Black Panther (2018)
Watched maybe 15 minutes
As a stand alone movie is did not pull me in and make me want to watch it. I have since learned that the movie was part of a much bigger story and mart of some Marvel universe. But without that backstory if quickly became just a mess for me and my wife. I had recorded it from our movie channel and I had no second thoughts about giving another chance some other day and just deleted it.
Magnum P.I. (2018)
Enjoy it for what it is
Back in the 1980 through 1988 period I really didn't watch much TV and one of the things I didn't watch was the original Magnum P.I.. Maybe I caught an episode or two, I can't really remember. So when this show with the same name started I was blissfully unaware of the differences in characters and plot. For me, that turns out to be a good thing as it allows me to watch this show for the entertainment value I get from it. And I do enjoy it: the characters and the development through the first season and a half, the gorgeous scenery and camera work, and the stories that the writers have developed. So while others are trashing it because it doesn't meet their expectations, I had no preconceived notions and have enjoyed every single episode except the single one that I missed when my PVR wasn't working.
Reach for Me (2008)
Small cast with a big punch
This movie wasn't shot with a big budget and Brangelina type cast members. The story line is direct, simple and easy to follow. The cast members made it believable and memorable. Like Dickens showing us the way with his character, Scrooge, this story reminds us that it's never too late open our hearts to the world around us, and mends our ways.
Unrelated to the story: I was a Tekkie for years through various incarnations of the show. Who knew that Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) could direct such an honest, sincere film? Maybe being in front of the camera has its benefits as it seemed the cast was allowed in interpret the script and give genuine performances.
