Gi-eok-ui bam (2017)
And once again the Korean film industry has given us another masterpiece.
'Forgotten' is not a film that I will forget anytime soon.
This film is a psychological thriller and will forever remain in my the list of my favorites.
The plot itself is exceptional and nothing in the synopsis on Netflix, prepared me for what I was getting myself into. The entire first half of the film keeps one at bay. The master of thrillers wouldn't be able to guess what the second half has in store (this is high praise coming from me because I've digested some of the greatest thrillers/psychological dramas that exist).
Acting was not only exceptional, it was extremely gripping. I went back whenever I blinked to catch what I missed. There aren't many jumpscares like other thrillers which is the best part because one gets to focus on the depth and brilliance of the story, the actors, the cinematography and such.
The second half of the film and ending is going to keep me up at nights, I already know that and I'm not complaining one bit.
For me 'Forgotten' was a treat. I couldn't have asked for a better Korean psychological thriller.
It's rewatch value is quite high for me and I'm recommending you watch this with no distractions.
P. S.: My review may come off vague but I don't want to spoil it for anybody. 'Forgotten' will go down in my history not as a film I randomly came across, but an Experience.
Heartstopper (2022)
Heartwarming
This is one of the most heart warming LGBTQIA+ teen series I have watched till date. Nick's attempt at coming in terms with his sexuality and Charlie's caring nature is adorable. I love the way both of them have portrayed the feeling of liking each other yet being unable to express it. Even Elle and Tao being such supportive and protective friends is just amazing. Tara being not ready for all the back lash coming from people around her just because she comes out as a lesbian. It's all so heart breaking yet amazing. I really hope Netflix decides to renew this. I'm in love with all the characters, of course except Harry and Ben. 😅
83 (2021)
***DUMBSTRUCK***
SPOILER ALERT :
Like the title of the review, I have no words for how beautifully Kabir Khan had selected the characters who had resemblance of the amazing people in the team of '83 as well as the players from West Indies. This film just gave a heart warming joy throughout it was playing on my screen. My heart jumped when India lost a wicket and eyes welled when they won. Everytime the kid would come up yelling at the top of his lungs "Kapil Dev", all I could do was cry with the feeling of immense pride knowing I was born in the same land Kapil Dev, Jimmy Amarnath, Gavaskar, etc were born in. Even though I knew the match was over 2 decades ago but every time they were playing it felt like I was watching it Live and the rush was REAL. I really loved Ranveer Singh's acting very much with the accent, the incomplete sentences, the shy nature, the love for his land, etc. Everything was just unbelievably beautiful.
Fractured (2019)
Brilliant Plot
I seriously don't understand the bad reviews for this film. I mean, the plot kept on making me think over and over again. One minute I'd think I've figured it all out and then again would feel, may be that's not it. You'll never figure out who is correct till you reach the last 5 minutes of the film. There is some brainstorming required to figure it out. You can literally can't take your eyes off of the screen for a second. In short, this is worth a watch. You won't be wasting your time.
How to Get Away with Murder (2014)
Awestruck!!!
To be honest, I started watching this series just cause the title is captivating. I saw Viola Davis and was like this is going to be crazy and of course it was. I've just finished watching the last episode of the 6th season and damn I feel bad that this is over. Never did I feel bored in the whole journey of this series. The acting, the plot, the twists, everything was just so perfect. I have always wanted to study law as my mom and uncle are lawyers, my grandpa was a police officer. This series pulled the right strings and probably I'll be enrolling into a college soon. But all I want to tell y'all who are still thinking whether you should watch it or not cause its too long, I'd say "Go Ahead dude, or you'll miss it." This will be worthwhile. I promise.
The Alpha Test (2020)
Not that good..
As I have mentioned in one of my previous reviews. I'm not a sci-fi fan. This is a completely sci-fi thriller. It has drama, thrill and suspense. The plot revolves around an AI prototype which is being bought all around. This is a robot hence it is not taught about anything that is harmful like a knife, gun, etc. But eventually living around human beings the AI becomes violent, aggressive and deadly. It is not that interesting to be honest. I liked the concept. But the robot looks weird. The VFX were not good enough. Blood spill looked like red tea. Again that is what I think about it. This is just an idea of how the plot goes. I don't wanna kill the suspense.
I won't recommend the movie but if you wanna watch it... Do go ahead.
Becoming (2020)
Thriller not horror...
It's a horror cum thriller film. I kind of liked the suspense that was build in. The plot is about a kind of soul that takes possession of a body. The person becomes aggressive and ends up killing his wife and children and then kills himself. Once the family is killed the soul goes to another prey and this process goes on and on. I don't want to kill the suspense so I would suggest that you go ahead and watch the movie. Yet again I would like to add that there is no ghost that you might wanna see. You don't see ugly looking faces. This is just a human who gets possessed.
Modo Avião (2020)
Boring...
This is another Netflix original. The movie is in Portuguese but Netflix had an English dubbed version too. The plot is about a social media influencer crashing her car while talking to someone on her phone. She is forced to go to her grandpa's where there is no reception for detention. This is another boring plot with no capability to engage the audience. There is a lot of horrible acting and weird situations. I would not recommend watching this. But that is completely my opinion. You might like it as well.
Strange Events 2 (2019)
Waste of time..
This is again a compilation of short stories. Has a very few occasions when you actually feel like you're echoing a horror movie. Most of the stories had a comic aspect included and makes the stories even more boring. I literally tortured myself through this film and I would recommend you guys not to do this to yourselves. This is nothing but series of boring and torturous short stories. This film has nothing that would engage you. Each of the stories started with the location and date mentioned on the screen while it started to make it look real and fascinating but alas!! Nothing happened. This is totally a waste of time. And the twins on the poster are not in the film.
BEWARE!! People who love horror films and stories. You might just have a panic attack if you watch this. Impossibly boring. On the other hand if you think you have insomnia you may as well wanna try this therapy.
The Unborn (2009)
Average
Watched THE UNBORN and I'd rate it a ⭐⭐⭐ /5stars.
The first scene is quite interesting. It looks like the movie will keep you engaged but not for long. The plot is I must a quite average as far as I think. The story revolves around a DYBBUK [(In Jewish mythology, a dybbuk (Yiddish: from the Hebrew verb meaning "adhere" or "cling") is a malicious possessing spirit believed to be the dislocated soul of a dead person. It supposedly leaves the host body once it has accomplished its goal, sometimes after being helped.]
The dybbuk is fascinated towards twin kids and wants to come to life by possessing any of the twins. The protagonist didn't know she had a twin. Now I won't wanna ruin the suspense more. You can go ahead and watch the movie. But don't expect too much horror effects. It's an average film.
The Last Exorcism (2010)
Intriguing...
In the beginning you feel like it's pretty slow paced but then it catches up quite soon. The plot of the film is very intriguing. The documentary shot idea is great and it makes you feel you are right there. The best part was I never got lost watching it. The whole time it had my full attention. Very much engaging. The acting was also good by all of them. The story revolves around a person who is called to do an exorcism actually doesn't believes in it and tries to convince the father of the so-called possessed girl to a psychiatrist but fails to do so as the father lost his wife as doctors couldn't save her from Cancer. And one thing that is again a little different here is this is on those movies where you don't have a happy ending. It is terrifying how the movie ends. Apparently not many people have rated it good but in my opinion it is worth a watch. You don't find good documentary type films these days.
Overall a pretty fascinating horror film and I will totally recommend it.
#Realityhigh (2017)
Average movie.
Just watched the #REALITYHIGH a Netflix Original.
A pretty much average plot with less than average acting. It's about a teen nerd girl who ends up dating her crush-boy (handsome and hot swimmer) since childhood who got dumped by the hottest chic in school. The hot chic used to be her best friend until she started bullying her when they were kids. It's a typical teenage romantic film which has a gay friend and a follower girl always around the famous chic. And a male best friend of the nerd girl. The movie is so predictable that I kinda knew all the next scenes as I watched the movie. The hot chic takes revenge on our protagonist nerd girl and it was so severe that all her followers go against her and become friends of the nerd girl by the end of the movie.
Overall I'd say this is one of the worst Netflix original I have ever watched and would not recommend you guys to watch it. Don't waste your time and data for this one.
Dangerous Lies (2020)
Brilliant storyline.
SPOILER ALERT folks!!!
The storyline is amazing. It happened to grab my attention due to the thrilling suspense. This is a new addition to the Netflix Originals and a superb 90 minutes long thriller suspense. Camila Mendes has yet again proved that she has it all in her. She's one example of beauty with brains. The way she carried that character till the end was commendable. The film is overwhelming with suspense.
This story is about a couple who are trying make their ends meet when Leonard Wellsley (Elliot Gould), the owner of a humongous mansion for whom Katie(Camila Mendes) works dies at 88. The twist begins when Katie and Adam (Jessie Usher) find out from Leonard's attorney Ms. Bryon-Kim (Jamie Chung) that Leonard has left the property to Katie in his Will. The suspense takes another turn when Katie finds a body in the attic with a small pack of diamonds worth millions of dollars along with the trunk full of cash worth 100 thousand dollars. Adam, who is sick of being poor encourages Katie to keep that secret and dumps the dead body and hides the diamonds while Detective Chesler (Sasha Alexander) is on her toes to find a link between all of the happenings with Adam. She suspects Adam to have something to do with Leonard's death and believes that Katie doesn't know about it.
While Detective Chesler is finding clues to catch Adam, Hayden (Cam Gigandet) who happens to be pretending as a Real Estate Agent shows up at the mansion where Adam was planning to fled with Katie and all the fortune they have gathered. Hayden then attacks Katie but Adam manages to shoot him to death and being gravely injured and dies too. Just at that moment the attorney shows up who actually is an accomplice with Hayden and wants to get hold of the diamonds comes by and attacks Katie too. Now that everything is clear that Adam was innocent, Katie realizes her fault to doubt him but it is too late. But Detective Chesler shows up at the right time to save the day.
Finally in the end we see Katie is pregnant and gardening at the mansion and Detective Chesler breaks her the news there that the case is officially closed. Katie says how Adam never told her where he hid the diamonds and they say goodbye to each other. But Oh My God!! When both of them leave the garden. Lo and behold the diamonds are right there in the garden. God knows who'll be the one to find 'em there.
Overall this film is worth a watch. You won't regret trust me.
The Half of It (2020)
Amazing movie..
SPOILER ALERT!!
Watched THE HALF OF IT and I'd give it a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5.
The storyline is about a cute love story. Not like the cliché stories that they come up with nowadays. It's different. The story revolves around a chinese girl Ellie Chu who runs a business in high school by writing essays for everyone for money. She is not a famous kid. Professor's love her though. She is befriended by Paul who tries to write a romantic love letter to Aster who is the most beautiful girl in the school. Ellie helps Paul to come close to Aster by writing letters and messages to her on Paul's behalf. But in the end Ellie blurted out that she was the one writing those letters indirectly when Moose proposes to Aster in Church to marry him. Next we realize that Ellie is actually in love with Aster.
I would have loved it more if it would have been a little more engaging. The movie goes very slow and some might as well stop watching it mid way. I just loved the concept. I'd not mind watching it but to give a true idea of the movie it seems a little turn off for people whom I know.
