Mr. Iglesias (2019)
Wrong Message Sent to Students
I think the show, as a whole, is funny, refreshing and challenging. It takes a group of students of all differences and shows how they can work together to accomplish something. They are better than someone elses preconceived idea of "losers".
However, they missed a great opportunity to address a very important issue that was brought to light, but glossed over.
The Coach is an alcoholic. He is drinking on the job. THIS IS WRONG and should not have been allowed to continued. It basically tells kids that it's ok - I have a job so I can do what I want to do.
NO. Coach has a problem. He needs help and someone should have spoken up not only on behalf of the kids, but he, himself.
State of Affairs (2014)
Good Show with LOTS of Promise
Having seen the first two episodes, I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying State of Affairs! Katherine Heigl plays a brash, confident, assertive woman who is in a very high stress job with an enormous amount of responsibility - her views go directly to the President of the United States! However, although she briefs PODUS on the daily "State of Affairs" her loyalty remains, first and foremost to the C.I.A. What an ominous weight that puts on her shoulders, particularly considering that the President was almost her Mother-In-Law! I hope this show continues to develop in the fashion it began ... wrapped around "Charlie's" daily life ... it is very promising and the "secrets" she is forced to keep must be overwhelming! I am looking forward to more!
White House Down (2013)
Better Story than Olympus Has Fallen
I have to confess, I enjoyed watching White House Down much more than I would have thought possible as I am not a big fan of action films with a lot of blood and gore. However, I had seen Olympus Has Fallen so figured I would watch this one, too, as I love conspiracy movies. I honestly expected that I would have liked Olympus Has Fallen more than White House Down - after all, it had a top name cast and bigger budget, but when it comes down to the actual story, White House Down wipes the rest of the competition out of the water. White House Down is much more believable - especially in light of the political and financial situation in the world today. Also, the story is carried out with a sense of "style" with some mercenary madness thrown in for good measure! The interjected humor is just priceless!!! I actually found myself laughing out loud several times during the movie. I feel that while Olympus Has Fallen was played out to the max with blood, guts and violence, there was very little "humanity" interjected. However, in White House Down, the story far out-weighed the gratuitous blood and violence. I have seen it five times now, and I still love every minute of it!
Ring of Fire (2012)
Excellent Disaster Movie
This movie is one of the better Disaster movies I have seen lately. Michael Vartan and Ian Tracey are two of my favorite actors and do a superb and believable job in this movie. The science is accurate as is the potential for the E.L.E. referenced. There were good subplots all interwoven into this dramatic series of events and each is well thought out and well written. I have now watched this movie three times trying to find little things I missed ... and I haven't gotten bored with it yet! KUDOS! The eruption scenes, particularly the pyroclastic flow and lava bombs are equivalent in quality and believability as those in both Dante's Peak and Volcano. I am very impressed that a TV movie could carry off this theme with such finesse!
Christmas Lodge (2011)
The BEST Movie I've Seen in a LONG Time!
This is the best movie I have seen in a long time! I love all the actors and I feel they all worked well together! The story is excellent ... the way the families past and present are intertwined in this beautiful setting is what dreams are made of.
I love the fact that the actors spoke of Christ and their faith on an every day basis ... they allowed the Lord to guide their footsteps and that is a difficult challenge in today's fast paced world. The genuine depth of devotion to following the Lord and depending on Him to meet one's needs as He sees fit ... well ... it's such a blessing to me and proves that families that are raised up in a Christian environment will keep those values throughout their lives! Thank you for this wonderful story!
Unforgettable (2011)
AWESOME new show!
I totally love everything about this show ... the concept is fantastic and actually believable! All of the actors are superb, particularly Poppy Montgomery, Michael Gaston and Dylan Walsh! Also, the skepticism shown by team members Kevin Rankin and Daya Vaidya are absolutely perfect!
In a lot of ways, Carrie is the female version of Patrick Jane from The Mentalist. I love the strength and vulnerability displayed by Carrie and Patrick Jane. Jane's wife and child were murdered by Red John and Patrick feels responsible because he taunted Red John on television. With Carrie, the murder of her big sister, Rachel, when they were children, was a traumatic event that is compounded by the fact that Carrie she can't remember specific details of Rachel's murder and it remains unsolved. It haunts Carrie as an adult because it's the ONLY thing in her entire life that she CAN'T remember! Carrie's childhood experiences with cops and shrinks investigating Rachel's murder, make her a better cop as she is more aware of the trauma being experienced by both victims and witnesses alike.
Good writing, good acting and good time slot are all high praise to CBS! I just hope they will give Unforgettable a fair chance to develop a strong following. Having Poppy Montgomery with her Criminal Minds fan base and Michael Gaston with his Mentalist fan base are an added bonus for the show. Having the show follow solid shows like NCIS and NCIS: LA make Unforgettable's ratings almost a guarantee.
Thanks, CBS! Tuesday night totally belongs to you!
