CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Sweet Jane (2007)
Nice Cameos...
I don't think this is a plot spoiler, but Sandy Martin, the Dental office manager, was also in the early 1st season episode, 'I-15 Murders" as a truck driver...funny, she tells Willows and Keppler that Dr. Dave (Ned Beatty) was out to lunch, and it was 1:15 by her watch, cute. Also, Tom ('Thanks for the ride, lady' hitchhiker in Creepshow 2) Wright, who as Jake Daniels was in the car taking pictures as Nick was asking him q's, was in an early season 2 episode, 'Overload', with Wright as Robert Harris, foreman at a construction site, and Sheriff Mobley's best man at his wedding. I love cameos! Also, give Mike Keppler a break, he is NO Grissom, but even Will Petersen needs a vacation. I think 4 episodes were plenty enough for Grissom to rest1
Recorded Live (1975)
HBO Short Takes
***Spoiler*** Lol. These were the days of HBO. Recorded Live will soon be mine (thank you Tremors 4). I even had a roll of reel tape that my dad had (possibly porno) that I had that ate me as a child, lol. HBO Short Takes were great, especially the Canadian Film Board cartoons. I remember the Log Rider as one, that song just sticks in my head. There were stories about the aforementioned 'The Chalice' and there was one about a blonde chick going into a dark house, maybe 'The House'. God I miss being a child again. I lost both parents before my 21st birthday, now I am 34, and when I see old shows or remember these great shows, I feel that 'old familiar pain'. HBO was the best channel of all time back in the late 70's and early 80's. In this era of everything being on DVD, I hope HBO opens their vaults and releases a set of these great old, dated classics. I would be one of the first in line for it.

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
Wonderful Sci-Fi Story For All Ages...
I have to give it to Mr. Robert Wise, his name says it all. The Day The Earth Stood Still is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. For those who have yet to see it (Shame on you), I will not give any information, only that this was excellent storytelling. Mr. Wise also directed The Haunting and Audrey Rose, as well as West Side Story and The Sound Of Music, so diversity should be his middle name. I was overcome with certain emotions when I saw this movie again and I remembered just how great it was. I think Plan 9 From Outer Space was written similarly, but even Mr. Turkey himself, Mr Edward Wood, couldn't do what Mr. Wise did. Kudos to Mr Robert Wise, one of my new favorite directors. And thank you Sir, for bringing us some very classy storytelling and fulfilling the Science Fiction genre with great roots to grow with for the future.
Happy Hell Night (1991)
Interesting horror movie...
First off, let me say.....thank you to Anchor Bay, you guys are releasing the movies we can no longer find on VHS, so for that, my thanks. Now, Happy Hell
Night is very typical for the cheese we know and love from the eighties. It concerns a series of murders that happened in a fraternity by a satanic killer, Zachary Malius, played by the ever creepy Charles Cragin. The story then pushes twenty-five years later in the same fraternity house, and the pledges have to, as a hazing, go to the asylum where Malius was confined to, and take a few pics of the killer. As these movies go, Malius escapes and the killings begin. Nothing new as far as the murders go, but an interesting pick-axe to the skull on a very young pre CSI Jorga Fox. From there, it takes a retired detective (Darren McGavin), a priest and two brothers and the girl they fight over to put Malius back in his confines. The acting is typical for the time and very dated, but enjoyable nonetheless. If you can find it, rent it, buy it, whatever, but this movie is highly recommended to those who love the B movies of the eighties and early nineties. A good movie for Friday nights with popcorn and pizza.
The Wicker Man (1973)
Great '70's Shocker...
Well, first off I just want to say that this film did surprise me when I first watched it, but when I watched it a second time, then a third, then a fourth, I realize how well the screenplay was written. I would love to read the novel, but haven't been able to find it. This movie is completely filled with pagan rituals and a lot of sexual innuendo, which it makes this movie all the better. I have to tell ya, Britt Ekland has a wonderful 'siren song', or nude dance, and it was very stimulating, even though a body double was placed during the full body shots. I wonder
why, Britt was gorgeous! The movie has a wonderful cast, and contrary to what everyone says, I loved all of the music, including the ancient chanting, which was great. This came out the same year as 'The Exorcist' and wow! I was born in 1973 and I feel a certain connection to both of these films, sounds funny, huh? If anyone wishes to buy 'The Wicker Man', get the Wooden Box version, it contains both the theatrical and extended versions, which the latter is much more
complete and more provocative, which helps the film. Enjoy, and eat lots of
apples, maybe you will hear Britt in the next room calling for you!
Neon Maniacs (1986)
Personifies the 80's horror genre....
Funny line: Steven says 'I'm not going to let anything happen to you, I just met you' and Natalies' reply was 'I know you won't, that's why I like you'. Typical 80's cheese, that is why I loved this movie! Neon Maniacs has everything you need
in a cheesy horror movie; teenagers, super cool bad guys, and really cheesy
music. Personally, I loved the two Rick Bowles songs in the high school dance scene, 'Baby Lied' and ' The Choice You Made'. These two songs were
PERFECT 80's songs. I also loved the IDEA for the movie, but as the 80's were, the execution was flawed to the hilt. *SPOILER ALERT* One plot oversight was
toward the ending, where Steven, Natalie and Paula went to the police, telling them that the maniacs had slaughtered their classmates at the dance and they
went back under the Golden Gate Bridge where they dwell, so they go and find
nothing... but at the dance, Steven and Paula killed most of them with the water hose. Also, if you were the only survivor after all of your friends were butchered, would you go swimming late at night when you knew the killers were still on the loose? Overall, I would give this movie a *** out of ****, just for originality! I would definately recommend this movie to anyone who loves horror like I do!
Recently released on DVD, do yourself a favor, either rent this or buy it, you won't be sorry. Peace out and enjoy!
The Evil Dead (1981)
the best of the best in horror
There are not enough words in the English language to summarize this complete experience in grueling terror. The Evil Dead is the example of perfect execution in low budget entertainment. I saw Evil Dead II first, and I have to say that you CANNOT duplicate perfection! THE EVIL DEAD is, without a doubt, my favorite MOVIE of all time, with HALLOWEEN coming in at a close second. For ANYONE who loves movies, or is interested in getting into films, please watch this masterpiece from one of the premiere and vercatile directors of our time, Sam Raimi. Mr. Raimi has impressed me with everything he has been involved in, including INTRUDER(GREAT CHEESY SUPERMARKET HORROR), and A SIMPLE PLAN! I will be looking forward to seeing Sam, and his best friends Rob(RIP)Tapert and the enigmatic Bruce(ASH)Campbell in the soon to be produced EVIL DEAD IV. THIS CAN ONLY GET BETTER!!!!!!!!! STAY TUNED FOR MORE CANADIAN DEMONS...... STAR RATING:*****/10 OUT OF 10!

Halloween (1978)
the second greatest horror movie of all time!
HALLOWEEN is the second greatest horror movie of all time, only knocked out by THE EVIL DEAD! I read the novel, and reading that put Michael Myers in perspective. Back in Anglo-Saxon times, there was a moderately deformed/retarded villager who everyone revered as an obvious outcast. He was in love with one of the women in the village. She took advantage of his weakness, and accused him of assault. Some of the other villagers decided to punish him, so they dismembered him. Tragic story, but this is where Mike comes in. The murdered man's spirit became tormented and tortured, and wandered limbo searching for vengeance. Now, thousands of years later, this Celtic spirit decides to take complete control of young six year old Michael. Suddenly, Michael knifes his sister Judith and a movie legend is born. If only the other seven sequels could have cashed in on this prelude! Maybe HALLOWEEN 9 could be a prequel, since we are all prequel happy in the films at this time.
