The Wrong Guy (1997)
Very funny film
Yes this film looks like it will be yet another terrible "dumb and dumber" type film but it really is rather well scripted and ...well down right funny. I am a huge Kids In The Hall fan but we got to see a few episodes of their series over here in the UK and that was it, i bought Brain Candy whilst in New York and and managed to tape a few of the KITH shows when they aired briefly over here in the mid 90's. I have searched for The Wrong Guy but it isn't available over here (like anything KITH related) but the BBC happned to show The Wrong Guy a couple of days ago and i laughed from the start to the end. It is s very simple idea for a film but it is made up of great little comedy moments that keep you laughing, even as a KITH fan i didn't expect it to be as funny as it was. Dave Foley really showed how great he can be as a writer and actor and how a simple idea can turn into something rather special, and that is what this film is SPECIAL. Watch this film if you get the chance and ..... start showing the KITH in the UK again or at least make the series available over here. 7 out of 10 Rotten Addict
The Calling (2000)
Erm ... anyone remember The Omen?
I can normally talk about stuff until even i am bored but this film was so dire that i want to talk about it to warn others to not waste their time with it yet i still don't want to waste anymore of my life on this waste of time film.
Laura Harris is a pretty good actress and always seems wasted in most of her roles, she could be doing something so much more worth while. She's very pretty and always seems to be very good in her roles but even she seems like she can't be bothered to try too hard in this film. Even the "male" in me didn't kick in during the film, it was more like "well she is very, very attractive but this film sucks too much to even keep watching for the good looking actress".
I mean the kid kills all of his pets and the mother (Harris) doesn't really see this as a sign of anything even slightly wrong at all, its like "well i did that at his age, so boys will be boys".
I advise anyone who enjoys a film like this to just watch The Omen or Rosemarys Baby instead, believe me you'll thank me later.
At best i'd give this this film 4/10

Tommy Boy (1995)
Chris Farley at his best
What can you say about Tommy Boy, well its without a doubt stupid, over the top, and not a film with any real message to make you think about life in general. But its also a very, very funny film and most likely my favorite Chris Farley film (Black Sheep coming a close second).
I should point out that i am English so i haven't seen any Saturday Night Live shows and only know Farley and Spade from their films and Spades stand up comedy. I think that if you want a film to watch that kills an hour and a half and keeps you laughing from start to finish then this is for you.
It does have moments of slushy "i love you" in it but they are very few and far between and the slapstick comedy is well worth the wait. The story line is very basic, Farley must sell his late fathers brake pads to keep his business alive. But its the amount of situations that both Farley and Spade encounter along the way that make the film so funny and watchable.
I can't say enough about this film to really sell it to anyone but it simply is a very, very funny film and ironicly if it has a message to leave the viewer with its how sad the loss of Farley is and how much great comedy was lost once he died.

Almost Heroes (1998)
An ignored classic
I live in the UK so i have not seen any Saturday Night Live shows but i know and love the films of Chris Farley. If you want to pass an hour and a half and have a few laughs then watch any of his wonderful films (ok i admit that Beverly Hills Ninja sucked). This film seems to have been forgotten about, its like it was never made. I have read a lot of degrading reviews about this film yet its a very funny and enjoyable film.
Chris was in fine form when he made this film and Matthew Perry is fantastic also. Perhaps if David Spade had played Perrys role it might have been remembered but alas its a lost classic. Basicly its a very funny film and a must for any Farley fan, and i hope that the IMDB has made this movie of the day by now.
So i advise anyone to watch Almost Heroes and then tell their friends about it as it deserves so much more respect than it has ever received.

28 Days Later (2002)
The Days Are Numbered
28 days later is a film that you will either love or hate, its too British, grainy and bleak to be just "ok". I myself love this film, it is well scripted, edited and the casting is genius. There are moments in the film that leave you breathless and feeling uncomfortable. Its more than a mere zombie flesh eating flick, its (dare i say it it) something special. The weird camera angles should remind you of watching the old Batman baddies in their hideouts but they add to the movie, as does the (so dark you might miss it) black humour. 28 Days Later is a great film and to date i have seen it twice and both times people were jumping and squirming about in there seats, laughing and saying "ewwwwwwww" during the "fingers in the eyes" scene near the end of the film. Watch it, watch it now.

Shallow Grave (1994)
Would you take the money?
I saw shallow grave at the cinema one bored evening, my friend's and i knew nothing about the film or who was in it. By the time we left the cinema we all knew we had seen something special. This is exactly how i like film's to be, tense, thrilling and it keep's you on the edge of your seat. I loved the way that the police are so ....... english in their hunt for the truth in what happened to Hugo and the way that we don't know anything about him, It let's us imagine as if we were one of the flatmate's. I adore this film and prefer it to "Trainspotting" as i do "Resovoir Dog's" to "pulp "fiction", it's gritty, grainy, bleak and has some outstanding performance's. The only thing i don't like about this film is the fact that it never received the acclaim it so rightly deserved.
