Safe (2018)
Life's too short
The Harlan Coben mini-series share a few common characteristics, such as protagonists performing unlikely or downright stupid actions, leads that are not followed up, over-acting etc.
In addition the series have a dream-like quality. It's just like everything is unreal. All cars are super clean and shiny, even after driving through the mud. Hair and clothing impeccable.
With regards to Michael C Hall's British accent: as you may have guessed by now, I am not a native English speaker. His accent did not really bother me, although it would add to the credibility of the series if they simply made Tom Delaney an American doctor who moved to the UK.
I will not watch a Harlan Coben series again, life's too short.
The Hunt for Red October (1990)
Such a peculiar film...
The Russians speak in English, except when there are Americans around, because then they speak Russian. Very strange.
It's also quite predictable. A Russian officer for instance dreams of defecting to the USA and moving to Montana soon. As a viewer, one immediately knows he's not going to make it, as was confirmed at the end of the film.
At no point one has the feeling that the action takes place in an actual submarine. The claustrophobia of for instance Das Boot is never achieved, which is really a shame.
All in all, I found this film to be quite disappointing. I even preferred The Enemy Below.
Disparu à jamais (2021)
Waste of time and money
Obviously, quite some time and money were spent on these series, but what a waste. Acting is ridiculously poor and many scenes give the impression the story is a parody on a thriller, rather than a thriller itself. May these series be gone forever.
Morten (2019)
Too predictable
We watched two episodes of Morten and then we had to quit. The dialogues were simply too predictable and the acting too clumsy. Lead character was OK-ish, but lacked the charisma of a credible party leader. Lower class accents sounded fake.
