Never Give Up (2022)
Unexpectedly Interesting Series
One cannot tell by the generic title that this is an entertaining, inspiring, warmhearted series about the hero's love for fellow humans, friends and family. It is also about perseverance, forgiveness and redemption. For me, it is an engrossing series to binge watch. I like Yoon Doo Joon from the "Let's Eat" series and he does a good job here too. He is a fine actor. I am not familiar with the main lead, Kwak Do Won but I am now a fan as he portrays very well a character who while experiencing adversity in life is still filled with exuberance. There is also a teen romance with all its angst. The other casts members were equally wonderful!
Di-eo Ma-i Peu-ren-jeu (2016)
Very Delightful Series
This series exceeded my expectation. Great screenplay and great performances by the entire cast.
Ukssi Namjeonggi (2016)
Entertaining Workplace Series On Netflix
The first episode was over the top but I am glad I continued watching. I find the series to be in general very well done in portraying the struggles of employees in their workplace and their love and support for each other which helped them maintain their pride and dignity and rise above challenges.
60 Il, Jijeongsaengjonja (2019)

Sa-rang-ha-neun eun-dong-ah (2015)
Beautiful Love Story
I found this series on Netflix and it is re titled "This Is My Love". I enjoyed the 16 episodes a lot. The male lead, Ju Jin Mo, is a great actor who is able to convey his emotions very well. The scenes portraying the hero and heroines in their youth and as young adults were wonderful too.
Lang ya bang (2015)
Epic Drama - Sherlock Holmes Would love it
The whole series is a journey of understanding for me. The overall story arc is revealed in bits and pieces. Imagine a huge garden in spring. Once the flowers start to bloom, one begins to see a pattern and the viewer starts to think that "Ah-ha, that is what the picture looks like." As more flowers bloom, more patterns are revealed which congregate to create an even bigger pattern. Each episode is like a single flower blooming. The main character is faced with a seemingly impossible task and he is comparable to the legendary Kong MIng of the Three Kingdoms era. Each step, each solution is logical without any "contrived" situations that insult my intelligence.
I've watched the whole series twice through and through and more when it comes to certain "emotional," "triumphant," "ah-ha" segments. Clues are littered everywhere for the audience to catch and these become obvious on the second run through. I highly recommend it to everyone who likes an insightful experience. This is not for "heavy Kung Fu" action movie afficionados although there are some action scenes sprinkled throughout the series.
Dalrae Doen, Jang-guk: Yisimnyeonmanui Jaehoe (2014)
Very Entertaining TV Series
I like very much the actress who plays the young Jang Guk and the actress who plays the adult Jang Guk now called Dal Rae. I also like very much both the actors who play the role of young and adult Yu Joon Su. At first, the transition in time, 12 years later, was a little jarring. After watching for a few minutes, I adjusted to the change and find myself very involved in the lives of the hero and heroine.
La tribu (2018)
Very funny
I enjoyed the movie a lot, some parts were laughed out loud.
Tiempos de guerra (2017)
Entertaining War Drama
This series is from the creators of Grand Hotel, Velvet and Cable Girls. The creator and her team know how to produce dramas with story lines and characters that really draw the viewers into their world.
La casa de papel (2017)
Overated
A way to pass time while exercising. The first few episodes drew me in but I find the characters unlikable as the story progresses.
Edha (2018)
Better than expected
It was slow at first but it became interesting by the third episode.
Au plus près du paradis (2002)
A Film for Fans of Catherine Deneuve
Warning this review may contain spoilers! I think that the best way to approach this film is to see it as a French film about the mid life journey of a beautiful French woman. The film is billed as a romantic film but I do not think it is romantic although it is about romance. The presence of American actor William Hurt may mislead the viewer to think that it is a traditional romantic movie but it is written and directed by Tonie Marshall who is half American but was born and raised in France. The journey of Fanette, at this point in her life starts when she met an old acquaintance and is reminded of Phillipe, an old love that she has not totally forgotten. Also, it so happens that the movie "An Affair to Remember" is showing in her local cinema. This movie also brought up old memories for Fanette. The hope to rekindle an old romance brought Fanette to New York where she met William's Hurt character, Anyway, if you love Catherine Deneuve like I do, you will enjoy the movie. She is still very lovely and did a great job here.
Hôtel des Amériques (1981)
Interesting Film About Human Relations.
This review contains spoilers ! Helene is sad and distant because she has not recovered from the demise of her architect boyfriend. One night, she met Gilles, an aimless guy who is a part time tourist guide, living in his mother's hotel. Helene is attracted to Gilles but she cannot open up to him yet. The attraction is mutual. However, Gilles seems frustrated that Helene is not ready to fully commit to him. If only he were more patient, one can see that Helene is slowly opening up. She changed her hairstyle and there is more color to her face. She even took Gilles to her real house, not just her rented apartment. Despite their feelings for each other, Helene's personal baggage and Gilles lack of maturity threaten their relationship. Gilles friend, Benard, is no help. He is a loser who tries his best to make Gilles feel guilty. One wonders if Helene is attracted to Gilles partly because she is looking for someone who needs her. Gilles is like a boy who has not grown up emotionally and has not taken on the responsibilities of an adult. For example, Gilles younger sister has the full time job of helping their mom run their hotel. I think this film is about the complexities of human relationships and how lack of maturity and communication can lead to despair and depression.
Le choc (1982)
Escapist Movie
This review may contain spoilers. I am a fan of Catherine Deneuve and Alain Delon. That said, it was a lot of fun to see two lovely stars together. I was not expecting much. Thus, I was surprised to find some plot twist. I think that it is believable for Alain Delon's character to fall in love with Catherine Deneuve. After all, she is one of the most beautiful women in the world. I think this movie should not be over analyzed. Just sit back, relax and enjoy it. It is mildly suspenseful and romantic and fun. I wish there were more movies of Catherine Deneuve and Alain Delon together. Although Catherine Deneuve is still active making movies, I think Alain Delon has retired.
Ma saison préférée (1993)
Highly Recommend This Movie
This movie is timeless, a classic. It is very poignant, well written and well acted! Catherine Deneuve shines in this movie. It is nice that her real life daughter is also in it. Daniel Auteuil is very convincing as the brother obsessed with his sister. Marthe Villalinga, who I think plays the mother is amazing too. One can tell that she favors her son than her daughter. Her character is realistic, a mother who loves her kids but is also difficult to get along with and complains a lot. Although a dysfunctional family, one can see that mother, daughter and son love each other very much. I think this is Andre Techine best movie.
