The Penguin (2024)
Finally!
I can't stand the whole "let's make our villain sympathetic" play that most shows/ movies do. This was a great character development of a ruthless, narcissistic, psychotic villain. By the end you realize he is insane. Brought a huge modern take on a very popular Batman nemesis. Let's face it, as the modern world has evolved, Penguin seemed like niche character of absurd villains. This series brought him back to be a contender to Batman. Also shows how he was able to get so many to follow him. Colin Ferrell killed it in his performance and I can't wait to see what he does in the future. Not shrugging off the other cast and characters. They were mesmerizing as well.
Salem's Lot (2024)
Really well done.
Not sure why it is given such negative reviews for the story. The story is what we been waiting for. Retelling it in a modern era is always a plus in my opinion. Really liked it. All the characters were really well done and the actors made you believe those characters. I think a lot of people assumed it was a modern telling. The setting is of the books timeframe. I just got an amazing UHD tv and it looks amazing. The director really played the shadows and colors well. I'm hoping to see more of this series be made. I recommend watching the original first. That way it will give you some perspective and get to know the characters first.
The Beekeeper (2024)
All good but one redundant character
I loved the movie, the concept and the action was spot on. However one pain on my tush was the character of FBI agent Verona Parker. I have never had a character that seemed so out of place and annoying. Every time she showed up it, her character got worse and worse until that crappy sign off at the end. Her character arc was non existent. Statham killed at as usual. He actually wasn't playing himself for a change. Seemed more solemn and driven than most he plays. The concept of the beekeeper should be explored more. I can imagine the stories that could come from this. I do recommend watching.
Gojira -1.0 (2023)
This is what a Godzilla is supposed to be
From the opening to the ending, I was enthralled by the whole movie. It kept everything that I loved about Godzilla, and was able to make an extremely interesting backstory with the human characters. There was a lot of things that was addressed in this movie that I had never seen before.there was so many things that people will pick apart, but that's upon reflection. I had no criticisms or a reason to dislike this movie the whole time I watched it. So, in that respect, I will give it a perfect score. And I don't go slinging those out just every review. As a Godzilla fan, this was perfection to me.
Zoom (2006)
It's just fun
You know, it bothers me when people can't take a movie for what it is. Clearly and I mean very clearly, this movie was created for kids and to be fun. Did it accomplish that goal? Of course it did cause I've been better? Of course but I think no one wants to just watch and enjoy something nowadays they want to be blown out of the water or watch something that has such profound emotional movement for that person. Just watch and have fun. It is the classic formula for sure. When I ask my younger kids, what they thought of it, they absolutely thought it was a fun movie to watch, and that means more to me than what some adult says.
Night Court (2023)
About Time.
There is a lot of shows that are revived and it kills me when they try to take this real world take on them. It's refreshing to see you show that just wants to capture some of the magic of the original. We all are bombarded these days with reality reality, reality, being harsh and wrong and the worlds falling to crap. It is nice to see a show that just people doing their best with their job and want to make a small difference. No it's not like the original and thankfully so. I think shows that try to remake something exactly as it was fail because their only grab is nostalgia. This is smart and fun and that's rare these days. If you are looking to be blown away or find meaning in every thing you watch, you may find this lacking. But if you just want to watch something fun and forget about your worries, I suggest you watch and give it a chance.
Velma (2023)
Why change the formula
There are things that work. No matter the time or space they exist in, they are enjoyable. Then you have someone come along to try and take away what made that formula work, because they think different is better. And it fails. Either make something completely different and new or honor the original concept. This was not fun at all. It seemed hokie. I wasn't expecting genius show but I wasn't looking to be dumb downed either. I always suggest that others should watch and see for themselves but I honestly think you should avoid this and not waste your time. There is talent in the voices the actors take on their characters.
Nope (2022)
Had me from the Get Go
The concept and originality was worth the watch itlself. The mood kept me wondering what was going to happen next. It is something amazing when you are horrified by the reactions and mood that's created rather than the shock and awe spectacle most movies throw at you. I am not only going to watch it again, I'm inviting friends over to experience it with them. I think the impatience of people is what has them saying it is slow in some places. If it grabs your attention, you realize it's just a lull to sets up that moment that grabs you. I regret not catching it in the cinema. If you are looking for a good movie, you chose correctly. .
Grimcutty (2022)
Give it a chance.
Halfway through the movie I really did want to turn it off because it sounded like the usual "adults are stupid and don't listen" crap but I am not one to give a full review until I seen it all. I'm glad I did. It came off way better than I expected and it had a message for adults and kids alike. So if you havent given it's full attention and seen every bit of it, I suggest you do. The actings was good and the creature had this look that was creepy. I also enjoy the fact they didn't go into over explanation mode on things. I think it can ruin a movie when they try it make up some elaborate plot devices.
The Promise (2016)
Hits home.
You know when a movie hits a nerve, is when they try cancel it for its contents. I was entranced from beginning to end. I cried not only for the great struggle the Armenian people went through, but the fact it is still not recognized by the Turkish government. Oscar Isaac is brilliant as we are passengers on his characters journey. The love story keeps you from being too overwhelmed by the atrocities being committed. It was really a great period piece, story and something we must never forget. I hope you will look over the negative and positive reviews and watch it for yourself. Judge for yourselfs.
Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (2016)
How is this still going on?!
It's horrible. Horrible. Complete fodder and nothing relevant. Who keeps this crap going? They cancel so many great things but THIS is still being created?! I know some people need reassurance and confirmation their life's aren't useless but how much patting on the back do you need? I swear to you I waited a bit to watch and give it another try ....AND IT WAS THE SAME CRAP AS BEFORE! I mean come on! Ever want your time back from being wasted? This is it. Go to the bathroom and have a good bowel movement. It will create a better relief and feeling of joy than this. If I could give it lower than 1 I would.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Fun Movie
Not sure what people expect anymore. This was a fun movie that opened establishing clear motives for the protagonist and frankly I loved every minute of it. I went in expecting just a fun action movie and it came off with so much more.
Naked and Afraid XL: You Left Us to Rot (2022)
Well that trash made it
The worthless chunk of trash did 40 days but barely. I have always rooted for all survivalist to make it but after the ungrateful pathetic nature of Trish, I wanted her to fail. I know. Horrible of me. She's made it on the back of others. Well at least I can watch the show, rooting again for the others to make it.
Old Henry (2021)
This is how it's done
I was not expected anything but something to watch in the background. I was hooked 5 minutes in. My admiration for Tim Blake Nelson and how he did this character can not be expressed in words. Worth your time.
Alone (2015)
Interesting.
I really like the show and the different personalities can range from encouraging to preachy to kooky. It's actually quite interesting the way each chooses to build their shelters and what is priority.
The Pentaverate (2022)
The payoff is worth it
It started slow but then it got really good and campy. Then the social commentary on current society was what sold me. Going to watch again. The humor seemed juvenile until you start laughing and realize you should just enjoy it.
Bite the Bullet (1975)
One of the most underrated westerns
In my opinion this is probably the most underrated western ever made. It was one of my favorites (still is) And I can watch it over and over again and still find it mesmerizing. The speech that Gene Hackman character does about San Juan hill is worthy of a Oscar in itself. It is a plot that has so many twists and turns and learning moments for so many characters. And considering that it was made in 1975, they were ahead of they game on strong women, addressing racism and cruelty to animals.
Star Trek: Picard: Watcher (2022)
Oh yay, we get preached at
If you love to be spoon fed liberal paranoia, this one's for you. I mean all that was missing was some derogatory red necks. Hopefully this will be the chunk of it and it will get back to the story from the last three episodes.
Dateline: Secrets Uncovered (2017)
Jumps to conclusions
There is WAY more heresay, jumping to conclusions and too much circular reasoning for me. In one episode the man was found innocent. And evidence showed why. He was even in the show. However they made it out through the whole episode that basically he got off and had committed it. Terrible to do to someone. Today people go with their heart and their emotions than evidence.
Tha God's Honest Truth with Charlamagne Tha God (2021)
Drivel
Clap clap clap. Another snide, unintelligent, narcissistic, lapdog show. Unremarkable and recycled cliches. Only people who watch this are those who need to hear their own pathetic notions relayed back to them, so they can clap themselves on the back and say, " I AM SOMEBODY!"
Good Trouble (2019)
What a load of junk.
Typical, contrived and pathetically in your face. That's been nice because the stories are clunky and plot you can see coming miles and miles away.
Doom Patrol (2019)
Just Brilliant
I never thought in my life as a comic geek that a show so ridiculous, so insanely off reality, could be so touching and profound. I hope this show continues for years.
Sweetheart (2019)
Unexpected Gem
Story was compelling and I was so pleased they didn't use crap cgi. Good acting and solid story with some unexpected undertones. Highly recommend
The Daily Show (1996)
What happened?
It has become a joke of a comedy news show. How pathetic will it get before they stop pandering the the lowest base of fans. Used to love this show.
30 Miles from Nowhere (2018)
Lousy Ending.
The ending tried to shock you but there's no way it would of went down that way. Was decent until the last 5 minutes.
