and it left me feeling betrayed and abused.
