The Deliverance (2024)
Disappointed
I remember reading about this family and their "possession" so I was pretty excited when they came out with the movie. I'm not sure if I 100% believed what happened to them but even then it's not very much like the movie. The movie like many "inspired by true events" was definitely exaggerated. The sad part is that if they exaggerated it should have made for a good movie right? It did not. Like many mentioned it has A LOT of cliche parts already done hundreds of times in other movies, but somehow worse. Many are saying the bad reviews are because it's a "black horror film" and no the bad reviews are there because the movie is bad. I found myself scrolling on social media a lot because it was just boring but I had to finish it in the hopes that it got better. It did not. After the second half it goes downhill.
The Royal Hotel (2023)
No Real Ending
I was really enjoying this movie. It had a good start and was a bit different from most other thrillers. The acting was pretty good and at times made me chuckle. Towards the end it felt like it was coming to a climax but as I was noticing we were getting towards the end of the movie and still nothing had happened I was getting frustrated. I continued to watch because throughout the movie you didn't know what was going to happen next mostly because of the miners and their different characteristics. Once we got to the end I was thoroughly disappointed. The film could've gone so many different ways but it went nowhere.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022)
Wonderful
I haven't seen any of the other Puss N Boots movies so can't compare but this one took me by surprise. We had been seeing the trailer for months and it looked mediocre. I honestly did not want to go see this but my 5yr old did so we went to go watch it and hands down one of the best movies I watched all year. The whole family enjoyed it and I would watch it again.
It's hilarious, has a great story, heartfelt, and just overall fun to watch. I loved how they brought back some old fairytale characters and it brought me back to my childhood. The best part is that it was under 2 hours and being 9 months pregnant it's hard to sit in one spot for too long so this was perfect.
Nisser (2021)
Watchable
The elves themselves did look creepy and that's about the only thing I liked. I agree with just about everyone else this could have easily been a movie. The acting was bad. Jose was one of the most annoying characters ever. Why was she so adamant about taking the little elf away from its family? Why we're outsiders even allowed on the island if you have killer elves behind a fence? Why do they not have phones to warn each other of an outbreak or guns to protect themselves? Too many things did not make sense but episodes were short so I watched it all in the hopes that it would get better. It did not.
Encanto (2021)
Expected more
I wanted to love this but I only liked it. Like plenty of other people mentioned it seemed to be missing something. It felt rushed. It had a good message but there wasn't much of an adventure like most Disney movies. There was only one song I enjoyed which is not good for it being a movie where the characters are Colombian. They have great music so what happened here? Aside from that the movie was beautiful to look at and my 4 year old son and husband loved it.
Skater Girl (2021)
Better than expected
This was a lot better than I expected it to be. I like watching movies based in other countries because I like learning about other cultures and feel like I did learn a bit. I cried towards the end when her dad burned her skateboard. Great acting all around and nice simple plot. I think the only disappointment was during the championship I really thought she would do more tricks but she mainly just skated around for the full 45 seconds.
Das schaurige Haus (2020)
Watchable
This movie was predictable and not scary but beautiful. I live in the desert so enjoy movies with a lot of greenery and I thought the village and surrounding area was beautiful. The story and acting weren't horrible but still a good watch.
Stolen from the Suburbs (2015)
Why?
This was bad. Bad enough to make me create an account and write my first review on here. The story line was interesting enough to get me to watch it but the scripting and acting is just bad. Some of the lines are just so lazy and cheesy. The facts Anna is giving sound very inaccurate and a lot of the female actresses look too alike. Anna and Katherine look like sisters and the bad lady looks like she could be their cousin. This movie was missing "color" and real emotion. I really don't understand the great reviews on here.
