The Debt Collector (1999)
Wonderfully dark and gritty
A great suspenseful film with a gritty dose of reality , Connoly has tapped into his own dark psyche in order to bring the film home , you build up a love hate relationship with the man (Nicky) who in his later years regrets the life he once lived and wants nothing more than to move on but the ghosts of his past still haunt him in the form of a young wannabe gangster and a resolute detective (Ken Stott) who is hell bent on putting him behind bars where he firmly belongs , Nicky has moved on with his new love who could not be further away from his former life and continues to nurse him psychologically into a " citizen" like most real life characters he feels unable to escape the life with sucks him back into his intended destiny ! Loved this film love Ken Stott and Billy was quite convincing in his role of a psychotic gangster . Gice it a watch.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022)
Addictive to watch
What can I say , don't ever let the truth get in the way of an exaggerated far fetched story, this movie will make you smile , laugh, cry all at the same time , it's a rollercoaster of emotions which will leave you with an overwhelming search for the truth about a real life living legend, Daniel Radcliffe has played this part beautifully as the guy has comedy flowing through his veins and has for sure left his Harry Potter life well and truly behind him . There are a host of celebrities portrayed in the epic biography and I'm sure they will feel privileged to be not just in history but be remember as a part of it all thanks to All Jankovic . Give this film a watch it's a laugh people and it will brighten your darkest day .
Les filles du soleil (2018)
Fantastic film and an inspiration to all
I couldn't stop watching this film and was in total awe of the women who had been so savagely treated by their captors and who stood up when many men wouldn't, they fought like true warriors not segregated by gender but segregated by their desire to fight and win against all odds , these women should serve as a warning to all who would try to enslave and take something which is not theirs to take , the actors involved were 100% believable and played their roles beautifully in what must of been a difficult situation to try to recreate with such a difficult story to tell , I take my hat off to these ladies and the fighters they portray, this film is definitely worth watching , the story is captivating and inspirational for a who.
Emily the Criminal (2022)
Not a bad little film at all
This is a refreshing film and very watchable , Audrey plaza is actually quite good in this , I'm not really up to date on her previous roles but she's very believable in this role , not too sore on the eyes either, the film can be edgy at times and thought provoking also, I had no problem watching it from start to finish as the pace was a constant throughout, I do not know this director however I believe he might be have a long career ahead of him as it was very well shot , I noticed it was an evil hag production which I'm sure Audrey plaza probably owns , it's great when an actor can put in their own money into a project with full confidence, I wonder how many other actors would do the same ? Give it a watch people.
Elvis (2022)
It's a Baz Luhrmann
Not the best biopic ever written but Mr Luhrmann has buffed this movie up to a stunningly beautiful piece of cinematography, it's glossy it's luxurious , overall it's a feast for the eyes , this kid who plays Elvis has pulled off the best re enactment of any stage performance in film history ! Suspicious minds at Las Vegas is absolutely flawless , I was gobsmacked, I have seen the original over a hundred times and I had to keep checking it wasn't the actual live show , congratulations , well worth a watch guys.
The Northman (2022)
Disappointed
After watching the trailers I had settled in and built a log fire and poured myself a large whisky , unfortunately the film had way to much symbolism for me to enjoy as i did not understand the film completely and it may of went over my head ! I'm sure scandanvians will find it educational but it's a no from me folks.
Father Stu (2022)
Great little film
Just watched father Stu and was captivated by the humour that Mark Wahlberg brings to this role , Mel Gibson who has a very dark role played the character beautifully, Jackie Weaver as usual plays a solid part , this woman will be employed for a very long time . Go watch this gem of a film ,
