Tron (1982)
Amazing!
Well...I was only 7 when this came out and this is a truly amazing movie to watch for 1982 and the visual effects and story just blows you away and you can understand what could be happening inside a computer and the score/soundtrack is just a masterpiece. If you can watch a movie over and over again and want to listen/download the music then you know this is a truly amazing movie. Tron is such a great name and I love to say this word abolut movies I love I call them timeless...like the matrix why is there not more movies like this as these movies were made for the big screen and uhd...ROLL ON TRON RELOADED.
The Beastmaster (1982)
Top 10 Adventure
Well...me again and this movie is another adventure movie that sticks in my memory as a kid and it is Mike Donovan from "V" as the muscles and his influence over beasts and being able to see through a birds eye which is cool and also one of the hottest bond girls Tanya Roberts RIP with the beauty and body and someone to influence the beatmaster lol. From beginning to end is a great journey of revenge, revelations and finding out who you are with a wee spot of cuteness with the addition of 2 ferrets. No reboot or reimagining will do this justice as so I will stick with Beastmaster 1,2 and 3.
Krull (1983)
Amazing 80's Fantasy Classic
Well...another 80's classic along with Hawk the Slayer, Willow and Red Sonya..I love a good adventure movie..the cast ie Robbie Coltrane, Liam Neeson and Alun Armstrong all still going to this day and the characters they play and also the score as you know and I love a good alien baddy. Being a kid in the 80's this was pure gold and part of a small list of movies I call to myself classics and have grown up to love to this day and these are still being shown on tv which means they mean something...you don't really get adventure movies on their own these days unless taken from a book or a series of books. Movies don't need to be based on books.
Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)
A brilliant collection of stories
Well... every story in this collection a bit like the movie Creepshow but each one unique and they kept the best one till last and end on a ...woooah! The cast and characters recognisable and understood as these are the kind of stories you get form Stephen King as always based on Earth but with sci fi elements. The stories generate a mix of scary, freaky, funny and jealousness being able to wish for anything...but always with a downside. Again I love good sci fi movies so this is up there
John Wick (2014)
One of the best vindication movies of all time!
Well, I did not know what to expect from the title but I am glad I watched this as it has never left me from day 1. I can only say wow and thank you Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski for this amazing work of art alsmost for fight sequences, non stop guns, knives and endless Steven Segal style deflecton moves...so for 20 years I have watched these 2 from 1999 The Matrix to date both have delivered the most amazing action sequences I have ever seen. John Wick is one of the ultimate vindication movies of all time up there with Flightplan (Jodie Foster) and The Negotiator (Samuel L Jackson)..I love vindication movies..Roll on more John Wick
Spaceballs (1987)
Total Escapism..genius!
Well, just a total escape from everything that makes sense and is such a mix of anything and everything..that is Mel Brooks masterclass. The ideas are brilliant and nobody can touch this and I just absolutely love it and still have a laugh and the only reason gave it an 8 was because it was just too much and can give you a headache and my daughter says it is really to silly almost an overdose of funny if there is such a thing.
Clue (1985)
Top Class Who Dunnit!
Well...this is just the best in its class. Again for me the movie and also the music/score lets you know that it will be great fund a wee bit like the movie Haunted Honeymoon with gene Wilder and this really drags you in and throws you about a whole house and Tim Curry leads the way and an all star cast takes you in and out of every door and room showing you a real comical way of making murder fun. Just love it and so far I have never watched anything like it. A master class of the who dunnit..thank you Jonathan Lynn and John Landis.my daughter loves it so that means something!!
Greedy (1994)
Just love it!
Well, another top 10 for me as just brilliant. From beginning to end this story just unfolds and lets you see the lengths a rich family or a family with a rich member go to making sure they are not forgotten and how to find that special person who really loves them. Amazing idea and great cast and such an even better ending and makes you smile and again Olivia D'abo such a hotty and Michael J Fox and Kirk Douglas play it to perfection as uncle and newphew with the late Phil Hartman who just winds you up so much..sorry...winds them up..lol.. a must watch.
Conan the Destroyer (1984)
Another amazing Conan movie!
Well, Arnold again takes us on another adventure in a mixture of different lands and this time on water and with a few more special effects and hands on rescue with the same music though...only reason I gave a 9. I just love a great adventure as so many 80's movies had the best adventures ie Hawk the slayer, Krull and WIllow.. just some of the best and this one the same and are getting reviews as I go as being over 30 years later and I still watch these really means something and they work. This movie is just amazing like I said and some high proifile stars give Arnold some support ie hotties Sarah Douglas (V) and Olivia D'abo (Greedy).
Conan the Barbarian (1982)
A real Barbarian saga!
Well, Arnold has really set the tone for action movies with a real story set from a young age to adult showing how someone can really be changed by extreme life events and how you can focus on and live for something through revenge but should only be in the movies and not in real life otherwise we would end up with a real life purge situation. The theme tune and score was again amazing and I love it and for me again this movie is like having 3 square meals and for me is the prefect saga.
Total Recall (1990)
Just Amazing!
Well, Arnold has blown us away again with this just amazing movie as the 80's and 90's he was the king of Action. This movie got me straight away with the title theme as only so many composers can make you want to download a whole movie score and this is one of them ..Jerry Goldsmith just amazing. The movie includes amazing effects and a great story that keeps you watching to the end and guessing beyond. as I sadid completely blown away and worth watching, downloading and keeping for all time as again this movie is timeless...or until we really colonise Mars!..lol
The Grudge (2004)
This will freak you out!
Well, this is one of my favourite horror movies and is special as one of the movies that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up along with Insidious, The Conjuring and The Howling. The movie works wonders with your nerves and mine especially and the story and soundtrack along with sound effects makes this one of the scariest films I have watched. I only watch it now for scares not the whole thing as is a wee bit boring in bits,
House (1985)
A real haunted house
Well, this is the only haunted house where monsters come out during the day and night and can catch you out and give you a real fright...as from when I was a kid to an adult this still freaks me out. Only a few movies really make the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end and this is one of them as the score/music/sound effects I know really make a movie. I love William Katt all the way from American hero and Carrie and those golden locks and such a memorable character Roger Cobb. I love House 2 but that's it.
Dumb and Dumber (1994)
Dumb and Dumber rules!
Well, Carrey and co again and this film plays to all the dumb and dumber folk out there...such a ride of just funny slapstick jokes and ideas that make you laugh till you cry and think a simple yet complicated life and wish could see and do things their way. I again went to see this 6 times in the cinema with my 6 hot dogs and drink and let myself melt away from my world and enjoy the world of Harry and Lloyd.
Hollow Man (2000)
A really good invisible man story
Well, I love Paul Verhoevens movies and love music by Jerry Goldsmith so 2 of the movie/music greats and think this is a great movie and you can watch it again and again in gaps of 6 months apart...lol.. and it is a great story and the effects are brilliant. This is up there with Flatliners as a great cast and quite high profile which any movie they want people to watch needs to have. I really enjoyed this and not perfect but I don't care and any movie you like watching and listening too works in my books.
Soggy Bottom, U.S.A. (1981)
Stuck in my memory forever
Well, not much to say about the movie as is it watchable but the only thing that is stuck in my memory forever is the dog...and that drum roll...worth just watching for that.
See No Evil, Hear No Evil (1989)
So much fun to watch
Well, I must admit this is my favourite Wilder/Pryor movie as I have watched Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder on their own and they hold their own and together is just a match in heaven and they are looking down this one is just great to watch and laugh at almost constantly. This is their legacy and it will stand the test of time for the idea and will never grow old.
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
An emotional masterpiece!
Well, I cannot fault this movie for how it makes me feel from beginning to the end the you can watch this again and again and the music and songs are just amazing and you will laugh and cry and fall into the world of chocolate and sweets and what you think a chocolate factory would be like inside. Movies never really include all the details the books give but this is what I would pick to represent it. Willy Wonka forever!
The Predator (2018)
Sounds Like Predator but not quite predator
Well, I enjoyed the movie with some great sets and action and the idea of the hydrid predator and the predator killer suit but I feel it was lacking in some high profile actors with the not so high profile so we can hand the franchise off to them. If you are going to make an 18 action movie don't include children as it takes away from the seriousness of the action and story you feel you don't want to take it seriously and as a movie franchise that has never had any other children in it then it does not make sense. Its an adult movie or it should be. I hope they make another but really need to think what does a predator movie deserve...take the fight to a large Predator ship humans trying to get off it...high profile actors please!!
The Mask (1994)
A real escape from reality
Well, Jim Carrey did it again with such a great idea and he as able to show off what he does naturally and it was funny alog with being something true...the masks we wear! Cameron Diaz a real hottie and really raises the movies profile and adding Milo was genius...get the keys not the cheese!...lol.. I went to the cinema 6 times to see this and each time did not disappoint. Roll on the sequel as we know it can be done and we want one..
Click (2006)
Happy Maddision Rocks!
Well, this movie really is something with a cast and story that is up there with the best in my book for life plans...family comes first! An emotional rollercoaster for me and was funny and sad and just really opens you up about work and life balance and lots of topics covered that people miss and should realise can be important in the moment. Adam Sandler hit one out of the park with this one.
Nine Months (1995)
A very enjoyable yarn
Well this one generates a mix of emotions for me as I laughed and almost started bubbling and did not make me angry or unhappy so when a movie can do that for me then I know I like it and some great actors who are great to watch and was make it worthwhile and mixed with a good story made it enjoyable for me. Worth a watch.
Inception (2010)
Movie making brilliance!
Well, this may be a long movie but it really keeps you the whole time with the story, characters, sets and the music which are the key parts of a successful movie. This has it all and how it develops just makes you think what really happens if someone could enter your mind and dreams so I applaud the makers for this movie. This movie can be watched about once each year and it will still keep you enticed and that is what I think a movie should be like. Nolan needs a really big challenge. I think should make a movie about the earth losing it's gravity and things start to float off the earth...think would be great.
Liar Liar (1997)
So funny, cannot fault!
Well, yet another 10 in my list of movies that are the best in my books. Jim Carrey again blows me away with everything he does in this movie and was a great idea and story and if wishes could come true...watch out!..lol. Again stands the test of time and reminds me what could happen if wishes could come true was Twilight Zone the movie the kid who makes wishes and gets whatever he wants.....scary...All in all brilliance and just timeless.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994)
An Ace movie!
Well...just absolutely awesome to watch, such a funny story with extra bits in between and the score and songs are brilliant and Jim Carrey makes it so watchable and memorable so he embedded himself in my hall of funny fame...not much more can say apart from I look forward to Ace Ventura 3....you hear this Steve Oedekerk! We need Ace ...
