Book of Love (2022)
No CoStar Chemistry, No Script, No EXIT
I am a huge fan of the RomCom genre, counting myself among the soapiest, love-soaked tears at the end when the leads fall in inevitable and instant love movie watcher that you can stomach. I don't shy away from the serially sad hero(ine) and their manic pixie plucked from the nearest movie, and I can usually find the love in the thinnest of movie premises. This film gave me absolutely NOTHING to work with!! The story is contrived and held together with terrible and barely likable characters played by actors that look like they are making two different films at the same time. I felt so much loathing for the uptight Brit, and rolled my eyes incessantly at the plucky single mom trope mixed carelessly with the "Spicy Latina" stereotype. My only spoiler is that you will want to stop the movie before it is even over and do something productive to counter the time you wasted. I have never actually written a movie review before and had to come and create one because this movie was so awful. Reclaim your time by not wasting a second on this film!
