My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)
If you're lucky enough to be from a big family you'll enjoy this!
This film is drawn from Nia's real life growing up Greek in Winnipeg. It's riotously funny a points, touching a times, and a great film for the whole family. It does not condemn Greeks or non-Greeks but make a strong comment on what it takes to have deep roots as well as to be from "average" families, and why these opposites attract. The title give you the premise, I thoroughly enjoyed the rest and I'd hate to give away one part of this. See it for yourself. I dare you not to enjoy this!
Insomnia (2002)
When deception goes awry...
This film is great on several levels. Pacino and Swank play off one another with classic big city detective/ small town officer roles that appear to be made for them. The beautiful scenery is a sharp contrast to the typical LA scene and keeps Pacino's character constantly in check. The bonus is Robin Williams in another (less than comedic) role, which he pulls off extremely well.
The Dish (2000)
Apollo 11 from a slightly skewed angle!
I bought movie this based on Sam Neill's earlier work, which I thoroughly
enjoyed. The story is based on the Australian involvement in the
communications with the Apollo 11 crew. Parkes is a small sheep farming
community that built the largest communications facility in the southern
hemisphere. This appear to be the ideal communications station for NASA
during twelve hours of daylight over the US. What happens during this
critical mission is fascinating.

Enemy at the Gates (2001)
As cold and accurate as could be possible...
Most of the memorable moments in this film dramatize the harsh realities of war in the last century. It can't get more graphic without losing viewers, and it couldn't get more dramatic without losing it's sense of reality. It's not overly gory and doesn't glorify the characters but it does provide a cool look into this era and the men who fought.
The Molly Maguires (1970)
Good story with excellent cast.
Good story line. Well played. Excellent cast, with some lesser seen actors. Enjoyed this film throughout. Constantly moving story. Historically accurate as I understand. Good example of Sean Connery's earlier (non-Bond) work.
