Christmas with the Chosen: The Messengers (2021)
Mostly music
I spent $12 on a movie ticket only to sit through a bunch of poorly performed music and ramblings from some of the actors from the series... for a 30 minute play. I guess Dallas Jenkins got greedy and decided to pull a fast one on his gullible fans. We were promised the Christmas story but instead got junk. Had it just been the episode I would have enjoyed it... didn't need the other crap.
One of Us Is Lying (2021)
Good looking cast terrible plot
First off the cast is a bunch of good looking young actors who just have that going for them. They can't act their way out of a paper bag if their lives depended on it.
The murder plot quickly takes a backseat to the typical teenager angst romance complete with a LGBTQ romance 🙄. It's like they are trying to be an Agatha Christie novel, The Breakfast Club, and GOT all rolled into one but failing miserably at all 3.
Left Behind (2014)
Started out good but crashed quickly
I'm a huge fan of the Left Behind series books and was excited for this movie to come out. I thought this was going to be a revival of the series and perhaps the start of the books being made into movies... but once I watched it I'm glad it didn't.
First off the acting was decent... except Rayford... but more on him later. The characters of Buck and and Chloe were great. Both seemed to be book accurate. Hattie was played by the lovely Nicky Whelan, but was more of a sleezy woman in this movie than she was in the book. Now for Rayford... it's Nicolas Cage playing Nicolas Cage. I really wish they would have gotten a better actor to play him... but I suppose they needed a big name actor to draw in viewers.
Now for the plot: it started out following the book really well until the rapture happened... then it went downhill and off course fast. Something happens to one of the engine that causes the plane to be put in danger and it becomes a race to put the plane down quickly without killing anyone on the plane or on the ground... and Chloe has to race to make a runway on a road and flag the plane down... which NEVER happened in the book. Also half the characters in the book never appear in the movie and they never really discover the truth of what happened.
This big budget movie had so much potential and took off great but couldn't stick the landing.
Forgiven (2016)
Typical b movie made by religious extremists
Let's start out by stating the obvious: it has Kevin Sorbo, so you KNOW it's going to be B movie grade acting, he hasn't acted good since Hercules (and even that was horrible). Plus it's a low budget religious film... so getting decent actors isnt on their list... all they care about is shoving their fairytale garbage down your throat.
As for the message: I'm sure the gullible brainwashed low IQ religious kooks will salivate over it saying "how moving" and "inspirational" it was 🙄. The movie blasts you with religious blather and incoherent rationale that is typical of right wing religious extremist thinking.
Seriously, if you're into the b movie right wing religious extremist movie, or you're just looking to turn your brain off for a bit... then this movie is for you. If you're looking for a riveting, edge of your seat masterpiece then put this back in the $1 bin you picked it out of.
