Mesterjátszma (2023)
Unexpected ending, heartbreaking masterpiece
I've watched the movie as part of Cinelibri 2024 and it was one of the best for this year's selection.
The interweaving of the life stories of the participants is done very subtly and consistently. The film holds your attention from start to finish and when you realize what is happening it literally grabs you by the throat. Great acting, a movie buff's delight.
A great psychological thriller that reveals to you how predictable human nature is, how easily manipulated people are and how insatiable the human thirst for freedom is. The ending is a masterpiece, i love how unpredictable it is - it left me speechless and crying.
Le fil (2024)
Great movie
I've watched the movie as part of Cinelibri 2024 and it was one of the best for this year's selection.
The movie is great because the whole time you are convinced that you are watching another criminal case that reinforces the belief of the injustice of the judicial system, the pressure on the jury and the prejudice in the people...but how wrong it will turn out to be. As a lawyer, from the very beginning I was convinced of innocence and discrediting the case... at some point I decided that the father was covering up the two children for the murder and therefore did not want them to testify, but the end of the film is a masterpiece, it makes you think about your own beliefs and perceptions, and how much you don't know even those closest to you and their motives.
La bête (2023)
Prolonged and tedious
I've watched the movie as part of Cinelibri 2024 and it was definitely one of the worst - a few people fell a sleep at the cinema, including some of my friends. Very slow with long, dull conversations which didn't add anything to the main story. Great idea with a very bad performance - there are many times that you could not understand what is happening...but there is a pigeon, so you know the main actress will die again. The idea of AI was also corrupted and inconsistent. I've watched it till the end only because of Lea Seudoux and Guslagie Malanda - both very pretty, with great presence and performance.
Chernobyl (2019)
Hopeless...you can change the machinery but you can't change the people.
Amazing series with great accuracy about the events. I was seven months old when the rains came to Bulgaria. My grandmother often told me that everything about the Chernobyl accident was hidden from the people for a very long time. She knew something was wrong because when she brought me for a check-up to the pediatrician, the doctor told her that we should stay at home...no parks, no gardens, no walks. And this is in the end of April beginning of May when it is sunny and kids should be out. West Europe knew a few hours later, we knew years later...And even years later, it was told to us that it wasn't a big accident and it contaminated only Chernobyl. There's something they showed in the series, but I think only the post communistic countries understand - on May 1st when the rain hit most of the countries, people didn't have the choice to stay home. If you aren't at the celebration, you will be told to the authorities by these persons who were eavesdropping /very well shown in the series/ and you can be held as traitor to the communist party...so all of us were out. The sad thing is that even in the 90's we were lied and in school we've studied that the rain never came to Bulgaria...the awful truth is that in Bulgaria there is an increase in the cases of cancer and thyroid diseases /almost every woman I know over 35/. It was hard to watch the movie because we were the victims. It gave me a sense of hopelessness because I realized that the beaurocraty didn't change a bit and the country is still managed the same way by incompetent people.
The series is masterpiece!
The Harbinger (2022)
Very good!
The movie is much different than any other it the horror genre. I expected another dull movie with exploited theme, but i really enjoyed it. The acting was great. The two main characters are trapped in their dreams, sometimes for days in a row. There are a few plot twists and in some moments you can't even understand if they're in a dream or in the reality. I was very scared till the end. I see that some viewers find the covid theme very annoying but I don't think it was the main theme and it added only a bit to the main story. The end was also unexpected and very well done. I hope they'll make a sequel. I definitely recommend it.
