Christmas Rush (2002)
Oh Come on. its Fun
After years of watching high priced Hollywood drivel (with the odd exception) I have taken to loving this type of film. Its plot is about a simplistic as you can get, and the actions scenes are very entertaining. Sure the characters are wafer thing.. But isnt that the point. I vote highly for this type of film and hope the company spits out more and more of them.
At least they reflect the budget they had, not the $100Mill pop videos that Burbank and suchlike are churning out.
Not ideal Cinema movies, but great night in front of the DVD/VHS with a bottle of your chosen and some nibbles.....
Lost in La Mancha (2002)
Excellent!!!!
I watched this after reading a review in Empire Magazine. This film is a great look at the way films are made, sadly the film never was made. Due to acts of god, and more bad luck than i have ever seen in any one time. My heart truly goes out to Terry Gilliam who put years of his life into this film only to have it die in his hands due to sickness, weather, investors and insurance. Im just glad that a film came out of the efforts of the cast and crew. Sadly its not the film they wanted to make, but it was made nonetheless.
I cant rate this film highly enough for anyone interested in movies.
Seek it out!! NOW!
Millennium (1996)
Intelligence
Chris Carter, creator of Millenium and the X Files. Millenium was cancelled, where is the justice in that. Millenium took intelligence to follow, it was dark, gruesome and eery. Just like life. More believable than X Files, Frank Black was a 3dimensional man, one that we could understand and relate too. He didnt need to talk or smile to convery emotions. We understodd him anyway. If you havent seen this series, dig it out, find it, buy it or borrow it. Because you have to watch it. I already own season 1 on VHS, and am eagerly awaiting season 2 and the few episodes of season 3 that were made. Millenium. Amazing
Murder One (1995)
The Best
This series has to be one of the best series that has ever been created for television. Yet it was cancelled. Why? Too intelligent for most people i guess. It took 24 episodes to tell a story and what a great story it told. The characters were amazing and so real. And the second season wasnt far behind the great heights that season one assended too. If there is any justice in TV land (and i dont think there is) then people will beg on there hands and knees to Steven Bochco's office for another series of Murder One. And the sooner it comes out in some nicely packaged DVD box set, the sooner i shall smile.
