I ended up coming across Crypt T.V with my sister on youtube, because we were searching horror films due to lack and boring ones on "Netflix" Upon discovering this amazing channel "Crypt T.V" The Birch happened to be my favorite out of them all.
The Birch, an amazing title choice, with a very strong origin, well brought together throughout the episodes. It's a teen horror and among the current age, not much of horror films are good, but The Birch, does it terrific. You come across a teen who is grieving at the lost of her mother, while coming across something she shouldn't have seen, then threatened if she told the police. During someone grieving about a loss, you should not threat them because it's just cruel, but in the end, she found something.
She found a new mother, "The Birch" which in my opinion damn well designed, tree like monster, as the name fits with it's creative look, birched look figure. That lends help those in need of love and protection, truly a mother figure, but in a resembling form of nature, so a Mother Nature horror twist. LOVE IT.
You learn the origin of "The Birch" throughout the episodes that has a strong meaning, well thought through, a BIG BACK BONE (if you know what I mean) all honesty, the main character "Evie Grayson" acted by Xaria Dotson, gives me "Eleven, Stranger Things" Vibe. Grieving, to becoming a badass!.
I was surprised how well the characters were connected, acting very good, yes that's a strong saying, but it's what I think. Crypt T.V did a beautiful job of making "The Birch". Keeping you interested, luring you deeper into the lore, while you can't help but feel for the creatures motives. You tend to fall in love with the series, not just because it's a very good built story-line, but the creature herself "The Birch".
This T.V series deserve a lot of attention, it deserves a movie to release in theaters, like come on!, Out of all people, Jason Blum and Blumhouse Production back this company up a lot, which shows a lot of promise.
