True Detective: Night Country: Part 6 (2024)
True Detective!? More like Mystic Detective
The beauty of this show was that it was supposed to be true to life detective stories, excellently written and acted. The fourth season is excellently acted but the writing is something you could expect out of a freshman screen writing class.
Plot holes abound in a show that has literally nothing to do with the original True Detective. In the first episode we see a lot of mysterious things happen to the Tsalal station which are not at all explained by the "story" at the end. Instead, the season feels more like an episode of American Horror Story, full of ghosts and jump scares.
The show is fine on it's own if you know ahead of time it has NOTHING in common with the original True Detective. Honestly, it's not worth your time.
Insatiable (2018)
Watched the entire season; it went from bad to worse to horrible
There was once a time when Netflix would announce more Original Content and I would be super excited to see something like Love or Stranger Things. I would intentionally watch the entire season of a show because they didn't always start out awesome (looking at you Girl Boss). However, over the past year Netflix's Original Content has become a trash heap and this show is no exception.
It's difficult to adequately describe how bad this show is. It's bad enough for me to write a review of it, which I truly never do. Imagine if Friday Night Lights was merged with The Jerry Springer Show, was centered around beauty pagents, where the writers were told to avoid any sort of intellectual or emotional depth and to aim for the lowest common denomination of humor AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN REACH THAT GOAL! Imagine Big Bang Theory set in the South attempting a social commentary on LGBTQ and millennial gender norms, where the actors are trying their darndest to alienate any sort of realistic emotion and thereby their audience.
Don't say you weren't warned.
