Khud-Daar (1982)
Amitabh's one of Big Hits in 1980s
1980s were a good period for Bachchan when most of his films did well, in 1982 he had 6 releases amongst which 3 did well
Khuddhar was a film Amitabh did as a favour apparently for Mehmood's brother and strangely his own brother Mehmood charged him his market price.
The film is a emotional film with a good story(written by Kader Khan) with some coincidences and cinematic liberties also
Yet the film is a good watchable fare
The film is quite long but keeps you entertained
There are flaws like in the climax Prem Chopra having a gun in the court and several other coincidences
Direction by Ravi Tandon is good with a few flaws
Music by Rajesh Roshan was a huge hit, all songs sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata
Many songs became a huge hit
Amitabh is brilliant as Chotu Ustad and goes through all the shades of the character well
Parveen Babi in perhaps her last successful film with Amitabh is good in her role
Vinod Mehra is good in his role which has grey shades
Prem Chopra is as usual as the villain
Sanjeev Kumar is good in his short role
Tanuja doesn't get much scope but does ok
Mehmood is wasted
Bindiya Goswami is also good in her role
AK Hangal is also delightful.
Overall the film is watchable and one of Amitabh's hits in 1980s.
Ghayal (1990)
Sunny Deol's comeback
In late 80s, Sunny was going through a tough phase and called a non actor
Ghayal was a turning point in his career
The film had a simple plot but was handled brilliantly by newcomer Rajkumar Santos hi
The film starts off well though it follows the formula ridden stuff for a while but gets back to track when Sunny starts searching his brother
The film post that catches your attention and there is no forced comedy, songs and all after that except one item song.
Direction is superb
music is decent
Sunny gives a great performance, from this film he started shouting but yet he has an edge in his act and even won awards
Meenakshi gets less to do but is good
Amrish Puri is awesome in a negative role
Om Puri, Khulbushan Kharbanda, Mousami Chaterjee and all do a good job. Raj Babbar leaves a mark.
Bhikari (2017)
Marathi film South style
This film is a remake of A Tamil film Pichaikkaran
The film remains faithful to the original and also includes the larger then life action scenes.
The film yet has good emotional quotient and keeps you entertained also though the forced romantic and comic scenes stretch the film.
Direction is Good but due to the South style the impact gets reduced
Swapnil Joshi is amazing and carries the film on his shoulders, Sayaji Shinde is amazing too
While the rest all do a good job.
The film may seem a bit unbelievable at times and also at times tends to get too filmy but still should be watched once.
Bhookamp (1993)
Death Wish 4
A year before Mohra, came a film Bhookamp which also copied Death Wish 4 1987... Both films have identical storylines however this film is far more formulaic with more drama but yet the twists do catch you unaware..
Direction is decent
Music is okay
Jeetendra looks old but does his part well, Rahul Roy is his usual self doesn't impress much, Mohan Joshi made a great debut, Navin Nischol is superb, Mamta Kulkarni doesn't get much to do
Rest are okay.
Satyameva Jayate 2 (2021)
Tin Tigda Kaam Bhigda....One of worst films in recent times
Satyamev Jayate was a surprise hit 3 years ago though it had a done to death plot however this film is terrible making that film a masterpiece.
Every scene looks like an 80s film
The triple role wasn't required actually and looks gimmicky.
The film has several overdone scenes which lack logic especially the climax
Direction is awful
music is ok
John plays all 3 roles in his same style and does well but is getting repetitive also he is made to shout his lungs at times which gets annoying...
Divya Khosla Kumar is nothing great.
Harsh Chaya is okay, Gautami plays the stereotypical mother played by late Nirupa Roy in 70s and 80s and Aruna Irani in 90s and she is okay
Rest are okay.
Kurukshetra (2013)
Awesome film with great performances
The film is really brilliant and has a good story and direction.
The film doesn't waste it's time and focuses on the main plot. The plot is identifable and also relevant in today's scenario.
Direction is just superb
Performances are superb
Shweta Salve is brilliant in the main role, while Mahesh Manjerekar is just brilliant as well, rest all do their parts well.
Radhe (2021)
The Outlaws with Salman Khan style
Prabhu Devaa who directed Wanted 2009 which was a remake of Telugu film Pokiri, for its sequel he remakes The Outlaws Korean film which was far better.
The film adds all things that most Salman Khan films have like a forced romantic track, comedy and over the top stunts and result it's a mess
Direction is ok in parts but sucks overall
Music is ok, Zoom Zoom is best song, Dil De Diya is amazing, Seeth Maar is ok but Allu Arjuns version was far better and its placement could be better
Salman Khan does his part well though he has done such roles many times and it's time he changes his style
Disha Patani is for ornamental value
Jackie Shroff annoys in his role
Randeep Hooda excels while Sudhanshu Pandey has 2 scenes, Pravin Tarde leaves a mark
Siddharth Jadhav is wasted.
Coolie No.1 (2020)
A bad remake of a remake
Coolie No.1 1995 was a remake of Tamil film Chinna Mapillai however the film was yet worth watching also Govinda and Kader Khan's comic track however this film is totally pathetic...It tries hard to make you laugh
Only plus point is it's technically rich perhaps
The film gets to the nerves
Direction by DD is bad
Music is bad
Varun Dhawan is terrible in this film, trying hard to make people laugh and his mimicry is horrible
Sara is mechanical ditto for Paresh Rawal who annoys while Rajpal also irritates rest are all ok
Aag Se Khelenge (1989)
Typical 80s
In 80s several films were made which had 2 or 3 heroes would unite to revenge the villain.
Aag Se Khelenge starred Jeetendra and Anil after Sone Pe Suhaaga 1988, this film too was signed by Anil before Tezaab and later he acted truant and didn't wanna play second fiddle to Jeetendra who was aged then and going downhill in his career.
The film stars Jeetendra as a cop who is after Amrish Puri and Shakti Kapoor while Anil Kapoor plays the second hero whose family was killed by Amrish Puri.
Direction is nothing great, the director died while the film was in making and the film was completed by Subhash Ghai
music is okay
Jeetendra is his usual self however looks aged while Anil also is good in his role
Kimi Katkar and Meenaxi fulfill their heroines requirements
Amrish Puri and Shakti Kapoor are as usual
Anjane Mein (1978)
One of forgettable films of Rishi and Neetu
Rishi and Neetu were part of several films in 70s but not all were successful. This film starts in a train which meets with accident and Satyen Kapoo and his wife Nirupa Roy lose their son who is taken by an Elephant to a circus, the first half is quite amusing in the circus, slowly the film shifts into a typical 70s actionner with Ranjeet kidnapping Rishi and then he looses his memory and all twists and turns
the film could've been much better had it been kept on one track and also lesser comic scenes
Direction is decent
Music is decent
Rishi Kapoor does his part well, Neetu also is good in her part
ranjeet is as usual, Nirupa Roy is her usual crying self, Satyen Kapoo is okay
sudhir is as usual, Achala Sachdev leaves a mark.
Jai Vikraanta (1995)
One of last dacoit films
In 70s and 80s Dacoit films were made in abundance but post 90s such films lost value and slowly filmmakers stopped making films on this theme.
The film is the last film of Sultan Ahmed who made several films on this topic
the film is nothing new but a typical vendetta fare which failed badly.
Direction is good in parts but due to done to death theme it fails
music is okay
Sanjay Dutt does a good job though his voice is dubbed by Chetan Shashital which doesn't sound like him , as this film was released in his jail term.Zeba Bhaktiar is okay in her part, this was her last film
Shahbaaz Khan is great, Amrish Puri, Ranjeet,Reema Lagoo all do well in supporting roles rest are okay
Gangster (1994)
Horrible
Can't understand people like this film? Totally horrible and overdone
No wonder the film was rejected totally by Indian audiences
the film could've worked in 70s but by 90s Dev Anand had already passed his prime and kept directed and acting in his own films which were horrible and badly made.
Direction is awful
music is awful
Dev Anand repeats himself but looks too aged
Ajit is good in one of his last negative roles
the hero is awful, Mamta Kulkarni is nothing great rest all are awful
Thappad (2020)
Film required for India
I can understand Bhakts are taking revenge on Taapsee for visiting JNU and trying to malign the film which is stupid.
the film is well handled and has several scenes which are true to life
Plus also a strong message
The film tries to change the misconception of Society
Direction is awesome
Taapsee is just brilliant in her role
All the rest do their parts well
be it Ram Kapoor, Tanvi Azmi.etc
Kasam Vardi Kee (1989)
Typical 80s stuff
In 80s there were several films on such subjects
The film is a typical action film of 1980s
With patriotism, romance and everything tacked in
The film was one of first films of Chunky Pandey and it worked.
Direction by Shibu Mitra is good but there is nothing new in the film
music is nothing great
Jeetendra is good in his role though he looked too aged
chunky pandey was raw but does an okay job
Farah and Bhanupriya are okay
Anupam Kher is good as the villain while Kiran Kumar, Tej Sapru and others are adequate.
Ghar Ki Izzat (1994)
Yet another Social Drama by Kalapaturu
In 80s there was an influx of social drama films like Ghar Ghar Ki Kahaani, Gharana, Ghar Ho To Aisa.etc
Ghar Ki Izzat is yet another film which was delayed for many years and released in 1994 and was a flop.
The film has the same done to death story of a joint family which is ruined by Anita Raj who marries Jeetendra and creates problems
Direction is nothing great
Music is okay
Kader Khan excels in his role which he has done many times, Asha Parekh is good
Rishi Kapoor does his part well but looks too old for a student
Juhi Chawla is okay
Jeetendra also looks too old for a student and is as usual
Anita Raj is good
Gulshan Grover is as usual
This was last film of Om Prakash and he is as usual
Dhill (2001)
Dum was a copy of Dhill
Some reviewer has said that the film is a remake of Dum while Dum released in 2003 and this in 2001.
The film is a great film to watch and Vikrams acting is any day better then Vivek Oberoi while Atul Kulkarni does a good job in Ashish Vidyarthi's role.
Kash... Aap Hamare Hote (2003)
Movie stuck in 60s
The film was known because of it being debut of Juhi Babbar
The film however is stuck in 60s and was a flop.
The first half is still ok with twists and turns though we have seen such before. But the second half gets boring with cliches and predictable scenes
Climax also seems rushed.
Direction is ordinary
Music is okay
Sonu Nigam in his second half is lousy, in drunken scenes he is terrible and otherwise also tends to ham and imitate Dev Anand
Juhi Babbar is excellent in her debut sadly her career didnt go much further
Raj Babbar is great, Om Puri is excellent
Sharad Kapoor is good in his part rest are okay
Mera Haque (1986)
Remake of Saawan Badhon
This film released when Sanju was tryin hard to make a comeback in Hindi films after his drug addiction.
The film is a copy of Saawan Badhon 1970
Copy pasted
The film was later remade as Chuppa Rustam 2001.
The film is quite interesting if you havent seen the original but follows cliches and the director fails to add anything new.
Direction is okay
Music is alright
Sanjay dutt is decent in his role though he was raw those days
Anita Raj is okay
Gulshan Grover, Bindu and others are okay.

Rangeela Raja (2019)
Horrible
There was a time Govinda's films were superhits and Pahlaj Nihalini could get audiences to theatres but now times have changed.
The film in short is an assault to the senses and ruined by bad direction and loud acting
The film looks out of place in today's times
The film is a remake of Rajnikant's Netrikant
but looks stupid and out of place in today's times
Direction is bad
Music is bad
Govinda in both roles is too loud and gets to the nerves especially in the role of womaniser
The heroines are awful
Shakti Kapoor is loud
Govind Namdeo gets no scope
Rest are all okay
Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001)
Minnale Copy Paste but quite watchable
RHTDM as it's affectionately called was a remake of Tamil film Minnale(2001) which also starred Madhavan alongwith Reema Sen Govind Menon remakes the same film with a few changes. The film starts off well, with Maddy and Saif fight and then Maddy falling for Dia, though the south style may not work for all at times Yet the scenes between Dia and Maddy are superbly handled The twist in the tale is well handled too with Saif making a comeback The going ons do get predictable in second half but the climax is well handled
Direction is good Music is mostly recreated yet Zara Zara became a rage
Madhavan tends to overdo a bit and reminds u of Shahrukh Khan but yet he plays Maddy superbly of course he has played it before in Minnale but he lends freshness to the role though he was overweight Dia is also cute in her role though weak in her emotional scenes and dialogue delivery Their chemistry is amazing Saif Ali Khan is superb in his role, this was his first role after Dil Chahta Hai and he is good Vrajesh Hirjee is funny as Maddy's friend, Anupam Kher is lovable though typecast rest are okay
Ajay (1996)
Nothing Great
In the year 1996, Sunny and Karisma worked in 2 films Jeet and Ajay and after that never worked again. This was also the last film of Suneel Darshan with Sunny Deol The film has a done to death story, nothing new about it It is basically a love story between a poor guy Sunny and a rich girl Karisma who detests him first and later falls in love her evil uncles played by Suresh Oberoi and Kiran Kumar are the villains.
Direction is nothing great as story is quite outdated Music is decent but the chamak challo dance number is hilarious for bad choreography
Sunny Deol does his usual stuff nothing new, Karisma doesn't get anything much to do and she is as usual Suresh Oberoi,Kiran Kumar leave a mark Farida Jalal is as usual, Sharat Saxena is good in his role.
Jurm (1990)
An amazing film of Bhatt and Khanna though inspired
Mahesh Bhatt has remade several Hollywood films into Hindi, Jurm is a remake of Someone to watch over me(1987). The film has a decent story and it's well handled though it's copied with several changes in script to suit Indian audiences. The film keeps you involved though a bit lengthy at times
Direction by Mahesh Bhatt is good Music by Rajesh Roshan is decent though 2 songs Jab Koi Baat and Marne Ke Darr se were copied from English songs 500 miles and La Bonita
Vinod Khanna though looking aged does a good job in his role, this was his last film with Bhatts due to his differences with Mukesh Bhatt who was his secretary then. Meenaxi does a good job too while Shafi Inamdar is good Om Shivpuri is good, Anang Desai,Mahesh Anand are good as well rest are okay
Fan (2016)
Well Done Srk
Srk's quality of films in recent past has gone downhill, right from Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Chennai Express, Happy New Year to recent Dilwale all being nothing great. FAN which was launched before Dilwale is a film with a difference In this film Srk has a double role but unlike Duplicate and other of his double role films, here the double role looks different, first of all kudos to the VFX team and the make up team. The film starts with Srk playing Gaurav a fan of Srk who eats, breathes and lives Srk oops Aaryan Khanna. He gets an award and goes to Mumbai to meet Srk and gift him for his birthday but of course something unexpected happens. Gaurav starts hating Aaryan and becomes a revenge seeker. The first half is good though it takes it's own time at times it looks very realistic, Gaurav's ambitions are identifiable, the twist too is well handled though one wonders why Aryan behaves so rudely with his fan but still at times stars do tend to get rude The second half does tend to get filmy and unrealistic at times, like the 2 long chase scenes but yet there are some good scenes too like the entire track when Gaurav goes to Aryan's house and also the pre-climax and the climax are well handled
Direction by Maneesh Sharma is good There are no songs shown in the film which is a good thing Background music is good
Srk plays both the roles superbly, as Aaryan he plays himself again after Om Shanti Om and Billu, but he surprises as Gaurav the entire mannerisms, dialogue delivery and all is simply superb he makes you believe that he is the character which is a pluspoint -8/10 Waluscha Dsouza does a good job in her small role while Shriya Pilgaonkar is good, rest are all okay
Raampur Ka Lakshman (1972)
One of Manmohan Desai's early hits
Manmohan Desai started his career doing serious films but slowly ventured into masala films. This film released in 1972 fresh after the success of Sacha Jhutha(1970) which is also mentioned in the film. The film stars Randhir Kapoor in the lead role, and Rekha alongwith Shatrughan Sinha. The story is of long lost brothers, who separate in the initial reels after a catastrophe. Perhaps this was one of the earlier films to show a family that gets lost, which became a trademark of MDK films later like Amar Akbar Anthony, Suhaag, Mard.etc In the film Randhir plays a simpleton who goes to Mumbai to search his friend whose father helped his father when the separation happened. Randhir saves Rekha(In MDK's NASEEB he had a similar scene) from getting raped by thugs, soon they befriend each other Shatrughan Sinha plays a negative role, he is a leader of a gang who put Randhir's friend in trouble, he is the brother of Laxman who was taken away by a thief to make him like him. The film also has a get up formula wherein Randhir dresses as Louis Dsouza from Goa!!! All formulas which became a trademark of MDK.
Direction is good Music by RD Burman was fab, Ghum Hai Kisi Ke became famous, other songs too are good, mostly sung by Kishore Kumar
Randhir Kapoor does a good job, looking suitably goofy for the role, though he couldn't make it really as big as Rishi Kapoor or other Kapoors yet he left a mark especially in this film. There is a scene where he dresses up like his father Raj Kapoor and there is a tribute to him. Rekha who looks different compared to today does a good job Shatrughan Sinha is terrific in a negative role, something he started his career with. The rest are all good in their roles.
