Raundal (2023)
Average
The story of this angry young farmer is close to reality but lacks in depth. The depth in acting, direction and presentation detaches an intelligent viewer while watching the film. The exploitation by the Sugar factory owners is well known. But it should be portrayed in the manner in which the movie Saamna was handled wayback in the seventies. Without showing undue violence, the film had reached great heights. After so many years, using the new techniques and facillities, this powerful story could have been handled much subtly than the crude violence and typed cast characters. I hope that the director and the cast will improve their performances in future.
Victoria: Ek Rahasya (2023)
Utter Crap
The handling of this story is weird. The the suspense and horror is laughable. The same story with all it's weak points could have been handled in a much better way. If the main couple wanted to find the mystery in the hotel, the audience should have been taken into confidence about it. First one hour is wasted in guessing about the real motive of the investigating couple. The dialogues look very artificial. There was no need to steal the guess sport of taking a sip for every correct guess, right from the Game of Thrones. It doesn't fit into the marathi culture. People come to watch the movie to experience a real chilling suspense and sudden shocks. Throughout the movie, the audiance never feels the chill and keep waiting for a real turning point. In short, no point in wasting your precious time over such imported culture movies.
A Death in the Gunj (2016)
A good movie
Based on a true story, Konkona Sen has made this film captivating till the end. All aspects are good. But some characters needed better introduction. All the inter relations between the characters get resolved in the minds of audience as the film progresses. But a bit of confusion regarding the character of Mimi remains unresolved. She happens to be a friend of Bonie, which is not clearly indicated anywhere in the movie. Except this, the film is excellent.
Padosan (1968)
Most Hilarious
I could not see the movie after it's release in 1968. But the songs became so famous that I could not resist to watch the movie at a later stage. I was laughing loudly in the theatre annoying my companion. The movie scores on all fronts. A perfect farce, superb acting by all, beautiful music and apt direction. It is an evergreen movie and can be watched any nuber of times. Every time, it refreshes your mind. It allows you to forget your worries, dirty politics and the overall degradation in our society! If the young generation has missed it so far, it is a must watch movie.
Dombivli Return (2019)
What a waste of time!
After watching Dombivali Fast, we had great expectations for this movie with talented actors like Sandeep Kulkarni, Hrishikesh Joshi. But Alas! The director and story writer have made a mess of the movie. The plot is childish, the direction is below average and the end is catastrophic. On the pretext of a lengthy dream, you cannot fool the audience. There is no logic, the story is typecast and lacks finesse. The audience leaves a bitter taste in mouth when he finds that he is cheated and fooled. Never see any movie unless you read the synopsis. Don't get impressed by the mighty star cast.
Samantar (2020)
Part -2 is abusive
After watching the first season of it, it developed interest and curiosity. Although the acting was average, direction of Rajwade was promising and making it interesting. Storyline is good and could have been handled better. But the second part is a complete disappointment. The hero uses foul language with everybody. I have never seen any educated Marathi family in which the husband and wife are abusive to each other for no reason. The story in the second part is also not convincing. If you are lucky enough to know your future in advance, you can certainly avoid the mistakes of the first line character. Instead, the hero makes the same mistakes and repeats all the happenings in the first line to make the second line exactly parallel, as the title suggests. The court scenes are pathetic. Swapnil Joshi has acted well when he is silent. Tejaswini Pandit, Nitish Bhardwaj and Sai have acted in a better way. But overall, the impression is not good, mainly due to excessive abusive language.
