Antebellum (2020)
Kitchen sink
This was sloppy. I expect more from the people behind this that have delivered amazing films and could even say, have changed the horror flick game. Not to be said here, though. Had it not been for the confusion of the films sequence, I would have fallen asleep ten times before the cliche ending. I was hoping for more I guess. It wasn't bad....but it wasn't fckng amazing either-
The Hustle (2019)
Waste of time
What another horrid example of how Hollywood has lost its creative edge and thinks they can remake classics with gender replacement. As if the premises of this films inception wasn't enough, there's a narrative over the entire film that's obnoxious AF. Two thumbs down. Watch the better remake, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Shattered (2017)
Thriller?
In no way was this a thriller. Hallmark makes better suspense movies than this. What a waste.
Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret (2013)
It's about a girl
I gave it a 8 because I love Tania. Straight up she's amazing. The movie was really good too.
Space Force (2020)
Agendas at hand
This was a decent run but the obvious mockery of POTUS and Space Force is overbearingly evident all the way down to the AOC act a like scene. I'm sure everyone knows the Obamas have an invested interest in Netflix so no surprise to those who read between the lines what this was a mockery spoof of our current leadership.
Veronika Decides to Die (2009)
Misleading description
After a frantic suicide attempt, Veronika awakens inside a mysterious mental asylum. Under the supervision of an unorthodox psychiatrist who specializes in controversial treatment.
Didn't seem mysterious by any means nor did I see any controversial treatment methods. Such a description would lead one to believe there was a suspenseful thriller in this. Not the case. If you want to watch a boring drama, have at it.
Accident (2017)
Absolutely awful
Random use of inhaler at beginning- obvious staging for later. What did they launch off before hitting the other car? Only one airbag went off? Where are the guys in all this? They can't get through one of the six windows? (One rock blocking one window yet there's a tree branch through the windshield.) The cars is upside down, not crushed... Random rocks falling- nothing came of that. Helicopter takes off from somewhere with no follow up until another quick b roll clip 20 minutes later. How does one whose life depends on an inhaler not realize where it is immediately and to salt the wound, lose it in a time of crisis? Surgery with a number 2 pencil to open the airway? Again, where's the inhaler? Oh there it is- conveniently seconds after opening her throat with a pencil they find it. One guy finally appears, outside of the car with a branch coming out his chest but his primary concern is his "jacked" leg? ......come on. Amazing that bottle of vodka stayed under the seat after the car crashing and flipping over yet a passenger was ejected and a random branch went through his chest. Wow...amazing. (rolling eyes) Thomas "wakes up" around 48 minutes into the movie and astonishingly gets out of the car 3 minutes after waking up. Thomas gets out and fights off the down power cable wildly flailing sparks in the rain and helps his friend outside of the car. As he helps up the other dude, the once "jacked up" leg is now the one he uses to support his body weight in standing up with Thomas. Really....? I could go on and on I'm sure as there are 30 minutes left of this monstrosity but I'm choosing to turn it off and save those minutes of my life for something of value .
Waste of Time
Savage Youth (2018)
Oof
Good acting but drawn out way longer than it had to be and nothing really happened until the last 15 minutes. The trailer was better than the movie.
The Odds (2018)
Zzzzzz
I fell asleep. Twice. "Would You Rather" is a much better film of the same plot.
Hush (2016)
Why? Why?!
I haven't finished the movie, I'm only 7 minutes in but I will tell you this. NO ONE wants to watch a movie and hear a fire alarm going off for TWENTY THREE SECONDS. We get it. She's deaf. The audience is not. Why do producers do this? Fire alarms ringing on and on, phones ringing more times than possible. As if I wanted to sit down and watch a movie only to hear annoying tones from reality I've drowned out to watch the film. Absolutely ridiculous. 23 seconds of a fire alarm going off... who TF wants to sit through that and more importantly, what psycho thinks someone wants to sit through that and call it entertainment. Cmon!
The Wrong Missy (2020)
It's a fan thing
I guess you have to be a Happy Madison and company fan to truly enjoy and appreciate this like I did. I grew up watching these guys and David Spade always delivers. As always, the usually suspects showed up to make it another comedic classic under the HM umbrella. Great cameo at the end too if you're from this generation of comedy gold.
Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics (2020)
Well Played
Excellent delivery. True stories reliable if you've been there. Hollywood digs and props all justifiable. Ending credits showing referred facts seals the deal. Winning.
John Henry (2020)
WTF was that?
Big Terry Crews fan as well as Chris Bridges. The under motivated writing was drowned out by the soundtrack, which seemed to have a new tune every 5 lines or two minutes. I couldn't tell if this was a movie or a music video, noting the overwhelming music. The audio didn't help either. I spent 90 minutes with the volume controller in my hand between the ominous music tones and the low muttering lines spit. Just because something is in the top 10 on Netflix doesn't mean it's good, it's trending and those props go to the two aforementioned actors alone. Without Terry and Chris, no one would have watched this film. Disappointed to say the least. There are no spoilers to report because the movie itself is spoiled.
Babysitter Wanted (2007)
Absolutely Terrible
I'd write more but I already wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this garbage. I mean, wow.... do yourself a favor and find something else. ANYTHING ELSE.
For the Weekend (2020)
Nice.....
Watch this movie. Give it a minute. It's gooooood. Don't expect Hollywood budget, you've gotta appreciate indie and raw cut films to enjoy this fully. Very well put together and excellent writing. I'm golf clapping in between scribe with admiration.
The Reliant (2019)
Waste of time
Horrible acting. There are some places religion doesn't belong and this type of plot is exactly that. The Bible references are as ridiculous as the dramatic bad acting from the over emotional female lead who seems to have no clear vision of her current reality or any real reality for that matter outside of a bible verse, which isn't realistic in daily life much less an apocalyptic scenario as this. Taking out the Jesus factor and the whiny cliche immature female and you may have something. I'm most sad I'll never get these two hours of my life back-
Heatstroke (2013)
False advertising
Enjoyed the flick but was hoodwinked to watch it with the cover and main actor being Stephen Dorff (spelling) . Kinda knew he was going to die early based on the synopsis but disappointing nonetheless. Still, with a watch excluding the lead role expectation.
Mysteria (2011)
Pass
I was skeptical to start and 5 minutes into it I turned it off. Maybe I didn't give it a chance but after a phone rings for 45 seconds in a scene I was utterly annoyed. Who writes, directs and produces a film and thinks people want to hear a phone ringing that long?! Torture.
The Assignment (2016)
Worth watching
I don't think a lot of the viewers understood the direction the director took in this and perhaps that's the trailers fault or maybe the classification the film type. Taking into consideration the style, I enjoyed this film but it did take me to the end to truly understand the POV the move was to take. A second showing would be more entertaining, having better understood its motive.
John from Cincinnati (2007)
Um....what?
I just sat through the first 9 out of 10 and still have no idea what I'm watching. Perhaps it's my genre preference that leaves this title at a 4 but IMDB stated this was a drama series when it came off as more of a holistic comedy parody. I was expecting something along the lines of Animal Kingdom. I was way off... this gets a 4 versus a 1 because of the acting but the plot and storyline have yet to actually identify themselves 90% into the series. HBO was right to cancel after season one as it does not climax to their level of sensational programming. The actors, again, are amazing but no one in their right mind would tolerate the ignorant verbal abuse delivers every episode. The overacting of above normal emotional Duress diarrhea, flaws her character into the all known fitting cliche of women who oversee men. Waste of time.
Hunters (2020)
Meh.....
It was a decent story and the acting was great but I can't give it more than 6 stars when something is written so laymen, I can figure out the ending of 10 episodes on EP3. The blatant use of the WULPH was a Dead giveaway. Wolf in sheep's clothing story line? Come on, Jordan. Tyler Perry could have made this a 2.5 hour movie and gotten the same point across without all the hoopla. As an avid film fanatic this just didn't merit binge worthy watching. Good story but again, easily predicted if you're actually watching. Some timelines didn't add up either. How did they go from a citywide blackout in 5 boroughs to a Jewish funeral the very next day? As if they didn't have enough time to lapse appropriately between 10 episodes. This was lazy and could have had a lot more depth. The set up for a second season is unappealing as they've posted Al Pacino all over the marketing efforts and he's now the dead bad guy. Unless you get another leading role player, the Hunt has hunted itself into game over.
Animal Kingdom (2016)
Woah....
My only disappointment in this series is that it isn't over and I have to wait to see what comes after season 4. Binge watching this show left me still thinking about it days later. That, is writing. Excellent story, great twists and an all star cast the millennial majority wouldn't appreciate but delivers nonetheless. Sons of Anarchy meets Bloodline, IMO- absolute hit.
Mindhunter (2017)
A Netflix showboat
Great show but the 'watch next episode' feature doesn't display as an option until all the directors and producers names are displayed....Every. Single. Episode. If you watch The Office, the 'next episode' feature shows within 3 seconds. For a Netflix original like this, 10 seconds to show all their cronies. Not every Netflix Original does the same but it does signify the self ego bias for its own programming as opposed to series purchased (which built their platform in the first place) Looking forward to season 3, just not sitting through the Netflix credentials. Show some equality, Netflix. We know you're an Obama owned interest but you don't have to be blatant to those who can read between. Your programming is excellent. Your political injections into streaming is what sucks.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005)
Very Philly
I love this show but the outrageous screaming at times leaves me at a six. Funny becomes obnoxious too often for a higher rating or a fan follow. If it's on I'll stop to watch and I'll enjoy it, but I don't go looking for crazy.
