Terrifier 3 (2024)
Gore Overload: A Review of Terrifier 3
Terrifier 3 is undoubtedly one of the sadistic movies I've encountered. The film shows a complete disregard for its characters, whether they are children, animals, or adults-there's no safe haven from the brutal violence. It's clear that this film will not sit well with many viewers, especially those who's sensitive.
As a horror enthusiast who's watched hundreds of movies, I must say that while I understand why fans might appreciate it. Yes, there were exciting scenes, but I also found myself bored at some scenes.
-Excessive and Unnecessary Violence-
From start to finish, the film is packed with grotesque scenes that seem designed to provoke disgust rather than fear. The violence is so relentless that it becomes numbing rather than horrifying, with many moments feeling gratuitous. Even kids aren't spared, which crosses a line from horror into something that just feels wrong and uncomfortable. Instead of building suspense or offering any real psychological tension, Terrifier 3 seems to thrive solely on shock value.
-Chaotic Plot and Underdeveloped Characters-
Another big issue for me was the chaotic narrative. While the film introduces elements of supernatural lore and brings back characters like Sienna from the previous film, these plot threads feel underdeveloped and overshadowed by the excessive gore. Art the Clown, while still a creepy and effective villain, can't carry the film alone. The other characters feel flat and undeveloped, making it hard to care about their fates.
Some of the scenes I like:
Interestingly, my favorite moment came during the bar scene, which offered a unique twist amidst the chaos.
Sienna's visions at the dinner table effectively shows her psychological struggles.
Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich (2018)
NOT GOOD
-Poor Plot and Storytelling-
The film's plot is poorly structured and lacks any real direction. While the Puppet Master series was known for its ability to draw the audience into a dark, atmospheric world, The Littlest Reich fails to do so. The story feels disjointed, with scenes existing merely to set up the next gory moment. The pacing is uneven, making it hard to engage with the narrative or care about what's happening. Rather than building suspense, the film seems content to jump from one violent encounter to the next, leaving the audience feeling detached rather than tense.
-Underdeveloped and Unmemorable Characters-
In previous Puppet Master films, the characters, no matter how odd or eccentric, had a certain charm that made them feel special. In The Littlest Reich, however, the characters are flat, unremarkable, and largely serve as disposable fodder for the puppets. There's little to no effort put into their development or giving them personalities worth caring about. As a result, their deaths-though often gruesome-lack emotional weight or impact, making the violence feel hollow.
-Puppets Feel Soulless and Empty-
In the original Puppet Master films, the puppets had a distinct personality and almost felt like characters in their own right. Each one had a unique charm, often evoking a mix of fear and fascination. However, in The Littlest Reich, the puppets feel like little more than hollow tools of violence. They lack the eerie charisma and purpose that made them so memorable in the past. Their actions feel mechanical, and the emotional weight they once carried is missing.
Instead of being creepy, intriguing beings with a backstory, they come across as mere instruments of shock-used only to drive the gore and brutality without adding any depth to the narrative. This lack of connection makes their scenes feel empty, as if they've lost the twisted soul that once made them so terrifying.
Without this emotional core, the puppets are reduced to props, and the film fails to recapture the magic that made the earlier movies in the series stand out. They no longer feel like cursed objects with a life of their own; they feel more like mindless, generic killers, which leaves the audience feeling as detached from the horror as the puppets themselves seem from the story.
-Gratuitous Violence Does Not Equal Fear-
One of the most glaring issues with The Littlest Reich is its reliance on excessive violence and gore, seemingly mistaking shock value for actual horror. While the film certainly delivers in terms of blood and brutality, these elements alone are not enough to make a horror film truly scary. The violence feels gratuitous and over-the-top, lacking the subtle tension and atmosphere that make a horror film effective. Instead of building dread or suspense, it focuses on shock tactics that quickly lose their impact, making the film feel more like a gory spectacle than a genuinely frightening experience.
Missed Potential and Franchise Legacy
The Puppet Master franchise has a rich history and a unique mythos, yet The Littlest Reich squanders that potential. Instead of expanding on the lore or exploring new ideas, the film reduces itself to cheap thrills. Fans of the original films will likely be disappointed by how little effort was made to innovate or provide something meaningful to the story. This reboot seems to misunderstand what made the original Puppet Master films special, focusing too heavily on gore without delivering the creativity or suspense the franchise was once known for.
!! SIDE NOT WITH LITTLE SPOILER !! :
that pregnant woman scene was big OMG! Lol.
Call of Duty: WWII (2017)
Call of Duty: WW2
Call of Duty: WW2 - A Visually Stunning Yet Familiar Journey
Call of Duty: WW2 is a nostalgic return to the series' roots, offering a visually stunning experience with an engaging narrative set in the grim reality of World War II. Developed by Sledgehammer Games, this installment brings the war to life with remarkable graphics and incredibly realistic cinematics that are among the best in the series.
Graphics and Cinematics
The visuals are impressive for their time, with detailed environments and character models that truly immerse you in the era. The cinematics, in particular, are astonishingly realistic, pulling you deeper into the narrative with each cutscene. However, some of the action sequences, like the constant near-death escapes and over-the-top rolling from explosions, can feel a bit exaggerated and detract from the overall realism.
The story follows Ronald "Red" Daniels and his squad-Pierson, Zussman, Stiles, Turner-through iconic battles of the Second World War. The narrative is well-paced, becoming increasingly engaging as you progress. While the plot sticks to the expected themes of sacrifice and brotherhood, it's executed well enough to remain compelling throughout. The voice acting and character development are solid, making you care about the team's fate.
Gameplay and Sound Design
The sound design, including the music and effects, is sufficient to complement the action and atmosphere. The gunplay, however, feels a bit lacking, especially for players accustomed to the more realistic weapon handling in games like Battlefield. The weapons in WW2 retain the classic Call of Duty feel, which can sometimes feel less immersive and more arcade-like. Despite this, the campaign offers a satisfying length, although some frustrating moments-like sudden rocket deaths-might test your patience.
Innovative Mission Design
In contrast to the typical "run and gun" gameplay, WW2 frequently mixes things up with varied mission designs. From stealth operations to large-scale assaults, each mission feels distinct, ensuring that the campaign never becomes monotonous. This variety not only keeps the gameplay fresh but also reinforces the narrative's focus on the different facets of war, from strategic planning to chaotic front-line combat. However, not all the variety works perfectly-the tank gameplay, for instance, feels unnecessarily challenging. The controls are cumbersome, and the experience can be frustratingly difficult, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the mission.
A Satisfying Conclusion
The journey through Call of Duty: WW2 culminates in a powerful and fitting conclusion. The ending ties together the emotional and narrative threads in a way that feels both satisfying and reflective of the game's themes. It leaves a lasting impression, providing a sense of closure that is both impactful and memorable.
Final Thoughts
Call of Duty: WW2 is more than just a shooter-it's a sobering reminder of the cost of war. By intertwining intense action with a narrative that doesn't shy away from the darker aspects of history, it offers a compelling and, at times, unsettling look at World War II. For those seeking a game that balances entertainment with a thoughtful exploration of its subject matter, this installment is a must-play.
Cry of Fear (2013)
Cry Of Fear
10/8
Despite being developed on the GoldSrc engine, boasts a remarkable atmosphere without the best graphics. Story of the Cry Of Fear, while simple on the surface, carries a deep, thought-provoking message with a depressive undertone. The soundtrack is outstanding, perfectly complementing the game's mood. The characters are eerie and imaginative. Although the gameplay may not be innovative or unique, it doesn't feel out of place. Cry of Fear offered free so fans of the genre should definitely play. Overall, Cry of Fear perfect about creating a gripping experience, thanks to atmospheric elements, storytelling, and music.
Watch Dogs (2014)
Watch Dogs
8/10
The game's hacking mechanics are its strongest suit, providing a unique and enjoyable gameplay experience. Manipulating the environment using hacking adds a layer of depth and strategy that keeps the game engaging.
Watch Dogs is pleasing, with sufficient environmental details and damage effects.
While the satisfaction of eliminating the antagonists might be lacking.
The game's ending, with its two choices was enough for me.
The music in Watch Dogs is truly outstanding and adds a lot to the overall atmosphere of the game. The soundtrack features a mix of electronic and ambient tracks that perfectly complement the futuristic setting of the game. Whether cruising through the city streets or engaging in intense firefights, the music always seems to set the right tone, enhancing the overall experience.
Clara's death was a heartbreaking moment in the game, adding a layer of emotional depth to the story and highlighting the consequences of Aiden's actions.
However, Watch Dogs has its drawbacks. One of the main issues is the lack of depth in character development. While I quickly found myself immersed in the game, the other characters felt somewhat shallow.
While playing Watch Dogs, I encountered a few bugs that detracted from the overall experience. These included minor graphical glitches. While these issues didn't occur frequently, they were noticeable enough to be a bit distracting at times.
I also experienced one instance where I had to revert to the last checkpoint during a mission, which resulted in a minor setback of a few minutes.
Another downside is the repetitive nature of some activities. While the hacking mechanics add variety, some missions can feel like a insufficient, which can detract from the overall experience.
In conclusion, Watch Dogs is a well-rounded game with a decent storyline and engaging gameplay elements. While it may not offer groundbreaking innovations, its attention to detail and sweet world make it a worthwhile experience for me.
