M3GAN (2022)
Actually Goods
My rating for this movie kept fluctuating as I watched. There were moments I was thinking 'God, this is just lazy writing', because the characters were doing some stupid stuff just to move the plot along. The acting was okay except for the actress who plays Cady. They could've found a better one. I felt like they could've given more clarity to how Cole(the assistant of the tech company boss) got Megan to want to kill his boss. That was pretty vague.
So why am I giving this a ten despite all the negatives? Because this move felt refreshingly different. I know it has some of the same elements as Child's Play, and I know some people have said that they didn't really feel the horror in this one, but strangely enough, I did.. It's been such a long time since a horror movie gave me any creeps so I wasn't expecting much, but this movie surprised me. It had a perfect combination of creepy music and tensed silence that had me at the edge of my seat. For that, I think it deserves a ten.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)
An Underwhelming Experience
What can I say? The action and CGI were pretty good, and it was fun, but it dragged in some places until I began not to care much anymore, only to be sucked right back in. They provided quite a believable story about Janet's time in the Quantum realm that I didn't have to suspend disbelief.
Kang was pretty badass, and I can understand how he can evolve into more than a Thanos level threat. I feared for Scott's life more than once, especially with Marvel's penchant for getting rid of earlier avengers nowadays. And Jonathan Majors is an excellent actor.
In all, this was a decent watch, nothing spectacular, but it still had enough to keep me glued until it came to an end. I did find it underwhelming, but considering that I went in more than hyped for it, the fact that I can still think of it as a 7 tells me Marvel did well with this one. I do hope the coming movies are much better though.
Give it a try. It's worth a watch or two.
The Next 365 Days (2022)
Lol
Why are people disappointed? I mean the first and second movie were garbage but there was enough steaminess(which were their only redeeming quality). This one was even more steamy than the second so what's y'alls problems? And don't you dare kid yourself that you watched it for any other reason!
When They See Us (2019)
Heart wrenching
This was heart-wrenching, even more so when you think that this actually happened to real people. Can't believe what these people must've home through. I sympathize the most with Wise because his was just so hardcore messed up. He didn't have to go through this, yet he suffered the most. The actor who played him did a stupefying job at making the emotions so real.
Morbius (2022)
Not as bad
I give this a ten to cancel some negative ratings, not because this was a masterpiece, but because it doesn't such negativity. It wasn't great but it pretty much held its own.
Shiddat (2021)
Jumping and Crying
I'm not Indian and wasn't expecting much when my girlfriend made me go and watch this with her, and I was so pleasantly surprised. This was such a great movie and quite brilliant performances from the cast. I don't know why some are rating this so lowly. They claim it's because the ending was stupid but these same people would have said the movie was bland and predictable had it ended with them together.
Don't mind any of them. This is a great film.
Sex/Life (2021)
Deflated
In the middle of the last episode, I was so ready to come here and give this series a 10 stars rating if only to counter all the bad ratings because I couldn't understand why anyone would rate this so low when in the end she did the right thing. Until the last scene came on and the credits began rolling. Then I was furious out of my mind. What were they trying to teach society and women? It's so ridiculous.
However, I give this 6 stars because it did keep me enticed.
Acrimony (2018)
OMG
I don't care what haters are saying. This is easily one of the best films Tyler Perry has produced. Teraji was just stellar in this role and you could just feel every emotion.
Life in a Year (2020)
Did I watch the same movie?
I was literally forced to watch this movie by my sister. However I found my annoyance fast diminishing. The beginning scenes were very catchy and the story flowed so well. The whole thing got me gripped until the credits started to roll! Then I come on the internet and this is a 6/10 with barely 10 000 reviews? OMG I'm so flabbergasted.
The issue here with some people is that they've had this idea of Jaden being pushed into roles because of nepotism. Otherwise he doesn't know how to act. That's what they tell themselves even as they're watching this masterpiece and so they're never able to appreciate the raw depth of emotion Jaden demonstrates in this romantic drama. The boy can act. Jaden aside, the rest of the cast were stellar. There wasn't a bad actor in this one. I especially loved the leading lady.
Yes, it's cliche, it's predictable, but puh-leese, which of these 'girl/boy is terminally ill' storylines aren't. People actually loved The Fault In Our Stars which really didn't have much to offer. But they can hate on this movie which had such a beautiful blend of everything?
My heart is racing so much because this movie deserved better. Don't listen to the haters!
365 Days: This Day (2022)
So bad that it's good
This movie was so bad that it was good, but come on, that was to be expected. Now I see all these reviews bashing the movie and I have to laugh.
Come on, aren't we all little hypocrites? Like someone said, we all knew the first movie was bad and this had the potential to be a disaster too.
If it had been an action movie or something like that, like we wouldn't come back to it or something.
But no, we still came back knowing very well the sequel could be even worse like has happened to several movies.
We all came back for one reason and the movie did deliver it on that regard so let's just appreciate that, lol.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
7 Stars
My friends were hyping this show so much and I just had to try. The first episode blew my mind and I just had to continue. Throughout most of this I found myself riding so many emotions; excitement, fear, sadness, happiness, and it was so good, until the last episode. I've never watched a series and been so irked by the ending. I guess that just makes me cold because I couldn't understand why he couldn't just let everything go and continue with his life. It just sucked out all the excitement I'd had from the beginning.
7 Stars for being enough to not make me not want to stop watching altogether.
Cinderella (2021)
What are you all talking about?!
People are just pissed off that another remake is being made. If you could just put that aside and focus on this one, you would enjoy it. This was purely a musical comedy. Those saying this wasn't even funny have to go find themselves a sense of humour. I was laughing most of the time and had to rewind during many scenes just to laugh again. The music in here were decent, but not all that memorable. But who cares, it was a very good movie.
I get that people are criticizing Camilla's acting. I mean she's a singer, and this is her first time doing something like this. Her acting wasn't memorable but I believe it was pretty decent. Don't mind the bad reviews. Most of them are from people who already hate Camilla. Just relax and watch this and you'll enjoy it.
La edad de la ira (2022)
Superb.
This was a very good story. Had this been on Netflix, it would've had quite some viewers. I've loved Manu Rios ever since I saw him in Elite so he's the main reason why I watched this show. But the show as a whole was very good, not in the 'i can't stop watching' kind of way. But in the kind you will always come back to finish. I love the story about coming out, about how hate breeds more hate. This was a superb watch that everyone should check out.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
This was a good show.
I don't get all the negative reviews honestly. For me, this was really well made. The actors were great too. The chemistry between Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone is something that was pretty missing between Toby Maguire and his leading lady. Gwen's death was a shocker but it really did set everything up for the sequel. Such a shame it was cancelled.
Gurotesuku (2009)
Truly Grotesque
Whoever wrote this movie must be some sick, sadistic brute. So much blood everywhere. I'm giving this a ten not because I liked the events but simply because this was very well done. The actors did very good and you could feel all that they were feeling. The horror, the fear, the pain. And the excitement (As from the sadist. Dude really did believe the whole 'showing your will to live.'). I'm sure I'm not forgetting this movie anytime soon.
A través de mi ventana (2022)
An awesome watch.
Not surprising to note that most of the negative reviews are from people who are above thirty. Yes, it's predictable, it's cheesy but what do you expect a movie about teens to be like? Teenagers do a lot of the same stupid things. People should just stop taking things so seriously.
Hidden Figures (2016)
Very entertaining true story
Who would have thought that a movie revolving around racial I justices could be so entertaining? I must admit that the portrayal of the racial I justices got frustrating at some point. However the movie never lost its spunk.
This was a great film. 10/10.
Love, Simon (2018)
Took me by surprise
I actually expected a cliche coming out story. But this movie had a dynamic of it's own that made me feel so exhilarated after watching it. Good job to the creator and the actors.
La casa de papel (2017)
Brilliant
I've never regretted it for a moment since I started watching this crazy thriller about thiefs carrying out impossible heists. It's been such a crazy and yet beautiful ride filled with heartbreaks(think Nairobi and Tokyo's death). Alicia was my favourite character since she was introduced. I just loved the way she carried herself.
Season five was my favourite of all the seasons even though the first part was a bit something else. However, the part 2 picked up everything we've loved so far about this series. It had me so much on the edge of my seat that I had to forward scenes because the suspense was too much. Brilliant production.
I'm going to miss this show.
Lucifer (2016)
The devil all the time
What can I say about this series consisting of angels and demons and the devil portrayed in a totally different way than I'm used to?
It's stupid. Comes up with ridiculous plots. I know this is not fully based on the bible but they could've tried to make things a bit realistic. Eve leaving heaven because she feels bored? God retiring?
But in all, it has everything to keep you binging and binging. It's a show that's totally worth watching. I'm gonna miss Lucifer and his beloved detective, but I'll miss Ella the most.
La La Land (2016)
Ugh
Just decided to dive into musicals a while ago and watched The Greatest Showman. Then google suggested La La Land. Looking at the fact that, it was rated better than The Greatest Showman, I decided to give it a try. I thoroughly enjoyed TGS so maybe I went into watching this one with too many expectations, but this one was...merh.
The story was just too plain. I feel like it could've been cut down to one and a half hours and still be okay. Unlike TGS, only one song in this one pulled me in and that was the one Ryan Gosling whistled. Ryan and Emma both are great actors. It just feels that the production didn't give them much to work. It took me two days to finish watching the full movie.
I'm still dazzled that this movie is rated so highly and bagged 6 oscars. The Greatest Showman is far better and has a plot good enough to not make you want to sleep.
