Alles Schwindel (2013)
Really funny comedy, must watch in German
This movie is really underrated. Usually, i don't like German productions and German actors but this movie is so funny omg 😂 If you speak German and your family speaks German, you are in for a blast! Please don't watch the English version, the humour mostly gets lost in there. I don't want to say anything about the plot because i wanted to make a spoiler free review. The acting, the direction the music, everything is phenomenal, especially in the first half. The second half of the movie is fine but the first half really steals the show. It's also a great date movie in my opinion.
Hilarious movie! 😂
Blue Eye Samurai (2023)
Kill Bill meets Blade of the Immortal
Welcome to the world of BES, a world divided by class, race, gender, money and power. Mizu must find her place in this world and her philosophy is violence first, questions later.
In my honest opinion, this is the best Netflix animated series after Arcane. But, let's be honest, Arcane is pretty hard to beat.
The animation is gorgeous, the fights and gore are well done, the story is compelling, the pacing is great, the characters are original and the atmosphere is spot on.
My only issues are the mediocre music and the English voice acting. I recommend watching it in Japanese, the Japanese voice acting is superior.
Solid show, 9/10!
One Piece (2023)
The first good Anime adaptation!
I've been watching One Piece since childhood and the Anime is one of my favourite shows. So naturally, i had my concerns when i heard about the Netflix adaptation. But it's a solid show that does One Piece justice! But, there are some issues and some good stuff:
+Good Luffy!
+Good Zoro!
+Good Usopp!
+Good Garp!
+Good Baratié!
+Amazing portrayal of Mihawk!
+Good and intense fights!
+Has this unique One Piece atmosphere!
+This electricity everywhere actually is a nice change.
+Denden Mushi headsets? Cool!!
+Good pacing! (The anime is insanely long and this show solved this problem in a good way.)
-Nami should have been played by another actress in my opinion. One Piece girls are skinny!
-Sanji is totally different and i don't mean in a good way! Where's his constant smoking? Where's his perverted nature?
-Going Merry looks totally awful (unnecessary ears and open mouth, wtf?)
-Why didn't they show Alvida's devil fruit power??
-Arlong looks weird and isn't as threatening.
-Captain Kuro is way slimmer in the anime!
-Gold Roger looks like a weird geezer and not like the King of Pirates.
-Luffy should be stronger.
-The Syrup Village plot should have been one episode.
-Some of the cinematography is weak.
-Some dialogues are boring.
As you can see, this show is not perfect but it's still a good show and definitely the best anime adaptation so far! Give it a try, you won't regret it!
Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi (2016)
Bad start but magic nevertheless!
This show starts rather awfully but if you can get past the first twenty episodes, you'll be surprised by how much this show improves. The characters are believable, their problems are realistic, the sets are amazing as well as is the costume design (seriously, I've never seen good looking clothes like that in an Indian TV show). The acting gets better as the plot thickens. And what a plot it is! There is love, conflict, jealousy, stalking, blackmail and whatnot! I'm especially invested in Dev's struggle of making his mom and his girlfriend happy at the same time, which is really hard in real life as well. I just wish he wouldn't lie so much. Sonakshi is a very well written character as well and her issues are believable. Amazing piece of television but i recommend skipping the first twenty episodes. ✨✨
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Genre bending masterpiece
EEAAO is the kind of movie you should watch in theaters. I watched it on the plane, what a shame! Even so, i was blown away by that experience and it's the best movie ever made in my opinion.
The beautiful Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan deliver like nobody's business. The acting in this movie in general is phenomenal! There's no such thing as a weak scene in it, every second is truly mesmerising. The film plays with your senses and draws you in completely.
The first half does a good job of explaining the characters and the multiverse, the second half is full of action and plot twists.
The score is this movie's only weakness. It's not bad, nothing about this movie is bad, it's just not very special in my opinion. But that doesn't really matter since you're so invested in the story and the visuals.
Get your popcorn and drink, sit back and relax and get ready for something fresh, heart touching and jaw dropping. This movie is a piece of art.
Sachertorte (2022)
Interesting rom-com
We were watching Sachertorte yesterday and we had a good time. Karl from Berlin meets Ninni from Vienna. They instantly like each other. Ninni gives him her number but he looses it. So he goes to Vienna to have a piece of Sachertorte every day at Cafe Sacher, hoping to see Ninni again someday. Little did he know that he'll make new friends and new experiences during the process. Is he going to be the same when they meet again?
Sachertorte reminds me of good old rom-coms from the US and GB. It's fast, funny, exciting and the humour is on point. Also, Vienna is very pretty. I recommend Sachertorte! Check it out!
Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
Eccentric family drama
This is an updated version of my review because now I've seen Arcane twice and so I've noticed a couple of things.
Ok, first things first, i still love this show, it's amazing but there are some issues. These issues contain spoilers. Why did the Hammer guy go down to the slums with Vi? He's literally a politician now, he could just send troops to do the dirty work for him. I thought that was silly. I think this show has pacing problems. Many times, 6 different things happen at once and it's easy to get overwhelmed and confused. The speed of this show is rather fast anyways. I mean, i don't like shows where nothing happens but this speed is a bit much. The occasional hip-hop and trap music during flights feels kinda cringe. Anyways, it's still a great show with heartbreaking scenes and amazing visuals. Silco and Jinx are great to watch but now i must say that Vi is a pretty good character too. Solid 8 out of 10!
The House That Jack Built (2018)
Bloody and different
The House That Jack Built is not exactly a horror movie and not exactly a drama either. It's very difficult to categorise really. There's a lot of smart dialogue and creative shots. It might not be Von Trier's best work but it's definitely a must watch because it feels different from his other movies!
The Wheel of Time (2021)
The Wheel of seriously?
I was looking forward to this show because i loved Game of Thrones (until season 7) and let's just say, this show isn't the new fantasy epic. The characters are not interesting enough, i don't remember any names and that's not a good sign. The music isn't medieval enough, the locations and costumes are fine but i don't care about that when the story is predictable. The monsters are silly. Pike is a good actress but the dialogue is not convincing. Too bad, i had high hopes for it.
Free Guy (2021)
Funny and entertaining!
What if an NPC (Non playable character) tries to understand the world he's living in? That's exactly what Ryan Reynolds is doing in Free City. The only problem, he doesn't know that he's not human!
Reynolds is just so funny in every role nowadays that you will definitely look past the minor problems of this movie. Jodi Comer is doing a fantastic job as well!
It's a fun, good time movie, i definitely recommend it! 7/10! 🌟
Loki (2021)
Smart and Sophisticated!
I didn't think that anything will beat Squid Game this year but Loki did!!
This show is FLAWLESS. FLAWLESS, ok??
The characters are well written, the cinematography is stunning, the music is jaw dropping and the relationship between Loki and Owen Wilson is hilarious!
Please watch it, the story is so great!
Easily 10/10 🔥🔥🔥
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Silly, action packed and funny!
I'm really happy that they made another Suicide Squad after the disasterous first try in 2016. This movie has a better story, more three-dimensional characters and THANK GOD, no Joker...
This is right up your alley if you enjoy funny, silly, action packed adventure movies with occasional (but never frightening) gore.
It feels fresh, vibrant, even more relatable i suppose.
Is it for the whole family? Perhaps not. But DC and Marvel lovers will enjoy it a lot! A solid 8/10!
Dune: Part One (2021)
Breathtaking experience
Finally! It feels like it's been forever since a decent Sci-Fi movie came out! In many ways, Dune is like Star Wars, mixed with a little bit of Game of Thrones and Avatar and it works!
Chosen dude finds out that he's the chosen one, goes to another planet, sides with the "dangerous natives", granted, it's a bit "been there, done that" but don't be fooled by that because Dune is much stronger in other departments!
Everyone's acting is phenomenal. Seriously, Timothée Chalamet was born for this role and it's nice to see Khal Drogo, i mean Jason Momoa, kick some intergalactic ass! Hans Zimmer did an amazing job again with the music. And those landscapes! I don't think I've ever seen a better looking desert in a movie before!
I like that it's not too much on the funny side, the overall atmosphere is very moody and dangerous and i like that.
I personally thought that there wasn't enough blood during the action scenes, like, many characters get killed but, unlike Game of Thrones, you just see them falling down and that's it. I personally like it better when a movie or TV show is a bit more generous with the tomato sauce but ok, that's just a matter of taste i suppose.
Overall, it's a visual treat with a slightly slow (but never boring) story! Well done!
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Gloriously eccentric!
Not only did this hit show break international records like the most watched show of all time, it's actually very entertaining and smart! It is very violent, let's get that right, it's not really made for everyone. But the story is really good and there's a surprisingly good amount of philosophy in this show! How important is money? How important are friends? This show seriously makes you think! Truly amazing! The ending was weak but it doesn't matter. The first 6 episodes are mind-blowing!! 🌟🌟🌟
Feel Good (2020)
Beautiful and fresh!
I love a well executed romantic comedy and this show nails it! Get on the ride and be prepared for drama, emotions and a lot of fun!! Excellent show!! 9/10 🌟🌟🌟
Knives Out (2019)
What happened again?
I didn't like it. I thought it's going to be like Battle Royale because of the same title as the game, Knives Out.... I didn't like Daniel Craig's accent, the whole reason why i like watching Bond movies is because of the accent lol. Besides, nothing really happens. The movie wasn't my cup of tea unfortunately :/
Peaky Blinders (2013)
Deep and visually powerful!
So, this show is pretty violent, let's be clear about that. I want to start with that because i like watching crime and gangster shows etc. But the violence in this show is notable and might be a bit much for some people. That being said, it is also one of the most entertaining, satisfying and well executed shows of recent history in my opinion! The acting is great, the story is meaningful and the costumes are AMAZING! If you like strong storytelling, attention to detail and if you don't mind a little bit of blood every here and there, the show is exactly for you! 👍🌟
Better Call Saul (2015)
Breaking Bad Who??
Breaking Bad and Suits had a Baby and it's called Better Call Saul! Seriously, how could anyone not like this show? Bob Odenkirk is such a good actor and Saul Goodman is such a likable guy. He always tries to do the right thing and the world is not nice to him. You end up wanting him to succeed all the time, it's incredible!
The Salamanca story is explained as well and Lalo is such a good addition to the show!
I personally like this show better than BB! Please watch it!! 💜
Britannia (2017)
Trippy, stylish and creative!
So my expectations were high when I started the first season and that was a mistake. It's not Game of Thrones or Vikings, it's not trying to be that. It's one of those shows that take time to enjoy but once you're used to the characters you can't get enough! The costumes can be a bit silly sometimes but they're never awful, the music is okay and the cinematography, omg! I didn't know that cliffs can be soo beautiful on camera! The acting is great even though some of the lines are a bit tacky. It's a solid 8/10!
Mujeres al borde de un ataque de "nervios" (1988)
Crazy, fun rollercoaster ride!
I'm always uncertain about watching European films because usually, it's hard to keep up with the story and the intension of the director etc. This is a must see, however! This quick paced rollercoaster ride is full of emotional performances, comedy and plot twists! I highly recommend it! 😊👍
Tenet (2020)
Surprisingly underwhelming
So, let me make it clear that I'm a big Christopher Nolan fan. I love the Batman trilogy, Inception and Interstellar. This time, it feels like he was trying to mix everything together, add a little bit of James Bond and see what happens. The result is a confusing and "been there, done that" experience. The acting is fine, the dialogue is pretty decent (if only it would be a little bit louder?), the action is ok but nothing groundbreaking and Robert Pattinson is nice to look at but again, there's this "been there, done that" feeling throughout the movie. Hans Zimmer can't save the movie either. Unfortunately not his greatest piece in my opinion!
Bishôjo senshi Sêrâ Mûn (1992)
Mind-blowing anime about saving the world, relationships and friendships!
Sailor Moon is one of my all-time favorite animes out there. The characters are well written, the music is perfect for the theme and the villains don't disappoint either! At first sight, it looks like it's "just for girls" but don't be fooled by this! It is an action packed time and space adventure that will keep you coming back for more! 10/10!
Castlevania (2017)
Gloriously mesmerizing
I'm not going to waste your time. Make some popcorn, get a drink and start watching it... Thank me later..
Edit: I had to change the rating from a 9 to a 10 after seeing the trailer for season 4! What is up with this show? How do they do it? It feels like it's getting better every season! This forces me to write a longer review.
First of all, oh my god the voice acting! I've never heard better voice acting in any anime ever, period. And believe me, I've watched many animes from FMA, Attack on Titan, Dragonball and One Piece to less popular ones like Chobits and Ajin, both, in English and Japanese.
Then the character development! This show can seriously rival Game of Thrones in that regard. The characters are so well written and versatile that they truly bring this fictional universe to life! There are certain scenes and dialogues in this show that even thouch philosophical ground, truly remarkable and unique for an anime! I can't remember the last time an anime made me think about existence and identity.
What else can I talk about? The music is phenomenal, the animation is astonishing, the fights feel meaningful and inevitable and i love it when a show knows how to do that. The upcoming (and probably final??) season looks very promising as well.
Game of Thrones used to be my favorite show but now Castlevania takes the cake! Seriously! 10/10!!
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
How overhyped can a movie be?
I was looking forward to watching this movie so much because people wouldn't shut up about it and now I must say, WHAT??...
Let's start with the animation which is just awful. This "cellshading" effect makes little dots on everyone's face and that makes the girls in this movie look like they've got beards.. Plus, the whole artstyle just gets in the way imo. Every frame feels like it's full with unnecessary details...
The music is just awful too. Hip-hop and superheroes don't go well together imo...
What else? The story is boring, the voice acting is probably the only good thing about this movie... Isn't that sad?
I believe that only Tobey Maguire is Spiderman. Watch it if you really don't have anything else to do....
Making a Murderer (2015)
Incredible documentary
So, i didn't know anything about this documentary, saw it in my Netflix recommendations and gave it a try. At first, it felt like a regular crime documentary but then...... Oh my God..... The twists and turns in this story are amazing! Season 2 is very interesting too. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed.
