Rain Man (1988)
An overrated very slow movie.
The first time I watched this movie I was expecting a very beautiful movie with a great message. And this movie does have a message, but it could hurry up in showing it. The movie takes waaaay to long to actually start to get "interesting". Even though I didn't felt interested in the entirety of the film. Actually I couldn't finish the first time of boring it was. Know I get why people like this movie and say it's a great movie but honestly I think it's not one of the best movies of all time. In my opinion the movie is actually, pretty predictable. I could see miles away that the other brother some kind of great hidden gift the Tom cruise character would find out great and then they end up getting along. It's the cliché underdog story. So excuse me but I think this movie is not that good.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
A funny and emotional goodbye
When I went to watch this movie I already knew this would be probably the saddest one of the trilogy. And it was but it also more. It was one of the funniest ones too and it gave a great character development to ever member of the team. This movie wasn't just a movie based on Rocket, it also talked about star lord, mantis, groot and the other characters. Giving a beautiful goodbye to this excellent trilogy with alot of happy and sad moments but what mattered to me the most how they made the movie sad. What I mean with this is that the movie is sad but not in the way people think. That's all I have to say about that. Overall :a great final movie, it feels a bit overcrowded sometimes but not too much, and definitely a movie with a great soundtrack.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
Hey
Wow. It's been a while since we had a movie with such a innovative style of animation. Not the just the mix with comic book style is great but the movement to and the flow of the movements is great. And not just that, the story is also very good and can give actual sad moments, not like those scenes where a character dies or another thing that is meant to be sad happens but we don't really feel bad. The humor is really great and actually funny, without fart jokes or other childish type of comedy. And it's an awesome love letter to all the spider man fans with tons of references and Easter eggs to movies, shows, comics etc. This is definitely one of the best animated super heroe movies of all time and I highly recommend to both adults and children.
Whiplash (2014)
Were you rushing or were you dragging?
What a masterpiece of a movie. It has an incredible soundtrack with original songs that I actually listen during my everyday routine. This movie also represents perfectly how hard a musician life is. Miles teller does a great performance but J. K Simons performance is the definition of perfection. The writing is already but the way Simons says is lines, the way he talks and acts just makes it even better. He totally deserved the Oscar. The movie tension is also very well developed and you can actually feel the pressure of the main character while he does everything to be the best, and with everything I REALLY mean EVERYTHING. Definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen.
The Prestige (2006)
Are you looking closely?
I was watching TV until I got to a channel where they were advertising that they were going to play this movie and after watching the cast, I got interest and decided to watch it. Even though it's a Nolan movie and it had actors like Christian bale and Michael in the cast the story looked pretty simple and this would just be a fun movie to watch. I was so wrong. This movies plot is way more dense that what the trailers and promotions show. The acting is perfect and the writing and direction are as good. The way the plot twists fit perfectly on the story and the fact they actually relation the story to the time where it happens is brilliant. It's a movie that we do not see that often and a definite must watch.
The Departed (2006)
A movie that makes you want to watch non stop
This is definitely Martin Scorcese at it's finest. Something I must warn about is that this is not an "action movie" even though there are fight scenes and deaths it's not like a Jason Statham movie with the main character kicking everyone and easily beating his enemys, plus the action isn't the main focus. The main focus is the cat and mouse chase between the police informer and the mob informer, with many scenes that make you think that they will finally find the truth but end up failing. This movie is also full of twists and surprises that don't feel forced or random and actually make the story better. The acting is amazing but it was to expect because of the casting. And the direction, the soundtrack, everything is perfect in this movie. Truly one of the best movies of all time.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
What's the problem, lives flashing before your eyes?
This movie was way better than what I was expecting. The first one was a fun movie with a good animation but nothing special. But this film, it's completely different. This film has a great animation style that was obviously based on spiderman into the spider verse using 3D and 2D at the same time. A very good voice acting and an even better character development. Even though it's a kids movie, it can be serious and dark sometimes and for a kids movie it has a very well written story. And the vilains of this movie are great, specially the "bounty hunter". Overall one of dream works finest works of art since a long time and I highly recommend.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Great movie for the fans, but nothing really special
If you're a long time fan of the super mario saga than this movie is for you. It has tons of references to the original games and alot of moments that bring back good memories. But if you aren't really a fan a and just want to see a fun movie, you might still have a good time. The comedy is good the voice acting also (except for Mario) and an great animation and with the masterpiece peaches as a song. But if you want to see a masterpiece or more artistic movie, than I would consider that you should go watch another movie. The story it's pretty basic it feels the same steps as other animated movies and even though there is some character development it isn't really anything special. Overall great for the fans and a great family movie, but not really an Oscar level movie.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
One of the best r-rated movies out there
No country for old men isn't for everyone. It's a very violent movie and when I say this, I really mean it. The violence on this movie is really rare to find nowadays. And I wouldn't really called it an action movie, because there is more killing than actual fights. Now this is just a taste of what you will see on this film. Know if I had to pick the best part of this movie it has to be the acting, especially from the actor that plays Anton. There is an real studie where a psychiatrist went through all the movies with psychopaths to see which one is the best interpretation of a psycho. And guess who was it? Anton. Which is funny since the actor is a known pacifist and even thought on refusing the role, but thankfully he didn't. The story is also great and the direction makes the tension really high and the movie makes you can't stop watching it until the end. Talking about the end, that's unfortunately where this movie fails. I know that alot of people defend it has a deeper meaning behind but, honestly I still think they could have made a more conclusive ending and not try to make it so abstract. At the end of the day one of the best movies ever but unfortunately not perfect.
Star vs. the Forces of Evil (2012)
Could've been better if it wasn't for the last season.
So the first three seasons of Star VS the forces of evil are pretty good. The story keeps evolving and getting mature every episode and the character development was also great. There were some episodes that were really dark and gave some horror vibes that really fit well. And the comedy was also really good and the were also pretty good. But then the last season came out and ruined everything. Is it just me or does it looks like they had no idea who to put as the final villain and just chose the most random choice of all, plus they made fanservice in such a bad way, like they just made two characters fall in love because yes. And they decided to end with a bunch, and I really mean a bunch, of cliffhangers even though they officially said they won't continue the show, not even with a spin off. It could have been one of the best disney shows if it wasn't for that last season.
Amphibia (2019)
Surprisingly one of the best recent disney shows
This show was surprisingly good. I was expecting a basic story of a girl that gets trapped in a different dimension and then she spends the rest of the show living great adventures with her new friends and then in the end they would have a sad goodbye and then the show was over. I was wrong. The show is way deeper than that and can sometimes actually be really dark and have some serious episodes that also talk about more serious topics. The character development it's great, no one stays the same way as they started, they all evolve into either a better or worse version of themselves. The jokes are also really good and the animation is also really good. Overall a great show that truly surprised me.
Morbius (2022)
It's morbin' time
I really thought that the time of cheesy and cringe superheroe movies had ended. But guess what? Just because that time was over it doesn't mean those movies are. And Morbius is the perfect example of it. The story of this movie is so predictable and bad written. Even though the main character and the main villain are played by great actors they have an awful development and all of the other actors don't even know how to make their jobs right! And I can't be the only one who didn't understand what was happening during the fight scene with all that CGI smoke. And the dancing scene, oh dear. And just to make this movie even worse they made the MCU vulture into this universe even though it's a completely different universe and he asked morbius to join him into the sinister six. For what ? Nobody knows ! And going back to talk about CGI, how does multimillionaire company like Sony pays so bad there special effects workers to have such an awful special effects? Resuming they made every possible thing that could go wrong in a movie and then gave it the name Morbius. And I just love how Sony that the memes about the movie were actually people saying they loved the film even though every critic site and the box office said the exact opposite and decided to relaunch it. But on the other hand, if you like fun bad movies, like me, this is the perfect movie for you and that's the only reason it's not a 1/10 movie.
A Bronx Tale (1993)
Is it better to be loved or feared?
This is more than just a gangster movie. It's a movie about life. About who to trust, who to hear, about never judging a book by it's cover, about why racism is bad. And the acting is great, with very well built characters and great dialogues. A very intriguing story that makes you want to watch the movie until the right end of it. The direction is also really well done with great camera angles. And it has one of the best questions of all movie history "is it better to be loved or feared?". On one hand if people fear you they will basically do whatever you say and nit mess with you but you will really never have somebody that truly cares about you. And on the other people care about you but that doesn't mean they will always do as you wish and it can be sometimes be harder to be loved than to be feared . Overall a great movie with alot of great life lessons.
The Godfather (1972)
It's not personal Sonny, it's strictly business
When I went to watch this movie the first thing I thought was "Everyone talks so well about this movie so it's either going to be really good movie or an okay movie that is highly overrated.". Both of the options were wrong. This is not an overrated film and it isn't just a really good movie, it's a almost perfect movie. The only default of this movie is a scene where a character is beating the other up and it's very clear that the punches aren't landing. But it's such a minor default compared to everything other thing that this movie does perfectly, plus at time it was really hard filming those type of scenes without looking like they aren't actually landing punches. The acting, the script, the direction everything on this movie is perfect. And I don't get why people complain about it being long since the movie is so well done that you don't even feel the time passing. Perfect movie to to bottom, I highly recommend.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023)
A fun adventure with great visuals
So this movie is pretty much what the trailer shows to you and a bit more but the story itself is predictable and there is some characters that more development than others, and the main villain, that red witch that I don't remember the name because how forgettable she is, has I said is nothing special. But on the bright side most of the jokes land well it has a pretty good CGI, a good acting and besides some characters that are underdeveloped, there are others that are very charismatic and have very good development. Another thing that I want to point out that isn't really a spoiler but basically one of the characters that appears in all posters appears very briefly compared to the other characters and the reason why he isn't shown has much has the others is basically none existent. Resuming : a solid movie and a fun watch but it's no masterpiece.
