This a is a real gem. It is over the top at times but is great fun. At its core it has real heart and you can't help but root for the three leading ladies even when they revealing all their flaws. There is also a genuine and realistic portrayal of the sex trafficking industry. Some might find the portrayals of violence too explicit, it is extremely graphic, visceral and not for the squeamish.
You can view the three seasons as a three act play and I would recommend you watch all three in quick succession. Fine performances from all involved with a tremendous soundtrack on top, there is much to like.

Amazing music, anyone agrees? Loved the music at the end of each episode, brilliant choices.
Good show. And sends a great message about hookers and strippers. Hats off to the real strippers. Good action and screenplay. One time watch series. Lets see what gonna be new in season 2. And theres lot of sex scenes so dont watch it with family.
First, if you like movies or cinematography from Quentin Tarantino you'll love this one. Second, acting is correct from the main cast. Nothing superb but good performances from the main trio. Last, some good old songs in the show from movies like Kill Bill or Trainspotting.
On the other hand, the series includes a lot of cliches and so many questions to answer (maybe on season two) and unbelievable situations from the characters.
So, overall an acceptable Tarantinian Spanish style series for an easy watch (the whole season is watchable only in 4 hours).

Are you a fan of Money Heist, Squid Game, Tarantino films, etc? If yes, you will probably enjoy Sky Rojo. Plenty of violence, nudity, action, drama, and dark comedy. All episodes flow nicely and are easy to watch even with subtitles (recommended over dubbed version). Sure there are plotholes and the chasing can after a while seem repetitive, but the gore and explicitness ensure the viewer is never really bored.
Lastly, the show seems quite expensive and well thought out in terms of production value and cinematographic detail so if that's important for you there shouldn't be any disappointment.

I particularly found the series incredible, the authors knew how to approach a topic as delicate as the trafficking and the exploitation of women in a way that the viewer succeeds in reflecting throughout the episodes. Not to mention the cast, well made and worked characters. I take the opportunity to take my hat off here for the actress who plays 'Wendy', Miss you were born for the stage.

SkyRojo (English audio) so far the first season is nowhere close to the thrilling and rip-roaring MoneyHeist. So please don't have high expectations if you are watching, because you loved MoneyHeist ❤

Very high productionquality, acting and story... some scenes might seem a little dragged out, but these women are so much fun to watch. empowering strippers :D

Alejandro Amenabar pulled me into Spanish cinema with his amazing storytelling and writing, which his equally awesome senior Pedro Almodovar couldn't do for me due to genre choice. So, the premise of a Spanish show about kick-ass whores being hunted by incredibly handsome pimps, wrapped in a sexy (more like porn, actually) atmosphere, really excites me.
And to my delight, the first season delivers! There are a few loose knittings that could be tighten, like how fast the guy recovers and how on Earth a skinny anxiety ridden junkie could run without stopping for what seems like 8 hours or so. Still, all around performance is good, writing is good (lots of heart and thought provoking messages are not shoved down our throat,) storytelling is good, those earn this show a 7 for me, with the beautiful faces all over the show (it's a bit hard to find ugly faces here) and the porn visual wrapping push it even further to a solid 8! I couldn't wait to watch the second season!
And here's where everything goes downhill. I hate story stretching. I hate template tracing. I know it's an industry, but it's not manufacturing industry, it's art industry, so creativity is an obligation here, not template.
Sadly, that's what they're going for. The three guys should have easily been corpses by the first episode and the girls move on to new story arcs and new exciting adventure. I mean, literally, the chances are solidly set up by the end of the first season. But instead, they use the successful template and make the second season an exact copy of the first. One girl is badly wounded, one is still an idiotic junkie, and they are hunted by the same three guys.
So, yeah, thank you for the excellent first season, but no, thanks.

This was just one long chase scene, and a stupid one at that-at least when it doesn't bore you with Zen thinking on prostitutes and pimps and johns. I don't know which was worse.
Hyper-violent and bloody, as if this were enough to make it entertaining. And women's bodies. I was going to say "sex" but there is only the hint of that, but lots of sexual suggestions as the series is about a strip club- brothel (puticlub in Spanish). If you are looking for sex, watch porno. If you want an action thriller, this comes up short.

This series is a powerful masterpiece. Coming from Alex Pina, I really anticipated this series and it didn't disappoint. I don't want to spoil it for you.

If you are looking for another Alberto (Miguel Angel Silvestre) and Raul (Asier Etxeandia) best stop here because Velvet it ain't! Their characters couldn't be more different, Romeo - Asier Etxeandia is the nasty club owner and Moises - Miguel Angel Silvestre is one of his henchmen. It's a club with prostitutes and Romeo justifies it as necessary for the economy, they make him a lot of money and work to clear their debts, but they never clear their debts. The opportunity arises and 3 of the girls escape, no spoilers as to why. The henchmen go after them. Their back stories are revealed as to why they all end up at the club. It's a great little story of girls getting their inner strength to fight back, short episodes and definitely lined up for another series. I enjoyed it.
However, started series two and just finished episode 2 and not going any further, I won't change my star rating as I gave it for series one. Stars for 2 would be 2 or 3. I couldn't get into it, made no sense, no story line and clearly the writers didn't have a story in mind either. Life is too short to persevere.

Great camaraderie between the 3 main girls, and a thrilling escalation of events :-)
CAVEAT: There are more than a few unrealistic aspects that sometimes take you out the story :-(

This show took me by surprise. The first 10minutes I was dubious, thinking perhaps it's going to be cheesy. After episode one I realised its FULL cheese but the best kind. All the actors are fantastic and believable especially the villain Pimp. The storyline is crazy, original, violent and fun. Every 15minutes I was left breathless with anticipation. The curly haired, black main actress is beautiful too. I can't wait for season II. All I have to say is watch it or regret it.

It's my third show from Spanish Producer Alex Pina, the previous ones were Money Heist and White Lines. I'll be honest if you watch most of Hollywood today, the action is usually bland and you generally do not care about heroes that much, with Alex Pina anything he produced was creative, unexpected and kept you hooked, this producer knows how to make villains, how to create drama and how to make you root for the characters... It seems there is inspiration from Lost, Prison Break era shows in what he produces, well done !
I write already my second review for this title cause the first one disappeared after some days i don't know how. I thought Sky Rojo would be a clever mini episode from the Spanish director Alex Pina but I was wrong. It hits no doubt the problems of prostitution and social life but all that is not good packed to create a serious thriller. After four series I stopped it because there were more and more cheesy holes and I didn't want to waste more time with it. I expected more and it is too overrated on IMDb 2/10.

There is nothing to complain in the Two seasons so far in this show. I am just waiting for Season 3 already and I binge watched Season 2 because it is so much fun , fast and pacy with good thrill moments.
Their should be no one who has any problems with this c'mon what do you want more. If you want a slow burner then don't start this and then say hey this is not Oscar material.
Enjoy the good looking cast, their acting and the story. Trust me you'll love it.

If you have time, please do not waste it in this show.
If you are an active feminist, you will fell how all the big topics are mistreated.
The only things that matters are action scene.
It has te stamp of the director of "la casa de papel" and try to use the same resources that worked for that situation. Boring.

This show is made by the same creators as the much acclaimed show Money Heist, so I decided to watch Sky Rojo and here is my review for it. The premise of the show sees a trio of prostitutes on the run from their pimp and his henchman.
Main Character There are really three main characters on this show, Veronica Sanches as Coral, Lali Esposito as Wendy & Yany Prado as Gina and these girls are all having plenty of fun in their roles. The three of them all have really good chemistry together and you see the bond between there characters as they have gone through this pretty terrible experience together and it does make this show more enjoyable and you do grow to care about these women despite them being prostitutes.
Supporting Characters The supporting players are okay, really the main ones are the pimp and his henchman and they are decent for the roles that they are given. They fit the role that the show needs and I guess that is enough but I can't help but feel like the show misses a trick with them. Every male character is a bad person in some way or another and I understand why to a certain extent, but it makes it hard to really believe the situation of the characters when the majority or all other characters are evil and not given any real depth. The main characters are given plenty of backstory and character and they just failed to do that with the other characters in my opinion.
Story The story is a fun one that also has some darker themes to it. It is entertaining to see these three women on the run from these henchmen and the really creative ways that they stay one step ahead and the main characters are allowed time to progress throughout. The show also does try to focus on the prostitute industry, but it isn't particularly smooth at this, it shows it as very glamourous and over the top and I get why but it does feel a bit strange. Also this show ends on a huge cliffhanger and even though it was effective I am not sure the show earnt it and it felt a bit like it was just there for shock value and without a huge plan.
Script The script is fine, there are some fun moments and dialogue that did have me laughing when I was supposed to. There is also some okay drama but in my opinion it never hits the level that it should, with the heavy subject matter there could have been more weight to it but it never did for me and that was a shame.
Style This show has a very cool style to it, it has a great soundtrack and the way it is filmed is clearly meant to be cool. The show just looks really nice, from the cast to the action scenes to the setting that it takes place in. The episodes are also much shorter in length then I thought with some only being 20 mins long and it actually worked and made the show feel like it had a faster pace. But this shows style had a major flaw for me and when I noticed it, it bugged me for the rest of the show and that is that the aspect ratio kept changing. I understand it was done for a story reason but it was really jarring and just happening too often and it started to annoy me.
Overall Overall this is an above average show that is a pretty easy and fun watch. Sky Rojo is a show you can get through quickly but I must say watch the show in its natural Spanish tongue with subtitles, the English dubbing is awful and it is better with the subtitles. If you have a few hours free you could do much worse then Sky Rojo.
Rating - 6/10.
